Oh god no... that means the game ends for me if they raise the gear cap... I'd certainly not farm for every damn item again, and I don't see a way they'd introduce crafting levels without raising the gear cap.

They cannot simply remove progression from this game / put halt to progress and not just give something else in exchange. That doesn't work.

And to have a gear cap at a quite low amount of CP never made sense. What about removing CP from gear entirely and give us something else?

That's all fine and good... but they can't possibly pretend for people to have to redo all the farming of all the items they need for all their characters... it not reasonable.

You must be new to the MMO genre cause this is exactly what basically every other one makes the players do. They have to make sure people keep hitting content, even OLD content.

ESO has been great as it is don't need to mention other sub-par MMOs. Mind you ESO was the one picked as MMO of the year once again. No need to copy bad examples from companies that don't rollout content as fast as ZOS so they resort to gear grind over and over again. ESO's system in this matter is much better than the competition.

I believe they just need to fix their query script to filter out "discontinued" or "not available" items. Such is the case of the old soul gems and new enchanting tiers.

Just because another game did it, does not mean ESO has to.

Playing the hampster treadmill, regrinding old content youve aleady done 50 times to upgrade gear you have already grinded for is not fun, interesting or compelling game play.

I have 15 characters, will soon have 2 more to do that content on when slots become available. We have events and people still do pledges every day. We do not need a gear cap to make people redo old dungeons

All the old soul gems - exchange them for the new standard size and cull the entries for the old ones completely.

Do you remember that Giant Spider monster piece that made it into the Golden? It was never released in any dungeon. The shoulders were never placed in any undaunted chest. Should that remain in players’ inventories? https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/388406/giant-spider-set-in-the-golden

Code housekeeping is a thing, and neglecting it leads directly to bloat as the cruft accumulates. If the chore is left too long, the eventual only solution becomes a complete restart from the ground up.

There are a number of broken items with those question-mark icons that should be recalled from circulation simply because the item code is broken in some manner. Just like how a dollar bill that is physically malformed during printing is kept out of circulation and destroyed, and is sent for destruction if the treasury gets its hands on the malformed bill, so too should the broken items be reclaimed for destruction. And the same goes for discontinued bills - the $500 and $1000 bills were released but have been discontinued. If they are circulated at all they get reclaimed by the treasury and destroyed, replaced by smaller currency.

Legacy discontinued junk should be reclaimed and dumped. A mini-update that is solely for the culling of legacy obsolete discontinued carp should be performed, to streamline the size of the game. Last update was 84 gigs. That’s 18 dvd discs.

18 dvd discs. Let’s cull the legacy junk. Dump the discontinued.

ZOS said they'd give us a notice a year in advance if they consider adding more levels. My guess is these were in the files before 1Tamriel and now they have just copied and pasted a list, forgetting that there are levels included that have not yet been released.

Increasing gear item levels would make all current content irrelevant unless said content increases its cp along with the item level increase and thus makes it pointless. No way in hell.

Possibly, but in an MMO there has to be end game progression. I think the power creep wasn't the issue so much as how spread out and difficult it is to balance the CP system. Having a higher gear tier would allow a more controlled progression system

That end game progress does not have to be. Endless gear grind like Swtor or WoW every 6 months...I despise that type of gameplay.

Agreed, not going through 100 items of gear each on 15 (+more with Elswyr) and upgrading the items again for a couple more levels. And not gonna play gimped either. Combined with the horrible jewelry crafting grind now and forget it. Done deal for me.

New crafting tiers for Elsweyr would have already been announced. It's more likely that those are just old unused assets that never made it into the game.

Even though those cannot be looted anymore some ppl still have stacks on stacks of them and do put them in trader. As far as the glyphs I haven’t saw them since I started playing at release nor have I ever saw them mentioned. I don’t think they’ll raise cap. Most likely just 160 solvents. Hard to determine on the glyphs because the name is determined by potency which is by level. I would like to see some dual stat glyphs or other new damage glyphs but they would still be truly superb glyphs at cp160 so it is a bit worrisome.

I think it’d be cool to see gear progression simply add to something you already have. Improve in both quality and level. Solves the issues of both needing progression and not ruining things people already grinded for.

How about we not touch gear levels unless it’s gonna be to add the missing cp160 potions, and nothing else ffs

I should probably don a tin foil hat, because I'm starting to believe ZOS hates me personnaly.

My main was a stealthy PvE thief Bosmer that happens to be a master crafter. They've already taken away my stealth. It took me years to be master crafter, and I'm only starting to fully upgrade all my character's gear to gold. If they do some bullsh*t like that, I might as well stop playing.

If a gear cap raise ever comes (and Rich has already stated they are aware of the problems this would cause) I’m pretty sure ZOS introduces a conversion currency for the old items. Which will be rare drops on DLC Dungeon Hardmodes that are coming in grains and you need to refine 50 of them for a coating of conversion, where you need 5 of them to have a 100% conversion chance.... ;)

    Don’t even joke dude.

Also WOW works in an totally different way ESO does. WOW has fewer sets who are tiered, questing, normal and vet dungeons, trials in multiple tires. Gear level is as important as set bonuses, its also easier to get gear.

WOW drops new zones with updates who adds lots more than ESO does but rarer. All moved to the new zone and the old become an leveling zone.

ESO on the other hand has sets who is more grindy to get but far more relevant sets for various content.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I for one hope that the gear stays capped as it was, players have had enough equipment changing all the way from level 1 to level 50 (150 CP) to finally settle at the current 160 CP maximum.

Please, do not raise the gear cap above 160 CP or its equivalent if CP get reworked.

I do belive that those are old items that no longer drop, but some people still have them. I remember not so long ago browsing through a guild trades and I found "Lire" rune that was an unknown rune for my character. I was confused and after short research I determined that at some point those were discontinued and replaced by other rune, but old items are still being kept by some players.
The wiki states that there are 2 runes like that:
    https://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Essence+Runes
    - Jaedi
    - Lire

Anyway, I doubt that gear cap is going to change. If some of those items are by some chance new upcoming items, then I am 100% sure that those will be mid-tier items, rather than new top tier items.

Both are max Champion 150 (Lorkhan's Tears, Alkahest, and CP 150 Recipes).
