Jewelry Crafting Hirelings, Is it time?

That's a rhetorical question, of course it is time for JC Hirelings. We are long since past the time for when JC Hirelings should have been added. One of the most frustrating aspects of this crafting class is the fact we need 10 bits to make things like trait materials or improvement platings. It is so bad that all Jewelry crafting master writs are deemed worthless to the community overall. Never mind the fact they can give upwards of 300+ writ vouchers, it simply isnt worth crafting an accessory to purple/gold if you arent planning on using it because of how rare and expensive it is to make purple and gold platings with purple platings selling for about 25k each, so 75k to guarantee getting the upgrade to purple, and Chromium platings selling for 83k each, so about 332k to upgrade from purple to gold. In total it takes about 410k just to gold out an item from white quality. So even writs worth as much as 300+ vouchers, it just isnt worth spending that much money.

we *need* a more reliable means of collecting these rarer dusts and a hireling would give us just that. We are at a point where Zos @ZOS_GinaBruno needs to take another look at Jewelrycrafting and do something about the absurd rarity of some of these materials. It is at a point where i can't bring myself to improve jewelry above blue simply because the expenses for moving from blue to purple far outweighs everything else.

I could live with only having purple tier jewelry if it meant i could obtain those platings consistently and without the need for grinding for a ridiculous amount of time. I would be happier if we were guaranteed purple/gold dust upon deconstructing accessories of that tier. I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to dump a day's worth of purple accessories into the grinder and get maybe one or two dusts if im lucky. I know you want Jewelrycrafting to be a more expensive endeavor than the other crafting skills, but the insanity brought on by how much time an effort is required to make everything from scratch myself.

We need improvements to the deconstruction system for Jewelrycrafting, and we *need* hirelings for Jewelrycrafting so that trying to craft to purple and beyond no longer feels like a bad investment.

I would really appreciate some input from the other players of the community, i know i am not the only one who feels this way.

If they aren't going to change Snakeblood since the beginning, what makes you think they're going to add a Jewelry Hireling.

LMAO, I forgot about Snakeblood. Officially the most useless passive in the game.

We wont get JC hirelings, they arent going to ever make JC writs worth doing (even though I refuse to destroy them), and JC will continue to be used very sparingly outside of trait change by most players.

They could fix 90% of the grief associated with JC by putting purple mats in the JC writ drop table. Purple JC mats are the biggest mat bottleneck in the game.

Just buff writs vouchers or reduce materials for improving jewelry.

    No need for hireling

I understand the rarity of the gold mats to an extend, but the purples mats are just stupid. Purple jewerly certainly isnt hard to get other than crafting it. Its silly.

honestly, i think you're probably right, which is why i also used this thread to express a desire to see the rarity of purple dropped so its more inline with the actual value and not the inflated value by bottlenecking the purple plating. if they guaranteed at least one purple dust upon deconstructing purple tier jewelry, it'd be a huge benefit, not only would it help break the bottleneck, but purple tier jc writs would actually be worth something.

Jewelry should be more standardized in general. The way it stands out really make it clumsily tagged on instead of elegantly built into the game. Whilst I understand that jewelry draws its value only from traits and that the dust system thus makes sense for trait materials, there are whole lot of less understandable changes to the base crafting formula.
    A) Jewelry tables are much rarer and often placed far away from the equipment workshops in cities
    B) There isn't a merchant for it pretty much everywhere (outside summerset)
    C) You can only certify it in summerset, an unnecessary hindrance. The Warden wasn't tied that much to the Vvardenfell zone.
    D) It has dust for upgrade materials instead of just getting them as full things, like in other professions. Making it unnecessarily harder.
    E) Most traits can only be acquired through very specific contest instead of appearing in the drop list.
    F) It uses entirely different tiers, which are admittedly far better than those for base game crafting, especially considering 1T. Only Electrum is stupid. The obvious thing for that tier would be gold.
    G) The actual topic of the threat.

