You just cant bring that much luggage nor would you.I play on console because:
- I'm on a budget
- I have easy access to a vast, inexpensive library of kid-friendly games for my kids
- A controller that comes as standard equipment and can be mastered much easier sitting reclined on my couch than keybinds and mouse clicks (by both me and the kids)
- It's portable (vacations, day-trips, etc.)
- Don't have to worry about after-hours pc viewing habits infecting my gaming system
- I know when I finally completed a vet trial / vMA it was my skill and not some computer program telling me when to push the 'X' button or roll-dodge
- Voice chat
- Functional Temperamental voice chat
- Alternate uses (Netflix, Blu-Ray, DVD, etc)
So I'm always glad when backward compatibility is announced so when the time does come to upgrade I'm not leaving my entire game library in the wind.

My experience is PS4 population >>> PC, but it could be time of day. Just wondering what you guys see and how that might relate to the debate.

Pointless commentary that ignores 2/3 of the player base as well as the other 90% of the remaining third with terrible hardware. Keep this crap out of the thread please.
Peekachu99 wrote: »WTF? This dropped out of nowhere. SSD, Navi chip and raytracing. Also backwards compatibility with 4K focus. More details in the Wired article here:
https://www.wired.com/story/exclusive-sony-next-gen-console/
Key Features:
- CPU: 7nm Zen 2, 8 cores
- GPU: custom Navi, including raytracing support
- SSD + custom interfacing to massively increase bandwith (Spiderman freetravel demo: 15 seconds to 0.8 seconds)
- PS4 Backwards compatibility (other platforms not confirmed)
- Physical media
- PSVR '1' compatible
- on-chip 3D audio support
Obviously this is relevant since this is a platform on which ESO plays. Can’t wait myself. Day one.
Edit: @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom Obviously we need an enhanced version on PS5 day oneAs you all were so kind with the Pro. Maybe look at cross-platform too?
Edit 2: For those with the drive-by comments, the Wired interview is at Sony HQ watching live demos on a next gen “PS5” dev kit. Do read the link before commenting. It’s hard, I know, but try.

I proved that you made pointless incendiary commentary? Technically you proved that by posting that in the first place. I’m reminded of the “I don’t like thing!” gif, which is especially relevant for about half the posters in this thread.
You don’t have to like consoles, but you probably should have a basic respect for them and their players since they’ve been keeping the lights on in this game.

my point was that PC does a better job than consoles...I have a different opinion regarding consoles but you know why PC will always be top over consoles? no graphics...no higher FPS...no ultra performant top notch hardware...nothing of this matter...but just 1 simple small yet important thing...
ADDONS that's something that sadly will always top pc vs consoles and others...and yes some people came with good arguments on why consoles are nice to have most I never thought of them cuz I was never in such a situation...but I was strictly referring on ESO side...and frankly I played eso on xbox/ps4 as well...compared to the pc its just...not that goodsure nice updated for consoles are always welcome and not just for consoles but all platforms...its just that some platforms will perform better than others...

Ever hear of the portable PC? I think they call them laptops and the screen is attached right to the rest of the machine.

I’ve played on console and PC extensively since beta and universal voice chat for every piece of content as well as plug and play simplicity is something you can’t just hand wave away.
Not salty at all, either. I just don’t see why something we should be celebrating as a community—more hardware for more members of the ESO community—needs to be immediately crapped up with PC master race memes. More saddened by the predictable responses to other people’s joy. Maybe examine your need to feel superior and/ or rude to others who are gladdened by the announcement of next generation hardware?
^ this +1
Built in voice chat makes a massive difference, and there are other things that are hard to make up for w/ PC.
I only need a controller on console to boot, play games, watch videos, etc, instead of 2-3 peripherals to have a good time. I can controller from just about any position while kb/m needs certain surfaces / arm space to work right. Everything just works - no driver incompatibilities and other issues to figure out. It’s super easy to move my PS4 from room to room or to hotels, friends’ places, etc, vs moving a PC around. Now you could argue for a laptop but then your argument on PC having a better price point would go out the window.
That said, there are good things about PC too, mostly that graphics “can be” better and smoother. Mods can make or break some folks in combat and help with things like finding skyshards/books. You can also get into your account and play from multiple devices - I use my tower for real sessions and use an old *** laptop when I just need to do simple tasks like crafting while watching tv. You can also controller if you like, once you’re logged in of course.
Anecdotally playing on both platforms all week I have to say that PS4 seems more populated than PC as well, which surprised me last year too as I really thought the player base would be bigger on PC. And I know this is going to be seen as flame bait but I would argue that having to play without combat mods makes a lot of PS4 players better. Taking down bosses all week on both platforms, it often took fewer PS4 players to get the job done while it was a struggle on PC. Again this is just my experience so ymmv.
In the end there’s no need to dump on either platform, both offer a good experience but I would like to see a PS5 version with graphics equal to PC. We’re talking about ESO here, not modded Skyrim.
Yes, but an good gaming laptop is pretty expensive as in $3K for something like an ps5.xan4silkb14_ESO wrote: »IronWooshu wrote: »Number 4 is the biggest for me, I work on the boats (freighters, container ships and chemical/oil tanker ships) so I am gone for 6 months scattered throughout the year and being able to just take my PS with me is perfect. If only PC gaming was that simple, huh? The reality is often very different. I'll stick with my peasant machine because it's plug in and play. None of this arsing around with settings, finding drivers etc when you inevitably get a game that simply doesn't do as it's told on the first boot up. Folk tend to only post the end result when it comes to PC gaming. Anyone that claims PC gaming is plain sailing is either deluded or lying. Great once you've wasted hours on some games, it's no contest really, but like i said, the plug in and play nature of consoles vastly out weight the benefits of PC gaming for me personally. Not got time nor patience to set up *** or try to find the cause to crashes etc.

What a salty little man, there's 0 reason to play ESO on PS - zero, nada, nope, none. PS should only be used for PS exclusives, it offers absolutely no benefits (it's not even anywhere near on par) over PC gaming.MLGProPlayer wrote: »That's nothing more than speculation.
But It will almost certainly be using AMD since AMD is cheaper than Intel/Nvidia and Sony/MS already have a relationship with them.
I'm not sure why you wouldn't just build your own AMD PC though. For like $1000-1500, you can build a rig many times more powerful than the PS5.
Ah yes, the "just build a PC argument "
Yes, do that. If you're gonna give 400-500 EUR for a PS, you can get a PC which outperforms it in every single aspect for that money.
You're not going to get a better PC for the same price as a console. But if you're willing to spend a little more, you can get a beast. The low-end PC market isn't good value.

$1k - $1,500 isnt "a little more" at all. That's 1 1/2 paychecks for me and ive got bills to help pay. Thats the main reason why so many choose Consoles. Economy gaming.
