Is the game worth coming back to?

I quit a year ago due to the game just not keeping me engaged. I like a lot of features compared to old mmos I played, just always felt like something was missing. I read about Necro class and got excited. Do they play like DKs in WoW? Is there an army of the dead type move? I only know about a mass rez move as a healer (is it an ultimate or regular move? Probably ultimate I am guessing)

I quit because trials are impossible to get in and you couldn’t que in them, and guilds for the most part are useless, at least the ones I found. That, and I was never an ‘elite’ dps and had no idea how to get the good gear without being in trials where I bet they drop.

Is the game worth coming back to? I’d probably try if Necro was good and I could become the type of ‘melt everything in sight’ dps. I ran support and was a mediocre yet serviceable and competent I was ok but couldn’t solo melt everything like the rare player I came across in dungeons. I want to come back but need help. How can I get to that level of dps? I have 900+ cp and one of every toon before I left.

You will hear both "LOVE IT" and "HATE IT" for Necros. There were a few QoL improvements recently, but the game is mostly the same as when you left. There are new guides out for the new meta for recent changes and old guides for basic damage dealing strats if you're interested

Well... not like you have to pay for a subscription, so whether or not you come back its free since you already bought the initial cost of it. I always find these questions weird for games that don't have a mandatory cost to continue playing. Download the patches, and test the waters, if you don't like it you lost nothing.

That being said, they did introduce a Guild Finder feature to help players find guilds and GMs find players.

The game is in a great place, and the lastest Chapter is dare I say the best released so far! Necromancer is refreshing and gotta love the new Dragon hunts and trial. The latest sweep of balancing adjustments were much needed and addressed some very broken mechanics such as DK reflective scales have no counter play. Artifact weapons are interesting, and we have faction pride again now with faction locks (even though some people are upset, I honestly feel this was a much needed change). I'm a little frustrated with "criminal acts" being attached to necromancer abilities causing you to gain a bounty and heat if someone sees you summon a skeleton or whatever, but i'll adjust... Hopefully they undo that, but if not I think I'll live.

Specifically regarding mass summonings: There is a morph for reanimate that summons up to three blastbones (exploding skeletons) from corpses on the ground. If you use this with your skeleton mage summon and your blastbones summon you can have 5 attacking skeletons on the field at once, 6 if you include the ghost summon that heals you.

There are a variety of options for customizing your necromancer. I personally use boneyard with wall of elements, and the bone armor to pull people into my AoEs for PvP.

That being said, the update did bring a few bugs such as blastbones not leaping at targets consistently, not targeting the enemy you heavy attack everytime, and the ability having an incorrect tooltip, corpses despawning, and problems with group finder. Like before with big chapter updates, these too will be patched and this is the early release so it is to be expected.

So yeah, some cons, but mostly pros. I would say now is a great time to come back to ESO! Just my opinion though.

depend on you, for me is yes, i just came back after 1 year of clean from ESO lol
I quit because trials are impossible to get in and you couldn’t que in them, and guilds for the most part are useless, at least the ones I found. That, and I was never an ‘elite’ dps and had no idea how to get the good gear without being in trials where I bet they drop.

so this just my personal take, i'm also a pve centric player, not really keen of pvp, i love doing dungeons and trials, i'm not a min-maxer thus i don;t have the best dps out there, but still adequate cause i still know the way of rotation

now you can have guild finder that you can easily find guild that fit with your playstyle, look for big guild that have low req, usually that kind of guild that have the most active and welcoming

now, about trial finder, its mostly a BAD idea, but i feel like it can also be implemented if its only useable for Normal Trial, but anyway, if you want trial, just shout DPS/HEALER/TANK LF *inserttrialnamehere* on Craglorn, i always find my pug Normal Trial that way, and always work

Game is fun but only invest money on it if you plan to do only questing or plan to play outside of the primetime. If you want to do dungeons and BGs during primetime good luck using the dungeon finder, you will be waiting for ages pressing the F(vck) button and not getting in a group.

At the 100,000 foot overview, PVE is the same as before. Player skill (much more than gear) determines where you fit in endgame. In my case:
    • My wife and I can duo the easier half of dungeons in normal mode and some of the easiest ones in vet. We can also solo the easiest ones in normal mode.
    • I can PUG heal any dungeon in normal mode and at least the easier half in vet.
    • I occasionally have difficulty with a round in nMA or one of the easier rounds in VMA, so I figure it will be a slog and "learning experience" when I finally buckle down to do VMA all the way through.
    • I've never done a trial; I'd like to get a little better at not-dying before I inflict myself on a large group.
    • I can solo at least the easier world bosses.
    • Delve bosses and so on simply melt. I've soloed public dungeon bosses with characters as early as Level 8.

Honestly this game has never (or rarely) been in a better place for PvE. The CONTENT is very good and there is a lot of it now, and any balancing issues are honestly fairly minor (stam a bit overtuned in very endgame gameplay only).

You can't have an "army" of the undead but you can have undead minions (archer/mage and a healer and a "suicide bomber" type as well as some graveyard skills). The class looks cool and it is definitely strong, specifically on the stam side.

