The crown store is affecting the main game for the worse

Imagine complaining about the most harmless cosmetic features of the crown store but while ignoring advantageous features such as 2x bank space + an unlimited account wide storage for materials oof

The amount of items whose main purpose is to clog up limited inventory space is a huge nuisance, but still workable. I've recently come to see how the game is after not playing for 3 years. I walked in an enchanter's hut, noticed a new table... interesting... nope, paywall. Then I went roaming in the wild, gathering the new top-level mats and such, and found some little glowing box... what is this... ugh, paywall. Back in the day, we'd say this breaks immersion. But in the end, players' immersion in the game world is not as important as ZOS' immersion in their wallets, right?

Right back at you @Nyladreas - whatever you need to happen, I hope you see it soon. And - well... things are better here now: husband had to have a procedure on a vertebra.... not "major surgery".... but the fallout is that I have to do things that.... aren't optimal for me.at 71. So I have to take things slow, and not get - angry and frustrated.

Seriously, y'know? 20 years ago none of this would have been an issue. *sigh*

I'm 71 too @Sylvermynx, and you are so right! Mind you, even 5 years ago over here things wouldn't have been an issue......but since then, 6 operations down the line with a totally undomesticated husband who did try to help, but gave up after a day of fighting with the oven (eventually worked out how to turn it on, but then put a pie in and left the door open lol), has rather confirmed my view that growing old is not for sissies, to quote Bette Davis or whoever it was.

Hope your husband recovers really quickly and you are back to normal soon! :)

My New Years Resolution is to buy no more Crowns.

And if we all did this, there would be no more game to play. Let them sell what they want. You don't need the latest skin or ugly mount to play the game. Some of us couldn't care less.

So the $15 per month that we pay for ESO+ isn't enough for ZOS to keep the game going? If so then perhaps ESO deserves to die.

Im not even sure where to start with tearing this argument apart. Or if I should even bother.

1.) The subscription model is not a lucrative method of maintaining, let alone profiting off of an MMO anymore. Hasnt been that way since the early 2000s. Inflation is a thing, and not much if anything is the price it was 20 years ago.
2.) Subscriptions are optional now. Meaning not everyone is subbing. We dont have the numbers on how many are subbed, but its unlikely its enough to keep this game afloat in its current state.
3.) Even when subs were mandatory they werent profitable. People like to blame Consoles for the B2P Model. But it was coming one way or another. Thankfully we got the B2P model and not a F2P model because the penny pinching would be 10xs worse than it is now.
4.) Those DLC and Chapters that we all enjoy would not be rolling out as often or as densely packed with content as we get now. We would be lucky to get a Clockwork City or Dark Brotherhood DLC. And they would drop maybe once a year, and Im being very generous here with timeframes.
5.) If ZOS was forced to rely solely on subs as a means of profit. This game would be dead, it would likely be on life support and the truth is content, even balance passes would likely cease. No one is in the business of flushing millions upon millions of dollars down the drain in hopes that a handful of players will eternally pay 15 bucks a month to them.

FFXIV does just fine with a solid subscription model and have grown their subs to 14m. But it is a very well managed and cared for game, ESO has always lacked the level of quality that we expect from a sub, so most people do not sub. All you get is a crafting bag and some bank slots, whoopie do, the core game is still broken and somewhat naff.

For the sub model to work, ZOS would have to do what SE did and fix the core game, but ZOS have chosen a path of least resistance; sell tat in the Crown Store.

Tell me again how many subs ESO boasts? And is FFXIV free of microtransactions?

Oy, at least both of us are able to cook! Serious, that's one of the major things that can SO bollix life.... if you don't get how to make a meal!

Husband's good for cooking. He can sweep snow off the decks. He CANNOT lift anything over 5 pounds - and boy, making that stick is.... painful.

He's always always done whatever needed doing - when I was working a lot farther from home than he was, he got home and started dinner. When I had back issues due to an accident, he did EVERYTHING that I couldn't do, without complaint. When he retired and I was running my web business, he cleaned, cooked.... whatever had to be done. NO ONE could have a better partner.

I'm feeling that he's not going to be released to do the heavy stuff. So.... I'll be looking for someone to hire. Right now, the local volunteer fire dept guys are handling the snow around the vehicles and up to the basement door. It doesn't help that we actually live "in the back of beyond" - but we do have some great folks to help out. Hate asking for help - but you have to do what's needed....

Thanks. I appreciate that others understand. I hope things are also better for you! And, Happy New Year. May it be better for EVERYONE.
