    • You can teleport to guildmates once you have a guild, menu > social > guilds> roster, select char to tele to.
    • Be sure to join the mages and fighters guild as soon as you create your character, dont wanna miss out on xp for those guilds!
    • Deconstructing an item from each tier of materials one time will get you a lot of great dyes early on in the game. I believe the dark red one is the same dye from a fairly difficult achievement concerning dark anchors. Really great crimson color.
    • This site is fairly helpful: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Online
    • During this quest, The Mad God's Bargain, do not accept the spellbreaker staff, instead take the Folium Discognitum for two skill points you will never have a chance to get again.

If you have either the Morrowind or Summerset chapter dlcs, DO NOT START QUESTING IN THOSE ZONES. Why Zenimax drops you off in Summerset--the last arc of the story--is beyond me. The amount of new players I've met that end up so lost and confused as to what's going on story-wise and end up missing out on a ton of references because of this really, really irks me. It's an issue that needs looking at imo.

Read EVERY bookcase you find in any delve.
Make your crafter early - my mastercrafter is an orc templar uses 2h on both bars - this let me pump points into crafting )once i had all the racial passives etc)

READ THIS GUIDE BY @Dottzgaming - it is excellent:

level up your mount (backpack first) at the stablemaster and research crafting stuff EVERY DAY

Eh, if one subs ESO+ (as I do) backpack is the last for me. But for non-sub, yeah. As for research - new folks, listen up: traits are VERY important down the road. The better the crafted set the more traits you need to know.

So, yeah. Hit that research icon as often as you have it available for learning.
One tips from me is to start some alts once you get an feeling for the game and at cp160 there you start collecting gear.
This has multiple benefits: first is as bank alts for hold gear.
Second is other classes or builds like tanks, healers and tanks has shorter dungeon queues.
Having ones in various factions is nice for pvp if you join other guilds down the line.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

You're not doing it wrong until you start doing trials. Then, its probably time to streamline your build and work on a rotation. And don't be in a rush to do trials, vet dungeons, etc.

    Um.

Don't believe anything you read on the forum. In fact.... don't go to the forum at all.

Play what you want, don't chase the meta.

If pvp is your thing, this isn't the game you're looking for.

If questing is your thing this ABSOLUTELY IS the game you're looking for. Corollary: be sure to do the first part of the Psijic quest line, because you get REALLY GREAT SET PIECES (and other stuff) out of the Portals once you can see them.

I recently switched my stamplar back to bow/2h and some friends of mine completely flipped out. But I like it. So. Much. Lecturing.

    1. Ignore any and all meta.

    2. UESP is your friend. Your dear, dear, friend.

    3. Look at special offers on the crown store.

    4. Do item research on your character. I don´t care that you are "never going to craft anything". Having a 9-trait crafter was one of the essential things that got me emperor. You don´t know when ZOS is going to introduce some spellcrafting you really want to do and suddenly you realise you need 3 months to do the research.

    5. There is no newbie PvP. Sorry. I have been a guilty party in this. I did really want that emperor title :#

    6. Many of the sidequests are kind of crappy, but every once in a while there is a gem. There is a sidequest involving Azura in Grahtwood that I found quite engaging. And in general, DLC quests and dungeons are a LOT better than the vanilla ones.

    7. Take breaks.

    8. If you are going to do the questlines, know that they actually do come in an order and don´t quite make sense if you jump around too much: The Main questline should be done along with the Alliance questline (they converge in Coldharbour). The Fighters guild and Mages guild questline could also be done at this point (before you enter Coldharbour). Morrowind, Clockwork and Summerset should be done in that order.

    9. I would highly recommend the Map Pins addon, since you can customise it and cut down on search-and fetch while keeping some stuff not marked on the map if you want to search manually. Also inventory insight or something similar if you have several characters.

    10. As an exception to the questline order, do the Psijic Quest so you get the rifts activated before you play in the relevant zones on the mainland. It allows you to not have to do a long, dull fetch questrun later. Also, again, have an addon or write down which rifts you have completed so you don´t have to run around the while map looking for that one missed rift.

    11. If you see Lady Laurent or Stibbons, do the quest. Those two are absolutely adorable. Kireth Vanos and her brother are also worthwhile to get to know a bit.

During this quest, The Mad God's Bargain, do not accept the spellbreaker staff, instead take the Folium Discognitum for two skill points you will never have a chance to get again.

