Think of it as a Car. The Alfiqs are the new models. They do the same thing and cost the same, they just look different. You don't go into the Honda dealer and get mad at them for charging you for a new car when you already have one of their older ones.

If you already have assistants then it’s a complete rip off and offers no additional functionality. I like cats but I already have a couple of real ones, no FOMO purchasing for me here, unless it is drastically lowered in price for those who already have assistants, like 1k crowns each.

I don’t think they should be available as some kind of upgrade.... if we are going on that principle all mounts should be upgradable....

@tgrippa Yes.... absolutely I do agree more functionality would be preferred... but I would have bought the original banker for the base functionality he offers but he’s just so....... fugly......

And sometimes when I’m spending crowns (from my sub) I do question the sanity of buying something that is essentially pixels but hey.... I guess that’s what I’ve chosen to do for fun.... it is a bit crazy

I don't have a merchant, so now I have two choices if I decide to get one. I won't pay twice for the same same functionality, but might have considered paying a smaller amount for a cosmetic option.

It would have been nice to see a "banker/merchant costs 4000, skins (at least one required,) cost 1000" structure instead. But they can't do that now, or there would be too many complaints. And I'd want a lot more than two choices for each.

I got access to Tythis back during the reduced-price promotion last year, but never had as much use for the merchant. That said, as someone who mains a Khajiit, I couldn't say no to the Alfiq. Fortunately for me I had started saving my subscription crowns when they were first datamined in the hope that they'd be released, so now I have three - two bankers and a merchant.

There's a big difference in price between mounts and assistants, though. That's the issue a lot of people (myself included) have with this.

Also there's an option in game to receive a free mount at level 18 (I think it's that level), there's no free banker or merchant.

The only way I would pay additional crowns for another banker/merchant is if they allowed us to fully customize them. Outfit, race, appearance, etc, as well as added the repair option to the merchant, and the guild bank option to the banker.

The 5k crowns is already a pretty large sum to pay for them. Especially considering their use is greatly diminished as your inventory capacity increases.

The poll does not account for any combination of one of each type, or one + two, one + zero. Needs an "other" at least.

By not offering upgrade pricing, I think ZOS may be leaving money on the table. Their decision, of course.

Personally I would buy skins for merchants/bankers/fence instead for up to ~ 1k crown
I also still want BARD and STABLEMASTER for homes and perhaps an NPC that would sweep dust from room to make it more lively in the houses we own.

I mean we got homes in many different styles and we wanna fill them with NPC's that look in theme with that home.
So instead of Nuzhimeh I would rather have Dunmer merchant girl... And I am pretty sure those skins for our npc's would be more popular than those reskins.

I don't understand why people want the repair option add to the merchant. Maybe it's because I have over 1000+ Grand Repair Kits. I have not bought a single one. Oh well to each his own.

I'd pay to "change" the ones I have to the kitties, but there is NO way I'll pay 5k each for them, that's just way too much since I have a banker and merchant already. I can't justify that.

I've played since beta and haven't needed them. Decided to purchase the new ones. This morning, it did cut down my time crafting writs on my 9 characters, not having to run to the bank or merchant.

Maybe if I had an excess of crowns, but I don't. And I know that its a weird line in the sand, since I do buy all the pretty kitty mounts and pets. But I'm pretty sure none of them were 5k each either sooo....

But they are super cute. And my personal opinion on not buying them has nothing to do with other people or what they choose to do. Its a just for me personally, I can't justify buying them.

I agree that the original assistants are stale now, I just think it’s really cheap and tacky of ZOS to offer the exact same thing but with a different reskin for 10,000 crowns, omfg LMAO.

I am sure people would take much more kindly to it if they had more functionality or a much cheaper option for those with assistants already.

But this is ZOS, and they repeatedly do this, and every time they do it I end up losing more respect for their business model, which simply means going forward I doubt I will buy any further games they make.

The idea of skins is a good one, but I don't get why people start from the position that these are "upgrades", and take offence. They are simply new choices. The "upgrade" argument could be made of half the items in the crown store if you go down that route.

"ZOS tricked me into buying this house because they didn't tell me THAT house was coming. Why can't we upgrade?"

There will almost assuredly be other, newer bankers and merchants after these, too. Prepare yourselves.

Tythis and Nuzhimeh have done great since I bought them. No need to replace them.

It's just that they cost 5000 crowns instead of mount pricing at 3000 crowns. But upgrading should not have even been there. It's basically another mount.

If you want to upgrade then you would have to lose the original like the indrik mount.

Meh... You can upgrade the Indrik and lose the original fugmo...
