TG/DB event announcement

couple of things above have been stated wrong.

The two minute timer after completing the main objective is for DB, not TG.

The boss spawn for the thieves guild is when you've completed the full objective. Depending on the locale the boss either has a single spawn point, like in the Grotto or one of two points for say Deadhollow. The boss does have a set movement pattern so once you know it then it is way easy to avoid.

A hint for when starting with heists and sacraments. If you fail and quit the mission to reset it you need to give it enough time to fully destroy the instance before starting again as if you managed to trigger the boss it will be there waiting for you when you restart. I find five minutes usually works, ten definitely does.

I only got 6 tickets last event; but I think they’re good for the community as a whole.

A lot of folks couldn't care less about the Indrik mounts, but starting later in the month you will be able to buy Outfit Style Pages and pets with event tickets, so there won't be any surplus if you want to get everything, and possibly a shortage, in which you will have to decide what you want to buy with the available tickets, and what to pass up.

The pressure to acquire tickets will increase (and thus why you will have to start buying them in the crown store if you want to get everything offered.)

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/5750728?_ga=2.33984802.2074211849.1551859970-370846402.1498883385

There is some concern about not being able to get everything unless you buy tickets, but I'm less concerned about that now that I know that the Jester's Festival is more than the 5 days it was last year. It'll be 11 or 12 days this year, so you can earn enough during the event for the final berry and the pet.

As for the Outfit Style pages for Cadwell's weapons (the Outfit style for his armor will be CS only), we'll get 60 or so Stupendous Boxes from which these pages can drop. And, they are tradable. So, it's possible to get these without having to buy tickets from the CS.

Granted, if you haven't been getting as many tickets as you can, then you will come up short on getting everything. I've missed a few tickets from not logging in between 1am EST and 10am EST on the last day for some of the events, so I have probably 6 or so tickets less than what is possible to have earned at this point. Right now, I have the Nascent Indrik, a full set of feathers, one additional of the first feather, both Dawnwood Berries, and 11 tickets. I can easily get the third berry and buy a couple of additional feathers (or just one and hold on to the rest to buy the 4th berry when the Jester's Festival starts). Then, during the Jester's Festival, I can earn enough for the final berry (or buy it right away if I saved tickets from the previous event) and the Indrik pet.

But, we don't know what other items they might put up for sale for event tickets if they feel like they're not selling enough of them. I'm not sure we can count on just the feathers, berries, and pets, and an optional way to get event items that can also be earned in game. What the event tickets in the CS do offer, though, is a way to get some of the items without having to burn yourself out or never go on vacation.

I miscalculated the number of Stupendous Boxes we can receive during the Jester's Festival. I got it into my head that there were 5 daily quests instead of 3 (which I know it's only 3, but that's what I get for trying to post while I'm at work). The event is 3/21-4/2 (according to the CS Showcase), so that's a max total of 13 days (if you can play between 1am and 10am ET on the 2nd), so 39 boxes. I was only able to test on PTS for 2 days, so I only got 6 boxes, and not a single Cadwell page dropped from them. So, the drop rate would have to be improved to where you could at least get 1 per day, as there are 10 pages. These boxes also drop stuff from the regular boxes, as well as fragments for 2 mementos, so getting a page will be pretty rare. So, while we can trade pages, what few there will be for sale will be rather expensive for the average player.

But, this has strayed off topic, so on topic - I'm looking forward to finally doing some heists and sacraments. I never really wanted to do them, since I figured I wouldn't be able to do them perfectly to get the pages. I have both TG and DB motifs, so I don't need to worry about doing them perfectly. And, since I'm doing them for the event tickets, I'm just going to do them as quickly as I can, but I'll still try to do them stealthily at first, to see how it goes. I've got my Night Mother's Embrace and Night Terror gear on my Dunmer.

@Jayne_Doe I hope you have fun doing them although it's likely that you'll get frustrated also on occasion. I may have been a bit grumpy in my OP but it's not because I think these are ridiculously difficult. I have two characters (one NB, one dk) with all the related achievements already. It's more that I'm in an awkward place; I've done them enough that the exploration and discovery is gone, but not enough to be able to reliably do all locations flawlessly the first time through (particularly for heists, sacraments I find easier to complete all objectives). It's also not where my interest in the game lies right now. But to those doing these for the first time, I do hope you have fun.

@kringled_1 The good news (for you), is it appears they've switched up the patterns a little bit.

There's still the awkward *** where you'll ricochet off a ledge by running into a blade of grass at the wrong angle, but that's just the poor pathing and character movement built into the base game.

@Everstorm they seem impossible, at first, fair enough. Once you learn the patterns, locations, throw on some thieving gear, and realize the trick to beating the timer is more about patience and not getting caught than speed, the timer becomes an afterthought.

People assume they'll run out of time, so they get greedy and get seen. Getting caught has a much larger effect on your timer reduction than hanging out and waiting for the right moment ever will.

Once you realize that, you can make the timer with time to spare, even if you do muck up and get busted a couple times. In fact, if you're close enough to done, you can skip stealth entirely and just run to the exit, because the penalties won't matter.

For the sacraments, you get four mistakes free of charge. For the heists, well timed use of rapids and even one set of thieving gear can get you done in well under the 8 minutes allotted.

First I heard of that. Thanks!

Yeah you get 5 alerts. You can be spotted four times, and if you still achieve all the other objectives it still counts toward your Flawless Sacrament tally. Get spotted 5 times, you get a lesser reward and less DB points.

A couple more things, may have been previously mentioned:
    • If you do fumble a daily (well, today's daily), you can abandon the quest and pick it back up. For TG, you can go back in straight away (the final 'boss' may be there, but they don't actually add much to the requirements in the first place.)
    • If you muck up a Sacrament (get caught 5 times), same, drop the quest and wait about 10-15 minutes. The instance will reset (including the alert status) and you can try again.

In both cases, dropping the quest while inside will immediately port you out. No need to actually find the front door again.

I ran through a heist last night without any concern for staying undetected. In fact, I went in staves a blazin' and killed every npc in there while sprinting as fast as possible to each chest location. When I turned the quest in I still got a purple "coffer" and it included a TG motif, so I don't think perfection is necessary at all - at least with the TG heists.

For RP reasons, my character is only in the Thieves Guild, not the Dark Brotherhood. So I don't stab my victims. On the other hand, I only needed to pickpocket twice the last couple days to get my charcter up to rank 3. So I'll be doing heists only for the rest of the event and leaving the pickpocket farms alone.

@Feric51 Motif chance is slightly higher with perfect run, plus you'll get some extra gold (laundered items to sell) and the occasional counterfeit pardon. Straight clear with no regard for time will only net you some laundered item (lesser value) and the occasional motif.

    @ZoS , fwiw, I suspect you're losing some $.

    75% off two DLC's sold > 50% off two DLC's not sold.

Also a little disappointed the Aegis is not being sold as a standalone item.

Yeah, the heists are a perfect opportunity for you to develop your werewolf skills. Just transform as soon as you start and slaughter everybody in the name of Hircine! (and some of the NPCs you will encounter are werewolves as well, so consider it a test of strength!)

Sacraments are a different matter, as you will generate a snoutful of bounty doing this!
