vet Depths of Malatar - King Narilmor mechanics?

Can anyone explain the mechanics to the King Narilmor clone jutsu fight on vet? I get that only one clone takes damage at a time, but which one?

I know about healing Tharayya.

People have said to group the clones up and aoe them down, but this just seems to make them all disappear at once with him taking no damage.

People have also said to focus one clone at a time with both dps. Seemed to work once, but other groups have struggled with it.

All that's worked is somehow lucking out and finding one that takes health damage.

I keep queueing into groups who are stuck here infinitely, even with enough damage/heals/tanking for the rest of the dungeon.

I did it once, but can't repeat it. Anyone know mechanics or strategies? Very perplexed here, can't find guides or videos that have helped

doesn't matter which one it seems, we just focused one down until he teleported away and then damaged the next clone!
It worked the best like that, trying to AOE them down was giving us trouble so taking one out until he teleports and the other clones get the same health seems to work the best ?

The DD's need to target the same clone at the same time and take them down as quickly as possible...

The best way I found (please anyone pipe in if there is a better way) is to always start at the door and go counter clockwise...and skip the real one, soon as all the clones are down, aim for the real one......and repeat till he is dead.

Hm okay. I think the "pick one and focus it" is what we tried when we ran it successfully the first time. Second group must have not been executing it as well, or had too much aoe. Hopefully it'll work next time, thanks so much c:

I have noticed that once you do find one that takes health damage, it's when THAT one disappears that he summons more. Had one run that focused them all down so well that there were like a jillion narilmors after a while x_x

It seems they all get a shield, when you break it, if it's a clone it disappears. What worked for me is when you find the real one(break the shield and not disappear), just focus it and kill it instead of bothering with clones.

It's the same fight mechanic that the topside boss in HRC used to have prior to this patch.
    • On time intervals, the boss will split into 4. One copy will be "real" and the other 3 are decoys. It is random which copy is real.
    • They will all have a damage shield.
    • The decoys will die immediately when their damage shield is destroyed.
    • The real version will continue to take damage after its damage shield is destroyed.

The goal in this fight is to locate the real version and kill it. It is not necessary to destroy the decoys to win this fight. If you find the real version before destroying all the decoys, just ignore the decoys and focus down the real version that you just found.

    *SPOILER ALERT*

they only get the shield when your healer fails to heal Tharraya succesfully (=when she loses the fight with her dead husband) which makes the fight harder.

There is no magic trick. Have tank taunt all while avoiding aoe while dps hunts down and kills the clones which continues some dmge on the real boss until it triggers the next set of clones and so on until he dies.

Thanks everyone so much for their help. It's been a lot better since groups have gotten on the same page to focus 1 at a time & heal tharayya (who really needs to do some training).

That being said, he also seems to disappear & summon more clones once he or the other clones have taken enough damage -> if it's just him and 1 clone left, he disappears much sooner. Helpful to know to not touch the other clones if you find the real one

    Anyway, thanks all ^-^

We ignore the clones and listen to the voice over to get the location of the real boss. He speaks before he portals to a new location and can hear where he is porting back in

I've found that stuffing my tank face into a corner (specifically the one left of the exit when I was running this) gathered all the clones very nicely for AOE.

Yeah, a group member taught me this while I was tanking this boss. The clones seemingly don’t aggro together well but if you go deep into the corner they will get right in there too. Occasionally they don’t go all the way into the corner and you have to come out, retaunt, and go back to the corner.

Life-changing if true. Will investigate ...

For groups I've run with, this just winds up never moving his health. And is very, very slow. Might just take hella more DPS than we had

Edit: That being for groups that had enough DPS for the rest of the dungeon

Our tank just aggroed all of the clones and went to the corner to bring them close and we just burned them all together.
the hardest boss was the first one, all others are easy.
I will show you fear in a handfull of dust.
