✭✭I find that playing with the eyebrow height and eye shadow options can make a big difference to a character's looks. Some eyebrows that normally sit low can be much improved by raising them and vice versa. The Head Marking option in the character creator allows for some subtle effects, besides the scars and goth makeups. Renee, above, has freckles, the second notch, while the third notch is an eyeshadow that can transform some characters. Renee, on the other hand, uses the subtle eyeliner, which I think came from a crown crate.
Lighting is important. Characters look crap at high noon or in the cold, harsh light of the IC sewers. The best light is when the sun is low. The Psijic Villa has consistent lighting that looks good, while my above screenshot was illuminated by a lantern in Autumn's Gate. Well, it's not about "pretty". For example there is a lot of good looking gals in this thread, but imo they look more like bretons. Question is how to create nord which still looks like nord but have proportional and expressive features. And though we have a lot of such Nordic NPC in game, it's rather hard to reproduce them in character creator.
Anyway it all depends on your own nationality and national-specific perception of beauty..
And I won't bring on parallels to IRL, because races in ESO are mix of several nationalities from real life and for me Nords are mostly related to what we see in Skyrim - weathered and concerned face expressions and features, used to chilly winds and scarce food.4 -