You can DEFINITELY get good gear without raiding (especially for mag gear is a bit easier to get), BSW/MS/SS are all either purchasable and easy to farm and MS is generally BiS on all mag specs. Stam is a bit harder but you definitely DO NOT need BiS gear to complete content and then farm new gear.

If you want specific DPS advice/assistance my discord is lassitershawn#6133 and if I don't know the answer to whatever questions you have I'll hook you up with someone who does.

In reading this I would have to suggest you do not come back.

My reasoning is you do not have an attitude for a MMORPG and the issues you complain about are really personal and nothing in game related to it has changed.

You want to do trials but want the opportunities to just happen for you. You say guilds are useless for the most part when it is guilds that are the best source for getting into raids.

Put it this way. 5 years ago I joined a "worthless" guild. I wanted to raid and no one was putting together raids. I stepped up and started putting them together and started clearing trials. From that some players found actual raiding guilds, told me about them and I started raiding more. Today I raid as much as I want to. Yes, I lead some still, but most of the time I am in someone else's raid.

So you can bemoan how things worked for you or you can make things happen by putting in the effort to find a guild that works for you or form raids yourself. If you're reply is you do not know enough about the raids to form one, 5 years ago I did not know jack. Some would say I still do not know jack.

It is your choice and you get out of this game what you put into it.

Even if you manage to get best gear and a top rotation, you still gonna struggle with your melt everything dps you are talking about, simply because of the average pug player doesn't buff / debuf properly. Unless you have a premade group ofc. Also they nerfed 1h enchants, so I actually seen many players refuse to use crusher because "it sucks now". I have been entering a veteran dungeon and recieved zero buffs. I mean literally zero. Range taunt. no combat prayer. Selfish ults. Not even minor sorcery I got. And my dps was so low I was embarrased.
Other than that, I don't think going on forum and ask if you will enjoy the game is the right thing.
Personally Im back a bit as well, but no raid or anything, but I enjoyed elsweyr. I just completed blackrose prison with some friends, and I try get some achievements and motifs I didn't have. It's also a lot more interesting in the gold market atm I think, since for example hakejo is up and a lot of motif drops, and the dragon ingredience that drops in elsweyr. Idk, I played every day and I enjoy more and more. So just try out and see for yourself. I vote yes, game is good come back.

I only play PVP (PC EU) so my answer would be no ,not worth it, the perfomance is laughable and insulting (big delay) so even if has potential dont worth the come back for someone who is gone, for those who stay then better have a good motivation for it (a good friend , nice guild ,or just want play really casual).

Now about PVE... i never got remotely interested in the end pve content and by what you wrote you are a PVEr , a new class helps to bring interest to people ,i already saw a lot necros around and perhaps the new chapter zone is fun ,then you have this new guild finder but i had no use it so no idea if is useful

Honestly my opinion is that i would recommend this game to people for the Pve (but not for the pvp) however you already got the point where you try search "elite" guilds for do the end content etc,and anyway it made you quit ,so as long you dont get lucky and find a nice pve guild at the moment you come back, then i would not recommend the game ,if the Elsweyr chapter (talkin about zone ,quest, pve in general there) is like the vivec one (last time i spend money on game) then absolutely not worth it.
    i love magicka nightblade

I should quit a game I've been playing for five years because I don't think the game should continue a trend of power creep? Two years ago 25-30K DPS was considered optimal. Now it's 55-80K. Nerfs aren't enough. They need to overhaul the damn systems in place that enable this exponential rate of power increase.
Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 10 years. 7 paid expansions. 22 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the vast majority of this game.

    @heartburnkid ,
I'm not going to lie to you. I'm just going to tell you how I feel about eso. I love it !!! Elsweyr is stunning and very engaging. I can't praise it enough. The necromaner class is fun.I made a mag necro and a mag necro and i hope to make a necro tank but Im still levelling them atm. I play all classes and every class has it's own unique qualities to offer. I have my favourites but some days I enjoy a class I don't normally play just for a change and I end up having a lot of fun. Eso is really what you make it...all the tools are there to go crazy with it.

Guild finder is great and makes it super easy to find a guild that is more suited to your individual needs. You can even include a note when you apply to a guild. You can write what you like and edit as you please. Guild finder even has an advanced search feature. You have to try it out.

I personally don't like to rush through content. I like to take it all in and immerse myself in a chapter and take in all the little details. I really think the devs have done a superb job at creating Elsweyr.

The quests are engaging and rich in lore. The landscape is gorgeous, the architecture breathtakingly beautiful. The npc characters are captivatingly, funny, endearing and some mysterious and shady. There are also a few dark souls. You really need to come explore this exotic and enchanting land.

    There Dragons 😆

If you want end game vet challenge then there are a lot more guilds willing to train players and help them achieve their goals. They help with builds and gear etc.

I came back, zero regrets. I didn't quit for the same reason though. My reasons were that I didn't have the money and my partner gave up and wasn't interested. I just play alone now while he does something else. I really love overworld exploring and housing but I enjoy all aspects of the game. I have to say that Elsweyrs beauty has blown me away.
