One-Hand and Rune When?

Such a huge archetype in TES, and ESO desperately needs some new weapon options for magicka builds.

Any news on this potential new skill line lately?

    idk if the engine can handle it. and i dont think zos will do that anytime soon even if it's possible.

    The weapon line has been datamined. And why wouldnt the engine be able to handle it? Its just a weapon line.

    I would have put money on it being the "big thing" associated with Eleswyr, before the necro was revealed.

    Now I wouldn't expected it until the next chapter.

    I'd love a spear too, but where dev time is concerned one-hand and rune makes a lot more sense. If you want to add spears then you need to create: a brand new animation set; weapon models for all nine races, including their four different tiers of quality; the material skins for all the different crafting mats; and a unique weapon model for every motif in the entire game :#

    With one-hand and rune the animations for the light and heavy attacks already exist. You just need animations for the skills like any other new skill line has required. The weapon models already exist, and you're not creating any extra work in the future with regard to weapon model work. Seems like a no-brainer from a workload perspective, and magicka users finally get another weapon option.

    What? The engine can handle a staff, the engine can handle a sword... Why could it not handle 1h and Rune? This isn't a physics or rendering issue, its just about adding new animations and deciding on the attack style.

    Personally I'd like to see it act as both a melee and a ranged weapon, hitting faster for more damage in melee range while swapping between sword and spell for attacks. Then using just the spell for ranged attacks, resulting in slightly less damage but still allowing for ranged playstyles.

    The problem does exist that the idea lends itself naturally to to a hybrid playstyle, which is simple not propperly viable as the game stands. They would either need to make it pure magic or fix CP and resource damage scaling to no longer shoehorn everybody into one resource type.

    They can make one hand rune weapon skill like if you have

    They can make one hand rune weapon skill like if you have

    I'd say they should make the runes craftable with the enchanting skill line (allowing for multiple elements, or perhaps even special effects like reduce armor, absorb health, or prismatic), and make it so having a rune equipped automatically counts as a second piece of whatever set you have on your 1h.

    That would be great to have. Something for a true spellblade style gameplay. I know that would fit great on my magblade.

    Anyway, I wouldn't hold my breath. If it eventually comes, it will most likely be with a new chapter, so at least one year of waiting.

    When? If the Skyshard packs sell well in the Crown store and they implement a few more purchasable skill lines, I'm sure they will add it to the game. I'd expect it packaged with next years chapter or purchasable with Crowns for the base game.

    I'd imagine it would be the ability to add elemental attacks with your one handed and a few ranged elemental attacks. The removal of elemental type damage buffs in the racial passives could point to a pre-balancing of the addition of this weapon type.

    True, but many class skills cant be converted to stamina :) like weaponsorc and weaponknight

    This instead of adding more half-baked skill-lines I would prefer a greater rework of morphs or adding a third one to the class skills.

    Every class skill in the game is a base magicka ability unless i'm mistaken...this skill line would be awesome to have in the game though

    It can handle it, we already have sparkle ponies and battlefield bling... that would just be more of the same. I like the idea, adds something original and different.

    Warden and necro are already purchasable skill lines. You need to buy it to use it. They needed to nerf all the base class to make these 2 turds appealing to players.

    And skyshards will be purchasable in elsweyr.
