Matter about what content ingame are you looking for.
If you just want to quest or do housing then game is fine.
If you want to go PvP or endgame raiding then it's really not game for you. PvP is unplayable most of the time and even in trials the ping is just really bad.

Pretty much this. If you like to adventure, craft, or decorate, and treat your mmos as a solo pve game with a social community, you’ll be very happy with eso. If you prefer pvp or group content this game is maddening, due to the bugs, connectivity, and zeni’s poor communication on all of it.

My feelings also, only be back to the game 2 weeks , I was planning to subscribe after a few weeks and get back into it deep, but been put off by so many issues, just issues I have come across myself I know there are tons more, Plus biggest off put for me up to now is the appalling communication from CM's regarding the E3 event, stayed up until like 4 am watched the whole event with my linked account was really looking forward to the new mount, but have not received a thing as yet and theres been no communication about the matter from ZOS, its very off putting, been back 2 weeks and already lost faith in the company.

Yeah. It's shocking how bad of a cash grab this game can be, and it's gotten even worse with the addition of Skyshard unlocks for crowns.[/quote]

I'm still surprised that anyone would actually buy those things, let alone think that they're a "cashgrab" (since there's really little incentive to spend the $. I guess I feel that 'cashgrab' should only be applied to things that have pressure to buy them. Not merely boring timesavers. /shrug)

edit: and I suppose this game also has some need to come up with things for all the ESO+ players to spend their monthly crowns on. Unlike games where you only get 'crowns' by directly buying them. (All those people "only doing ESO+ for the crafting bag" likely have unused crowns falling out their ears Gotta give them things to spend them on, otherwise the "and you get $15 worth of crowns each month!" has zero use.)

I left the game for that reason. For me the lag, loading screens, the crashes, the hangings, the bugs in battlegrounds that never start or the battlegrounds grouping tool infinity grouping disbanding problem, lead me to just stop playing.

I can honestly say only the loading screens in that list are something I have occasional issues with. I literally play daily and never have game breaking lag or crashes. The loading screen issues are usually only during prime time as well, when a lot of people are playing.

Trading went loco. We are waiting for the Royal Necros Association to revive it.
PvP is the same hot mess. I wonder why the people in their right mind playing it.
PvE has been affected from the same messy server epidemic.
Game is fun? Oh yes, when you can play it is a lot of fun.
Content is good? Damn right it is, when you can play.

In all honesty, if you are just going to play solo to experience the story and just quest AND you can play out of peak times like during the evening then the game might be fine for you and you will likely enjoy it.

If it is anything else you are likely to become very frustated and probably head back to WoW. Unless they can do some major fixes, which are likely to take at least 6 months to implement by their own admission.

Overall advice? I would probably come back in some months to see whether there has been an improvement to the current situation to see whether it will be worth jumping ship to ESO.

People not admitting the severe flaws this game has are either in denial, or play solo. The latter renders the online thing about an MMO completely useless. If you are here because you are looking for a "skyrim-esque" kind of game to play on your own and to roam like any other single player game ,it might be ok.

But is it ok for an MMO ? At the moment there is nothing massive about it other than bugs, let alone online....

Hmm let me see then and tell you a bit about the last time I played ESO.

Login get 2 friends to join my group and queue for a battleground. Spam join queue button several times until game crashes back to login screen. Get back and repeat, smash that button until you get lucky to be placed in the queue.
After getting in the queue my char and one of my friends get ported to a BG, the other friend that was in my group is left outside despite having pressed F.
Best part...my team has only two players and never fills up...we wait 10 minutes until we leave the bugged BG and by doing so we both get a 20 minute penalty.
Tried another BG later, after waiting, and pressing skills does not work, try to swap weapon same thing...one of my friends leaves mid battle and for some reason my character is also ported outside. Was alot of fun...NOT!

So tell me , please, how can I play this game? I play it for pvp, since cyro is just a huge lag fest i usually do BGs, which are bugged and laggy aswell. Very frustrating experience.

Great: TES universe, graphics, combat, art style, crafting, topography, character customization, pvp, & pve.

Bad: management, stability, lfg system, server, loading screens (even in combat), engine, bugs, & quantity>quality.

The bad overshadows the good. Exception for those players that just play house, dress-up, rp, & crown store.

You haven't tried pvp on EU server lmao.

Wow is an empty cashgrab with little to no content, while you can play ESO forever and still find new content that is still relevant.

I mean, hey, if WoW BFA is a good enough game for you, why leave? Seems you dont have much demand for content anyway...

First off man, if your going to try real hard to hate on a company or game do better next time than typing out a bunch of crap like you did in your post.

B.F.A. is but one of seven expansions in a 15 year old game that's held the top MMO spot for years based around having a Sub fee and not bolstering it's numbers from console players.

My wife and I both played Wow for 15 years starting back in November 24, 2004 and left this year to branch out and try something different for a change. Not because we both dislike what Blizzard has done with the game (the same can be seen on these very forums with threads moaning about developers being Inadequate) but because after 15 years some people need a change.

ESO is a great game as well as Wow, or any other MMO on the market. None of them are with out faults and all of them have their white knights to try and preach it to the masses how great their game is and how awful all the others are.

I wouldn't classify wow as a Cash grab with little to no content either, I would say 15 years wow has been out offers a lot of content to go through before one even begins to be able to play end game.

Both MMO's ESO as well as WOW offer microtransactions from a store that offers nothing more than cosmetic items. It's the way things work in most games now not just wow. Over all I think having more than one MMO at the top is great for gamers, it keeps developers on their toes to want to out do their competitors and create the best game they can for their customers.

LOL yeah about 3 years ago it was bug free in pve and we could PvP with almost no lag. It was also balanced as far as sets you can use to dps/heal/tank.. now they are scrambling to deal with all the lag. I cant even parse in my own home w/o freezes and missing LAs etc... shame.

I remember ESO as a almost bugfree game some years ago,

Your memory is flawed. Software quality was always atrocious.

ESO excels in art/story/characterization/etc., although different people can have very different opinions as to which parts of that they admire and, which is not the same thing, which parts they value highly.

The basic ideas of the combat system are pretty good, although nothing will ever match the great imagination and flexibility of the original Guild Wars.

Opinions very greatly as to combat balance, but certainly the game makers have two self-imposed problems:
    • A commitment to balance PvP and PvE with the same skills, notwithstanding the great differences in the value of various kinds of skills between the two formats.
    • The aforementioned bugs.
My personal view is that I have little complaint about actual combat balance per se, but I dislike some of the things ZoS has felt it had to do to maintain that balance, such as frequent drastic change, or the nerfing of some of the cooler individual skills.
