Essence Thief - Anyone look at this?

Has anyone tried Essence Thief now that it has been changed? I wonder if it may be worth using. I will try when I get home from work, but it looks pretty decent now.

It still sucks.

I mean the essence spawns slightly closer now but it was nerfed and it can still spawn anywhere 360 degrees around your target. It could be fine sometimes and then it spits the essence out underneath your tank and you get one-shot by the boss trying to grab it.

I don't know, maybe it could see some use in like vMA or 4-man content. The sustain and damage increase from it are (and always have been) really nice it's just not practical.

Sounds good. I was curious but that still is a bummer.

I tried it too (paired with the new Coldharbour’s Favorite and Balorgh).

@LiquidPony is right ... it’s still difficult to sometimes spot the rune.

This was especially true in the big dragon fights where 10-15 players were assisting.

I really want a reason to use this set. But, other than casual overland or solo, it’s still going to collect dust in storage.

The essence needs to track to the player.

And it was slightly nerfed it is defiantly not any better then it was before.

I think perhaps to make this set better more practical, it should spawn within a 5-8 meter radius from the player.

I have always like this set's concept, but its execution is not practical. No one should have to, nor wants to chase after a buff.

I actually love this set and how it works. It's a very, very strong buff and collecting it can be a bit jarring - my only gripe is how often it happens. It happens too often which means you end up with large gaps in DPS that ET is not strong enough to make up for.

Perhaps increase the duration and cooldown from 10 seconds to 15. This set will naturally have a either an informal cooldown or a period of lost DPS as you go hunting for your essence. It also needs a clear and easily distinguishable sound indicator.

Great improvement, 100% chance on light attack makes it easy to know when you are going to proc it.
