I shudder to think. I am going to resist doing the math for two subscriptions, one maintained for most of the length of the game (I’ve been here since closed beta), and the second ever since Morrowind.
Money spent on expansions — I’ve bought them all for both accounts.
Money spent on crates — zero. Never have, never will buy crates.
Money spent on crowns — don’t know or want to know. I usually buy them when they go on sale..which reminds me, isn’t there a crown sale right now? Oops, there goes more cash. If they are not on sale, I don’t buy.
Money spent on DLCs — zero, since I’m a subscriber and plan to continue to be one.

My biggest expense has been crowns during crown sales—mostly because of housing. I have far too many houses. In fact, I just bought the Island, the only notable home that I’ve ever regretted not buying.
I’m going to play on my beach!

I bought one crown pack, once. I've bought the expansions, but usually not in the collector edition. I absolutely subscribe to ESO+. And I basically only have one account, except that I have 3 mules on @DarcyMardin's second account. :)

Got the game on sale, never bought any DLCs. Been ESO+ for 4 years. have bought 12k crowns total over 4 years... Always on sale. And I dont buy crates....

Meeeeeh, MMO's are by far the cheapest games to play consider time spent playing. My ESO budget would crumble if I were to buy 2-3 single player games a week -_-

    Around ~1k € BUT

~5years subbed and with base games/dlc thats ~800€.

makes 0,4-0,5€ per day, and thats seems okay

The shocking thing about this ... ~0,5€ per day is your average cheap coffee ! ADD IT UP! xD

I havent calculated mine recently but last I checked it was around $2500 so by now it is at least $3000. That includes my sub that has been going since early access back in 2014 and all the crown packs plus the collectors editions of both physical and digital chapters.

So that's about $50 a month for the OP.

I spent $775.02 since 2015, so that's about $16 a month, and I have all DLC, Expansions, etc...... you bought way too many crowns man!

Even so,.. i still think that's quite reasonable.

It's better if I don't look at my spending history, never mind actually writing it down in black and white.

I'm a strange gamer. I will buy dlc, but I actually rarely play it. I tend to buy games when their goty version or the game's equivalent goes on sale. By time I've played the base game, I'm ready to move on. As for ESO, I think I've played each dlc and chapter once. I do not get my money's worth from them at all. I no longer purchase the dungeon dlcs (began ignoring them with the release of falkreath) and I only have Murkmire because it was free.

I think the only dlc I have actually enjoyed was what we got with The Witcher 3. That was quality. Added content like we used to get back yonder.

It's died down a lot since my son was born last year so it shouldn't be hard to catch up

Back when I was still at my parent's house and had a lot of disposable income so there were times I would spend half my paycheck on crowns but moving out and getting married changed that real quick. Now it's just my sub each month along with an occasional crown pack or two and of course the chapters when they release.

Interesting topic. Maybe I'll come back and share if I find exact numbers but I am probably in the couple of thousand range and have played since launch. I am a subscriber, and have purchased all expansions and digital special editions. I limit myself to buying crowns a few times a year.

I agree that generally speaking it's an inexpensive hobby. I was in a class today where people were joking about boats. I have never purchased a boat (or even a house) but when you think about hobbies like boating ESO seems cheap any way you slice it! :D

I will say my total would look MUCH higher if I included my gaming rig, internet access, etc. Now, some of those things are not just for ESO, per se, but all are prioritized higher than other expenses due to my gaming habit. For example a while back I kicked cable to the curb and went with a FIOS internet-only plan, because I'd rather have high speed internet than a bunch of TV channels I never ever watch.
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

It's interesting to note the few subscriptions for x-box and so - but how many of you have updated or purchased a new computer because of this game?

    In my household:
    2 new PC's were purchased
    2 subscriptions
    2 crown packs per year
2 base game and all chapters

we are retired - and we play internet games and spend time in the garden.

How much have we spent? No more or less than we could afford and no more or less than we wanted to for our entertainment

I really really dont know. Ive bought the game numerous times over not just for myself but others, maybe 7-8 times total. 1 time on PC and the other on PS4 for myself. Accidently buying myself the Collections Pack when trying to figure out how to gift it to a friend on console. The rest for friends. I have spent probably a thousand plus on Crown packs and hundreds on Crown Crates. Just about all of my Daggerfall Overlook, some 700 items, were crown store purchased. And I have been subbed to ESO+ since it launched on PS4 the entire time except maybe for 1 month.

    Joined Black Friday of 2017.

ESO+ is 255$ (Joined it in December after realizing how bad inventory was.)
Crown Packs is 95$ (Only bought two since I've joined. Both times on the 50% sale.)

    Overall: 350. Or 20$ a month.

Considering I don't eat out a lot/don't spend money often not bad for a hobby. It's a lot better than League ever was.

It'd probably be a lot worse if the crown store prices weren't so obscene since I like collecting stuff but man it's hard to justify 20-40$ for a mount I'll never use.

Lol I'm a customer no gaming company likes: On Budget And Very Patient.

So I bought ESO when One Tamriel came, and I don't think I paid more than 30 € for it, plus 2 € for all races unlock. Tried to get into the game twice and didn't like. Got an idea to give it one more try, and look, it finally clicked (I think big thing was that now I was given a free horse soon when starting and it made travelling so much more pleasant). So now I wanted to play 24/7. I bought Summerset for 13 €, and Morrowind for 10 € (estimated). Still wanted to have the Clockwork city because Sotha Sil is hot and I like the Daedra war-questline. My prayers got answered and Crowns are in sale, so I bought some and bought Clockwork city. I still wanted the Imperial race, and what do you know, that went on sale too and I still had enough crowns to get that one too.

So I've spent maybe 70€ and likely won't spend any more, before I can get Elsweyr for a moderate price.

Eso+ would be awesome just for the crafting bag, but I can do without. My budget is really tight and food wins every month.

I am guilty as well, but nowhere near the 1000 mark or close. This is exactly why we have stores and gambling in games. RATHER then the devs putting this stuff in normal content. Sad really, really sad.

      I added mine up recently and it's $2,600 over 3 years. $866 a year, or about $2 a day.

There's a strange stigma even among gamers that spending money on gaming is dumb and lame.

Personally I'd rather be spending $2 a day on harmless entertainment than a myriad of vices that cause harm to your physical health. Think about how much people drop on cigarettes and booze.

Then there's expenses like concerts. People spend $2,600 for a single event or vacation. I don't know why I should be ashamed of what I've spent for a hobby.

I've spent far more on my horses. Ask a horse person what they spend per year and you'll be REALLY upset!
