Tips on soloing Imperial Prison 1st boss on normal as magblade

He guys, I can easily solo normal dungeons except if they of course require more player mechanics.
I can't solo the final boss on pirate bankorai as I turn into a skellie and am done for.
But I am struggling in the imperial prison with the 1st boss.
I tried HA with lots of defence. My problem is I get snared and can't get out with mistform as I stay snared.
He does a very strong attack which really hurts. I block, cast shield but eventually I am one shorted.
Any tips on armor sets or strategy?

SirLeeMinion✭✭✭✭✭I haven't tried Imperial Prison solo, yet. However, I wanted to mention that you can still solo Captain Blackheart as a werewolf. The skele transform does not occur when you are in WW form.3 -

✭✭✭✭✭I just gave this a try for the fun of it.
I know, from having tanked this boss, that his flurry hits very hard and can't really be avoided since it tracks you as you move. Not something to heal through or shield through or try to avoid--I must block it.
So, with that in mind, I decided to try this with an ice staff. Going in with a typical DPS setup (17K health, light armor, etc.), with the following changes:- Front bar ice staff
- Back bar lightning staff
- Refreshing path instead of Twisting
My first attempt, I just tried to just straight burn the boss and just block the flurries. I mean, it has less than 1M health. That... didn't go so well. My second attempt, I decided to take it slow and kill the adds. And that worked. It was really sloppy, but it worked. (This was on the Update 21 PTS, since I didn't want to waste rosin on Live golding out an ice staff, in case you were wondering why I didn't slot a destro skill on my front bar.)
TL;DR: Get an ice staff, block the flurries, kill the adds so they don't gang up on you at the end. No need for heavy armor or anything else.Edited by code65536 on February 22, 2019 2:24AMNightfighters ― PC/NA and PC/EU

Yesterday I tried wearing ice heart and combat physician but I failed. I'll try your tips and see how it goes. I never expected to solo this dungeon, but I just want this 1st boss.٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶

I would say that blocking is the most powerful tool in a player's defensive toolkit. More so than shields. More so than resistance or armor. The way I approached soloing tough content as a magblade used to be equipping sword-and-board on one bar. But now that ice staves offer the same bonus to block mitigation and block cost reduction while still allowing normal staff play and allowing me to use the resource that I have plenty of, it's a far superior option than going sword-and-board for this sort of thing. (I general, I think ice staves are underappreciated and get too much forum hate by people who don't understand its use cases, but that's another topic.)Nightfighters ― PC/NA and PC/EU

Dodge roll the heavy attack. I did it with stamsorc and it was quite easy but then again, vigor and surge are quite OP heals.
Just make sure you have stamina up b4 the next HA. Focus on your selfheals and let the aoes kill him. Focus the ads time to time.
Just to let you know that you cannot solo this dungeon. I got to the place where you need to open the gates with 2 switches.... no can do.
