I bought the cat merchant/banker/both, but i dont have the original 2 assistants

I very much love my new Alfiq companions

I came pretty close to getting the original assistance's a long time ago, but then i saw the Alfiq NPCs teased when they started showing off stuff for Elsweyr, an how many people were begging to have them become bank/merchants (myself included), that i decided to hold off an wait, in hopes that some day our wish would be granted, an boy am i glad i did! It was a long wait, but well worth it.

I timed it around me getting a 1 years subscription so i just used the extra "free" crowns from that to pay for me new little kittys.

The execution is bad. They should rather sell it as skins than brand new assistants. That way you pay for the base ones and spend like 1.5k crowns for the skins. Much more reasonable and allows them to release more future ones.

I feel like it'd be pretty good, if it worked on the "First is 5k, new ones are at a 50% discount" premise. At least that way I wouldn't have hang-ups about the Alfiqs.

I also find the "But muh mounts" comments to be pretty unfair and fairly disingenuous. Mostly for the reasons of: They see more usage on a practical scale than the merchant/banker, more often than not you summon them, do your business, and then despawn them (So they don't get in your way), and pretty much serve as a convenience item, rather than something you plant your buttox on for a speed boost in travel.

....yet. I'll be getting the alfiq banker for both accounts, but not immediately. I'm not so interested in the merchant, but we'll see down the road.

As a newer player to the game, I do not have any of them. I was thinking about getting some of the cats, but I can't justify to myself in getting both the Banker and the Merchant for 10K crowns. For me it's a choice between getting the last 6 character slots for 9K, or getting the banker/merchant. Right now I see the Banker as being the more use full of the two as the newer content has lots of traveling merchants and merchants that are placed out in the adventure zones.

Perhaps it would be more prudent to wait and see if they go on sale later as others have suggested.

And to the original Poll question. Why isn't there an option for I have one but not the other?

My answer is mostly correct because I didn't already buy the merchant, since new ones were datamined at the time, and I got the original banker for 50% off (back when they had those sales instead of the 30% rip off). So I have 3 assistants now, which I paid $75 for. Even then, one of the assistants I bought entirely with leftover ESO+ crowns and still had some left for the other, so if I didn't count that (because its money I spend on the game anyway and didn't actually buy the crowns) I've spent like... $45 on 3 assistants. I'm not too butthurt about about that, because I've spent that much on a single mount before.

I bought the original npcs with gold, and could do the same now with the cats - however even if its basically "free" of real life charges, I really don't feel like banging out another 4 million g for a reskin. They are cute but the voice acting feels a little overplayed.

My option is missing. I skipped merchant since I have Nuzi but got cat banker.
If I had old banker I wouldn't buy a new one.

I have both, got them for Black Friday half off and will probably do the same for the Alfiq Banker and Merchant, being able to upgrade would be nice tho.. I hate Tythis Andromo especially when he constantly reminds me that Im the one that stopped Alexandra Conele at the Coral Heart.. yes I fn know Andromo...

I primarily play khajiit and my house is in rawlkha. Its REALLY weird to have a Dark Elf banker working for a Khajiit Lore-wise. Getting an Alfiq replacement was the best thing to happen there.

I was originally just going to replace the banker (I find him annoyingly smarmy), but splurged and got both because the Alfiqs are probably my favorite part of the game right now. While I wish they weren’t so pricey, I don’t regret the purchase because they’re just so freaking cute. How the merchant one clasps its paws? *dies*

I have all of them, see, that is what I selected for my answer... I even have all 4 in a couple of my houses... I would have preferred an upgrade option because wallet or pet or mount aside, I really don't need 2 bankers and 2 merchants... come to think of it, I only need 1 mount, 1 motif, and (not that I need a house) 1 house... granted, I have a bunch of mounts, I know 68 or so motifs and own 20+ houses, but I like them so I have acquired them... but I am a cat lover at heart so could not really pass them up.

I would prefer that as I have the original banker and merchant, for a reduced amount (less then the 10k crowns I spent) I could have a choice of which version I call up when I summon a banker or merchant, just like a pet or mount, and a hot key (like the "H" that summons my mount) to call the merchant or banker I have selected for that character

I have not yet found a place where I would prefer to have one over the other banker/merchant but that point is moot for me, as I have both and can swap them in and out... but I may at some point... but in a house that has 10 slots for special collectables or what ever the category is, I can't put a banker inside the house and the same banker outside in the court yard, even if I had the slots open, with the upgrade option, when I select a banker for a house, I should have to choose one or the other, not both

As for a few of those here that call them all a rip off or a waste of crowns, remember that when you use a Banker or Merchant another group member has made available... to be consistent you should refuse to use them and mock the person who pulled them out... then let us know how it works out for you.

I bought the original banker when it was on sale. If the price wasn't cheap enough; appropriate for its utility I wouldn't have bought that too. So idc really, considering 5k crown Tythis looks way cuter than Alfiqs to me

Unless they did something different (ie Guild Banking, repairs, etc) I will not be spending money for something that I already have.

Mounts are a bit different in my opinion.
