This game runs so poorly on high end machines. Look, I enjoy the content, but going near stitches my fps drop to 22..Really?!

Before people say "upgrade computer" 2080 ti cpu i9 overclock to 5.1 ghz. I built this machine for cyberpunk.

People saying it is a older game. Wow had a patch not to long ago that uses more cores, and it fps is much better in it. My system is not being pushed at all when i get the dips.

This is getting silly at this point.

Not sure what the difference may be. My set up is good but not top tier yet I typically get a minimum of 50-60 fps and can often go 100-110 fps. I average 80-85 fps.

This have been said every single update actually :D. It's also same with classes. Bunch of outdated skills and the tooltip have been wrong since release. It's different tooltips on some skills. One before you morph it when you hover over skill is wrong compared to the actual tooltip. Also for example the fire aoe on dk's now have different tooltips compared to the duration. But instead they release a new class, actually two because these problems was around before warden release as well. And yes I have been reporting it.

And fps has probably little to do with server stability

The game drops FPS like mad for no reason at all. Last night I was having a stroll in Stros M'kai with my necromancer and for no reason at all (no visible player around, and the place isn't exactly GPU intensive), it dropped below 20. And it stayed below 20 until I teleported back to Daggerfall, where it was 60 again.

I don't use Vsync, but I cap my FPS at 60. So anything above 60, I cannot tell. But my FPS at the very least could TRIPLE by simply teleporting from Stros M'kai to Daggerfall. Also, sometimes when just wandering, there is a huge FPS drop for a few seconds, and then back to normal, or almost normal. I play many games, it ONLY happens in ESO.

    My rig :

Motherboard MSI X470 gaming plus (basic, but reliable)
    AMD Ryzen 5 2600X
16 GB of RAM, highest speed the CPU and motherboard can handle
    GeForce GTX 1060
Windows 10 home, legit and up to date. All drivers up to date. System is installed on a SSD, game is installed on another SSD. And as a former IT tech, I kinda know my way around a computer.

What I think is funny is that so many people think that there is some correlation between the issues the game performance has and the development of Expansions.

One has nothing to do with the other. There are different people working those two separate areas. You just gonna layoff the Expansion people until the Tech people fix things?

That won't speed up improvements at all.

@rager82b14_ESO Yes, it's a problem. The engine seems poorly optimized with CPU usage. There are two very important adjustments everyone should make to provide a big performance boost with little to no loss in visual quality:

    1) Disable high resolution shadows. This relates to the shadows cast by character models that are insanely sharp. It's not only completely unrealistic (shadows are always blurry unless super close to the caster and on a bright day), but a performance hog. Courtesy of this fab guide, here's how you disable them:
Lets locate your usersettings.ini file for ESO. Typically this is located in documents\elder scrolls online\live. Make sure to make a COPY of this file before proceeding. Go ahead and edit the file with notepad or word pad (I prefer notepad++) and were going to be looking for some specific settings to modify.

The very first one to search for is:
SET HIGH_RESOLUTION_SHADOWS. Yours will probably say 1. CHANGE that to "0". (Now this is not to be confused with actual shadow quality, but whether or not the shadows are hard edged or soft. Believe it or not, it actually looks more realistic with this setting to "0" AND has a huge impact on performance in a positive manner.

    2) Lower your draw distance. This is much easier since it's an in-game settings menu option. You're probably running with this setting at 100. Lower it to 60. The game has everything in the distance obscured by fog anyway, so you probably won't notice any visual loss at all, just a colossal framerate improvement. The changes are real time so you can see what vanishes/appears from view as you drag the slider up and down from 0-100, until you hit your own personal sweet spot.

Optional step since you probably value good visuals with that PC build: Install this mod called Daybreak. It massively reduces the amount of fog in the game without removing it entirely (like a similar but older mod does), improving draw distance while retaining the game's unique atmosphere. No performance impact at all, but does of course make it more desirable to keep the game's draw distance setting cranked up to 100.

Some of my Elsweyr shots using Daybreak:

The Stitches is a town within the scar region of Elsweyr. It has a fairly elevated position, so lots of environment assets to draw on screen, along with the usual demands of architecture and NPC count in towns, so is fairly performance intensive:

Oh, the game still slows to a crawl on console. Sometimes it happens when traveling by wayshrine to a new area. Usually I can fix it on my PS4 by entering /reloadui in chat. But this is not a new problem, been going on for over a year now.

Yeah, I would have to agree with your assessment on how the game runs. My computer with it's 1080 Ti max settings runs around 60 to 100 fps but will dip well below what it should when even in open areas with not that many players around. The highs are high and the lows tend to drop stupid low.

When I have a machine and graphics card well above what the require specs are for the game I tend to think and most times often can run said game in max settings. ESO seems to have some *** ups for an unknown reason when running all settings in max.
I am patient with stupidity but not with those who are proud of it.

$790 3 year old pc and I stay around 50 fps on high though it drops when I go to cyrodel unless I drop to med. It MIGHT be a setting in your graphics card program causing it or an add on. I noticed my fps was crap with mini map add on.

Ill never understand why some people are so dense that they dont comprehend the distribution of funds is what makes the real difference. Sure they may be two teams but if one is getting all the money and personnel
