free expansions with ESO plus? What happened??

Why are we paying $15 a month and not getting free expansions with it anymore? So now I’m just paying $15 a month for a craft bag and some crowns? I do not like this change and I will not be purchasing the Elsweyr expansion. You guys have changed.

you do know that morrowind and summerset are now in Eso+ right?

just because you don't get it right now, doesn't mean you wont get it later.

the chapters are simply ZoS way of actually getting payed for the hard work.
while eso+ is for paying of the servers.

The "chapter" will be broken up in one year with the zone and trial becoming a DLC that will be part of ESO+. You do not have to buy the chapter as long as you are willing to wait. The new class will not be part of the DLC but sold separately once the chapter is broken up into it's parts.

I am not sure that Zos made a "promise" to us 4 years ago. Especially since they were changing their business model at the time. Further, this is the third time Zos has added a "chapter" like this so it is rather late to be complaining now.

Edit; Zos did clearly say added content would be part of ESO+ 4 years ago, but that is not a promise. Changing that design into something different is not a lie and all of us that had subscribed all this time were able to easily change our minds and walk away over two years ago when Zos announced this chapter design. As I already said, complaining two years after the fact seems a little insincere.

Tamriel Unlimited was a relaunch of the game. Anything quoted for the original subscription-only edition of the game became outdated information on March 17, 2015.

Even after Tamriel Unlimited they carried on advertising the subscription by saying it would include access to all additional content. It was literally on the day Morrowind was announced they changed it to say all DLC would be included and made a huge fuss about how a Chapter is something different to a DLC and of course that wouldn't be included because it's such a big update with so much content...then a year later they stripped out the warden class and called it a DLC again.

There was a lot of controversy at the time, with a lot of understandably angry subscribers. But absolutely nothing changed as a result so by now people have pretty much given up complaining. If anyone was actually going to quit or stop subscribing as a result they've done it by now, and the rest accepted they'd only get 2 releases a year as part of their subscription and have to pay extra (or wait a year) for the 3rd.

Whether you think subscribing is worth it under the current model is up to you. I don't, but then I didn't think it was worth it before Morrowind either.

Because they created the chapter model specifically to charge people cash. It was a bit of a bait and switch when it happened, but since they they have changed their language regarding what ESO+ includes and people have had plenty of time to adjust.

Chapters are eventually added as crown store DLC, making them part of ESO+. If you want access through ESO+, you will have to wait a year.

This is not true for skill lines and crafting lines. Summerset is now crown store DLC. That means you get access to psijic and jewelrycrafting through ESO+ or through buying the Summerset DLC from the crown store.

All that matters is that call it a 'chapter,' regardless of what is in it, and that they now say that ESO+ only gets you access to 'crown store DLC.' The most recent chapter is never in the crown store. Word games, but it is what it is.

Incorrect. ESO+ has always been advertised, as "Access to all of ESO’s downloadable content (or DLC) game packs for the duration of your membership".
    https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/25031

The 'all additional content' quote branches back to community oversimplification of ESO+ terms, not terms ZOS actually used.

They let people think that the sub was all they would need to access all future content (which they thought based on how ZOS pitched ESO+) and then they denied them access by the changing what they call future content to have some excluded. That fits under the link you shared. But, to be fair, it would only qualify as a bait and switch if people had already purchased enough ESO+ before the announcement to take them past the release of Morrowind. If they hadn't, then the only real impact is that their value calculus for subbing versus buying DLC outright was way off due to the change. Then again, buying outright was always a much better deal than accessing DLC through sub.

Did they really say that? Please link the quote because I really doubt Zos ever said "always" just as I know they never promised what you said.

You keep putting words in their mouth in a feeble attempt to bring a justification for your comments and it is pretty obvious.

Simple fact, and something pretty obvious, you have done just fine in life without playing ESO for a long time, based on your comments. So since you do not like the current business model and you are not all that into ESO why don't you vote with your almighty money and walk away. That will tell Zos how you feel much more than your fabricated stories are.

Actually they've said that during tamriel unlimited announcments and soon after. It was their way to keep newly created ESO+ relevant. They've said during tamriel unlimited stream that new ESO plus will give You acces to all downloadable content. Later on they just changed name of one type of the DLC to chapter and decided to charge money for that separately which they continue to do since then.

I'm like "have you guys been living under the rock for the past 3 years?"

Would I want everything free? Yes. Include all the houses, mounts, outfit slots, chapters etc. in my sub and keep funding your million dollar company on your own. Just give me free content. If it's not possible then shut down the servers, don't release new content that is more than 15$ a month.

Don't you ever expand your team of devs because the game is getting more and more popular and you want to keep up with the demand and also raise your standards.

While there, don't forget to remove crates, because even if I dont buy them and only complain of those I get for free, others spend money on them and it makes me feel insecure.

Yep, pretty much this. The precedent that ESO+ subs get new content for free was already set up when they decided that they could start charging for their DLC if they rename them 'Chapters'. Compare Elsweyr to Orsinium, CWC, or Murkimire for example - those have a story zone, world bosses, their own crafting and furniture motifs, dailies, a trial or an arena, and are considered free DLC. But if Elsweyr includes a class it suddenly costs £30-50? Lol.

Not to mention the sub-nonsub-model that ESO are going with... the value of ESO 'expansions' is significantly less than other MMOs. Battle for Azeroth, WoW's latest expansion costs £40, and comes with 6 new zones, 6 new races, 1 trial and 10 dungeons. If players remain subs, they get free access to all the new content, including new zones, new trials, and added new races over time. Elsweyr as an 'expansion't obviously offers far less content for barely less £30-50. And it offers barely more than free DLCs. So it seems like the people that get the worst deal are ESO+ subs that buy Elsweyr.

They have not lied. Geez. They put together an ESO+ model 4 years ago. But they have every right to change said model. It is not a promise. They decided to alter that model and came up with what we have now.

This also isn't the first time they changed the model. They've added new perks to ESO+, too.

I wasn't upset when they introduced the chapter model at the time, but I was a bit peeved when they then made it DLC and thus part of ESO+ a year later.

But, this is all old news. This is the THIRD chapter. If you've actually been around since 4 years ago, you would have already known this. Why are you just now complaining about it?

And again. It's not a promise. It's not a legally binding contract. They set up the model, but it's always been and will always be within their right to alter the model or even get rid of it altogether. When the model changes, and you don't like the new model, you have every right to cancel your sub.

But this isn't some binding legal contract. It's a plan that you subscribe to. If you no longer like said plan, then you unsub. Simple.

As others have said, Later along the line, much like Morrowind and Summerset, Elsweyr will become DLC later along the line but until then, It is a chapter.(and a good one at that.)

Purchases of subscriptions and other such content are a “Conscious” decision made by the buyer and as such, if you don’t like it, then don’t buy it. It is about as simple as deadpool making flapjacks.
