Malicious Strike change in Patch v5.0.7

In today's patch notes, there was a "fix":

Cloudrest Trial - Blocking Malicious Strike’s projectile damage no longer prevents the Dark Drain effect from applying, as originally intended.

What do you think about it?

I always thought this was an intended mechanic that rewarded a player who was aware about his surroundings. As a melee DPS, you want a range DPS to deal with this mechanic (killing balls before they jump and pop up, stunning a random target in the process), but if you actually pay attention and block the projectile, you're rewarded. Now it doesn't matter anymore. The projectile damage is not what is dangerous, multiple DoTs on you are. Especially on +1/+2/+3 when 1 healer is in the shadow realm.

What is the counter to this DoT now?

Sure, healing, but it means you have to stay near your healer all the time. But what about other mechanics like sending spears to the shadow realm? Or the mechanics from mini bosses on +1/+2/+3. You can't stay near your healer all the time. And when it happens you can die. And dying in vCR+1/+2/+3, as you all for sure know, is a serious problem.

For me, as a melee stamina DPS, this was the most dangerous mechanic in the whole trial and I'm not very happy about this change :(
