Eclipse looks ludicrously strong

Eclipse: Reworked this ability and its morphs so you will now envelop your target in a sphere of darkness for 4 seconds, which harms them anytime they use a Direct Damage attack.

Their first attack causes the sphere to hinder them, reducing their Movement Speed by 30% for 4 seconds.
Their second attack causes the sphere to entangle them, immobilizing them for 3 seconds.
Their third attack causes the sphere to smother them, stunning them for 3 seconds.
These effect can only occur once every second.
Note that the sphere can no longer be CC broken early, but can still be cleansed.
Total Dark (morph):
Renamed this morph to Living Dark.
You now envelop yourself in darkness for 4 seconds, which protects you. Anytime an enemy hits you with a Direct Damage attack, they are immobilized for 3 seconds and you are healed.
This heal value has been decreased by approximately 25% compared to the original value, but can now occur every half second rather than every .75 seconds.
Unstable Core (morph): Each time the sphere activates on the attacker, they will take damage. This damage increases based on the stage the sphere is currently in.
Does this look like Fossilize on steroids to you too? What is the counterplay? As far as I can see this will completely neutralize a player. It does too much. Snare. Root. Heal or damage. Hard CC, if not immune, and only then can you break free. Am I missing something? This seems way over the top. If the player goes passive, then no root immunity, no CC immunity, the templar will just apply this again.

Delayed soft cc with delayed hard CC which you cannot use on demand. That requires some actual skill play to use CC in the right moment.
Snares and roots aren't big deal anymore: 5-7 sec of immunity to the shuffle, Momentum, Race agaisnt time... Enough counters.

Question is how strong damage will be. It scales, accoriding to the tooltip.

It's basically like the Psijic bubble, but they can't run out of it. In the meantime you get healed. When I currently put Total Dark on someone, and they don't break it immediately, I am sitting pretty, because of the healing. You can stick this on multiple players. You can stick it on pets. I don't know man.

As a general rule, effects where the only counterplay is purge should be limited in strength compared to abilities with more accessible counterplay, or more counterplay should be introduced. The damage avoidance alone is far too powerful for an effect that requires a purge to counter completely.

It only procs off direct damage. Just spend 4GCDs on ground aoes or self-buff/heals.

And 4 seconds later... they apply it again. gg wp.

You are not killing a templar with ground DoTs.

Its like saying they can only apply it to one person per second so what is the problem, just zerg them down with an army. There, a countplay.

WELCOME BACK TO ESO DK WINGS!! YOU FOUND A NEW CLASS AND A NEW SEXY LOOK TO!!!!!!!!! PREPARE TO BE SPAMMMMMMMMMMMMMED! No one is attacking a magplar now, it's a death sentence just like wings used to be for DK. Nothing like being punished for attacking a target.

    This.

I think many not realize yet how strong bleedplars will be with this and all the other changes like the Onslaught one. :D

Would really be surprised if there will not be any adjustments to this. If none, next FOTM has been born. Most likely the current FOTM pet sorcs (not talking about the ones who always play sorc, be it fotm or not) already turned their eye of Sauron on this skill and are leveling their new stamplars right now in the game. :D

Yep, I already said this last night: IT'S WINGS ALL OVER AGAIN.

How can ZOS keep making these bone-headed mistakes over and over? Please stop making CCs that have no counter!

Out of everything in the patch notes this does stick out as the single odd thing they over buffed. Not like Templars needed much in the way of help.

Just remember it's on a class that doesn't have on demand burst either and no proactive defense mechanic either. It's primarily a healing class with sustained pressure.

Unless people want to think cyro was full of them, but conviently forgetting about OP Sorc/dk/nb/warden builds lol

For PvP, Onslaught, Shuffle, and Eclipse are all SERIOUSLY overpowered and I can't imagine any of them making it to the game. However it is ZoS and this just reminds of me Morrowind all over again. They'll claim they know what's best as the entire community (except a few idiots that claim they are VERY skilled players when they clearly aren't) calls them idiots and half of the endgame community will quit. Again.

That might not matter much. Just wait till I go Total Dark, Onslaught and hit you with my 12K to 20K spammable while you have no resistances.

Many stamina builds are geared for direct damage. Second stamina dot builds are already weak and will be weaker this release. Assuming you do spend 4 gcds spamming a heal or maybe your only slotted aoe. Sooooo yep after those 4 gcds guess what, he will just places eclipse on you again.

So your suggestion to stand there and spam heals until you die while he is exercising his rotation on you with every 4th skill an Eclipse.

Pending testing, but from what I understand:

If post application, you wait 1.00001 seconds and then attack, you will never get the hard stun. If you wait 2.00001 seconds, you'll never get the immobilize, just the snare. And let's face it, unless you are running snare immunity, you are snared versus a templar anyway. So hypothetically, it gets applied, you buff up for 1 second then gap close and burst the 'plar and take the immobilize. Or, you have to pop an immov pot or skill; a pot works fine for the FIRST bubble. Or you purge it, which hugely favors other templars and necros.

It's a very complex decision tree with low discoverability. DK Wings was less complex and had instant discoverability. "Oh hey, they flapped wings and my ability was reflected. Let's not do that again." Eclipse as a skill has had a very poor discoverability since it was created, and this is niw worse.

Living Dark looks very nice, but Unstable Core is just waaaay too polarizing and the counterplay is not clear enough.

Two templars will apparently just hold block and Eclipse each other while looking mean. That's 1v1. Multiple plars are just going to spam this everywhere. It will suck.