All this should be addressed by bringing it to the preexisting standards, except for F). I'd be really happy if the jewelry tiers got applied to all equipment types. Interestingly that would bring metal more in line with the single player TES games, scrapping the mats made up for those higher tiers:
Iron->Steel->Orichalc->Dwemer->Ebony (Daedric is a style, like dragon bone)

frankly it feels like they just wanted to make JC needlessly complex for the sake or it, or decided that it would be a good idea to continue with the trend of require 10 bits of material to make one whole trait/ appearance material. or in this case trait/improvement materials.

I honestly think it'd be better if they dropped the dust collecting for platings, or barring that, reduce the number from 10 to 5 for platings.

i think jc just needs one change. doesnt matter what it is, a hireling, not needing 10 *** grains to make a plating then needing 3 and then 4 ridiculous platings to upgrade a ring, or something

also be nice if we could research ring and neck at the same time.

The only people against this, and against the jewelry system being in line with other crafting are the cartels price fixing it all. So they can continue to sell the mats to the players at manipulated and highly inflated prices. A year after the expansion released, and people still can't fully enjoy one of the main features of it. It's ludicrous.

im super annoyed that i can't make purple jewelry for crafted sets due to how expensive the platings are. I do not want to spend like 220k just for two rings and a necklace.

Im not gonna find purple crafted accessories in the guild traders for any less either which is understandable yet still ticks me off

JC never will be relevant/useful as other crafting lines unless they remove grains. We should straight out get bars from refining like every other crafting lines. Right now there's no point upgrading jewelries to gold because its ridiculous high cost. Like you can buy whole gold jewelry set and it still be cheaper than upgrading single purple to gold.

I can understand why they set it up this way initially but it really needs to be adjusted to match the other crafts now. It’s been a year, the expansion is now part of ESO Plus so there’s no reason for it to continue like this. I’d also like to see the home crafting mats in my hireling deliveries.

It's silly that Jewelry crafting has not been treated as other crafting skills only because ''they'd have leveled it in few hours'' and '' no, my super duper ring reward are less meaning duh''.

i could deal with the grains if we got them consistently and not occasionally.

Just get rid of the hireling entirely and add material crates to daily login rewards.

Why do I need to check so many mails everytime I login, why do you want even more :/.

Everytime you login you should get

Daily Reward + Daily material crate.

Daily Material crate is calculated on how many characters you have + each of their crafting levels.

honestly i don't know if any reason was given. It was a new skill line and i guess they didnt want the value of the materials dropping too quickly, but now we are at the point where we *need* changes because the bottlenecked higher end materials are ridiculous.

Since they liked to introduce the damn 1/10 mat from decon and since they are adding a lot of furniture Sketch requiring 10/10 materials and since the JC master writs still SUCK, I would say yes, it IS time to get hireling.

They should just adjust it so that you can get 1-4 grains per decon. Weight it so that 1 is statistically most likely but is also guaranteed. This would help a ton with purple mats especially since purple jewelry isn't all that rare and while it would drop the price of chromium a bit it would still be expensive since only those overflowing in AP, gold, or vet trials runs would actually get more.

I agree: I think chars with maximum crafting ranks and maximum crafting skills must have better chances of extraction. It's not realistic that a "master" has pretty much the same chances as a "rookie".

Here is what I find funny. In the 2 months after Summerset I was able to research 8/9 necklace traits and 4/9 ring traits. In the month since I came back I finished up the necklace traits and my 5th ring trait will be completed today. I find it funny that people are complaining about how long it takes to research this stuff considering that I didn’t play for 10 full months and am 75% done with it. Just wanted to point that out.

Anyway, yeah, the writs are ridiculous. I have one for 265 vouchers on my main right now that I actually can do, and I still won’t. That right there is a problem. I have the mats. I have the skills. I even want the vouchers and I still won’t do it.

Any jewelry hireling would be appreciated. Maybe add some in on the rewards for the worthy and as a drop in dungeons so everyone has a bit more of a chance at them as well.

I actually like how dawn prisms are for PVPers and guilder wax (I think) is farmed by PVErs. Gives each group something to sell to the other which is healthy.
