Can you get rid of this? It gets old to join a group and half of them are in a different phase. Yes I know we can "port to" one of them to get in the right phase, then we get to run from where ever the closest wayshrine was to rejoin the group. Also, I ran into an issue yesterday where a bunch of us were waiting for someone and they ended up in a different phase from all of us, so we had to log in and out over and over trying to get in the same phase (grouping in this case wasn't an option for reasons I won't go into here). That was a whole level beyond frustrating.

I know this game has quite a few players but it isn't a HUGE player base so why is this phasing needed? I'd love to see more players around, not fewer. Please get rid of this feature.

    I don’t. I’d like the opposite.

More instances. I suppose it differs by platform but it seems all zones are well populated on PS4.

If there's a reason not to group, then that would be the problem to fix, not the one you've created.

ESO is build around this, instead of having 100 different servers like WOW have, ESO has 6 based on platform and location.
Popular zones get multiple instances as in physical servers. Mostly people group up to do dungeons and trials to all will port to location and its no problem.
Yes it has some downsides, Reaper march and Craglorn overland group content is primary as Rawl is an major crafting and trading hub and Craglorn is the looking for raid hub and strong in trading.

However then you compare to all the issues with the 100 server solution have, as in your on an dead server so you pay to move to an more populated one who then get overcrowded because event or expansion.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I used to play SWTOR and that game utilized multiple instances once it merged the servers down to a reasonable number of servers. The nice thing about the instances in that game is you can see which instance you are in and then easily change to a different instance to play with friends or group mates.

Would you rather the game have channels like BDO?

You may think there aren't enough players to justify phasing, but the EU players would probably like a word with you.

When I log out of one toon to log into my WW to bite someone and when I get to the shrine they aren't there, yeah wth. So I relog to my other toon and there they are. Yeah ok so we group then I have to port to a wayshrine to get in the same phase then run all the way back. Yeah, no thanks. Oh we group for a dungeon, well two people are out of phase so here we go again. Ugh. Oh and let's not forget seeing the biting WW and Vamp NPCs only to have them be in a different phase when you return with the toon you want bit.

At the least we need a way to hop phases without having to group.

Just "travel to" the person you're trying to sync instances with. You don't need to be grouped up to do this.

The area has a different appearance after the quests are done which is why there is phasing. I think it is a great way to do things but understand the inconvenience. I do not see Zos having an easy way to work around this. Certainly not one worth the cost for the benefit.

There is a reason not to group.

    No thank you please.

Also, I guess you are grouped to do something? so go into a Delve or whatever and have the rest just port to the one in the delve. That way always works.

I've been playing ESO for about five years and have only had this issue when someone in my group was not at the same point as me on a quest. The last time this happened was in Coldharbour and we quickly realized the other player had not done the quest line to be where I was. And that was about three years ago.

As for Group dungeons I have never seen this happen. Ever. I run dungeons every day using the Group Finder and have never seen this.

The only times this has messed with me is trying to join a group for trials. I would see a zone message needing a healer would message them to hold the spot and I would switch. I then end up in a different instance and that blows that. After happening a couple of times I made sticky notes my friend and I jot down the @name before I log off.

Oh and it bit us in the butt other times as well now that I think about it. We were having scavenger hunts where guild members had to find all the officers. Can't be grouped for that and as it was across multiple zones it caused all kinds of problems. We found a work around but it was a real pain in the ...

The megaserver will try to put you with friends, guildmates and grouped allies. If you are trying to get into same instance as someone is not one of those then what are you doing, stalking?

Same with PC-NA. JMHO, existing instances are far too crowded. Questing's painful before 11 PM PDT.

Good and potentially related points to my thought. There was another MMO I played (I think it was Rift) that had a group merge/unmerge feature that could potentially address what I consider to be a pain point with phasing. It is very annoying when using the dungeon finder and I have queued with one or two friends. If somehow the "core group" could remain intact so we all travel back to the same phase after the dungeon is over, if we all came from the same place, it would save me from so many load screen and annoyed feelings.

Example scenario (although I have many variations on this theme): I'm doing pledges with some friends and guild starts up a trial. Some of us promise to go as soon as the dungeon is over. We quickly disband and stay un-grouped so as not to hold up the trial; accept trial group invite. I am friended with and guilded with the people who were in the dungeon with me. After accepting trial invite, I realize I want to give someone a piece of gear from the dungeon. Those dungeon mates almost never are sent back to the same city instance as I am.

Sometimes this even happens when we stay grouped and all travel back to the same city. I try to give someone a piece of gear and nope, they are invisible. Yay, another load screen. Double load screens if we both realize immediately and hit "travel" without announcing it to each other, ending up again in opposite phases.

Sure, this sometimes is avoidable but doing what comes naturally (leaving group to be ported back instead of waiting for one person to travel and then joining them) causes this to be a very annoying feature for me. I frequently do NOT see myself put in the same phase as a friends and guild mates or even group members.

Another idea from my perspective would be to allow trading across phases. Pretty much all of my pain points come from trying to trade.
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.