Sure, if you are a sick, twisted, minmaxing individual B)

Don't fall in love with YouTube builds. You can do much better with a more realistic build you create yourself.
Also, most parses you see put there in YouTube vids are done with builds the YouTuber would never run in actual content

Play for the journey, not the destination. Take your time, and don't let others bully you into grinding for speedy leveling or following a certain build. Play the game your way, nobody else's.

If on PC, don't worry about addons at the beginning, just focus on getting the feel for the game without them and you might well find you don't actually need them.

Again if on PC, buy from and play through ZOS, not Steam.

If on console, don't fret over the lack of addons that are exclusive to PC. Most are just providing shortcuts for players who then complain about how easy everything is and how bad their game's performance is.

    Have fun!

If you intend to PVP, start a brand new character and go into Kyne with that character until level 50. Delete and repeat this until you have run through every single class in both stam and mag versions. And then pick one or two and level and play them in the CP campaigns. The amount of experience you gain doing this is immeasurable. Not only do you learn how to PVP against players of equal or similar skill, you also get to learn the ins and outs of a class, its weaknesses and strengths, as you are limited to the skills you can use at certain levels. Not only does this give you a better understanding of how to use your skills, it provides insight in how to counter opponents. Many players stick to one character and do not try others and they never actually learn how the other classes work and never learn how to counter them.

Though, honestly, if it's just one thing, "don't grind." The only thing you can **** up permanently, is your first time experiencing the game. Play the content, don't feel like you need to be at endgame to enjoy ESO.

Level your character(s) by doing what you want to be doing with them in a year or two. If you want to tank, level your tank by tanking. If you want to do pvp, level your character playing pvp. If healing or dps is your thing, do it from the beginning. You won't learn everything you need to know for endgame but you will have a head start on where you want to go.

Don't be afraid of pvp. It's different from other games and can be a lot of fun. It doesn't matter if you die, everybody dies. Even those guys on twitch die.

If you're gonna craft, subscribe to plus and start right away. Longest grind in the game (hopefully, I mean there is a lot of RNG and some of them fishes just don't want to be caught). It is also much more difficult without the craft bag.

Forget about housing for a long while. It is very expensive and not very useful for a new player. The housing items that can actually help you are easy to access if you are in a guild. The free rooms will do for now. You can get one in each alliance plus one in each chapter if you have access. Just create a character for each room you want to claim.

If you join a guild that has a trader, alchemy reagents are the same for level 3 characters and max cp characters alike. They usually sell quickly in partial stacks and you can make decent gold from them.

Most of all have fun. If it's not fun, this might not be the game for you.

Many of the things you see in the crown store can be acquired in game such as Mount upgrades, bank and inventory upgrades, vampire and werewolf upgrade, experience boosters, food and potions etc

Nothing in the crown store will give you a tactical advantage.

Choose only one character to be in charge of crafting, aka dedicated crafter. do not split crafts between characters because motifs are per character. Once character can be researching traits for each of the 7 craft skill simultaneously. “Outfit styles” to make your own “costume” are available account wide after your dedicated crafter has learned the motif.

Gear that you find before cp160 is not worth holding onto. use it for crafting research, or deconstruction or, sell to npc vendor.

Pick up all the crafting nodes you come across.

Getting to cp 160 is just the beginning and cp level does not equal expertise.

There is no such thing as kill-stealing in pve.
There are no such things as threat levels in pve just “taunted” and “untaunted”. Some bosses will still randomly jump to you even when taunted. It is random even if it seems like it’s always you.

Use online builds as a template/guide/goal post but not written in stone.

    Everyone needs a good tank.
Healers have to do damage too after all their buffs and debuffs are cast.
Damage dealers (dd) need to help with rezzing when they can.

Be aware that you are not the owner of your account, Zeni is. They can close it at their discretion for any or no reason. You cannot make them close it if you want it. You cannot make them grant you access if you lose it. Every time you contact the support you surrender to their goodwill.

Take nothing for granted. Your main char will be nerfed into the ground, your endgame gear will not remain meta. You will have to regrind new chars and new gear over and over, which is on purpose to add playtime to your account.

You will find ingame purchases and content quite similar to gambling.

If you play tank, grinding overland is horrible. If you don't play tank, queuing for dungeon raids is horrible.

Never pug alone. Running dungeons with a friend or a guildie is a good idea. If experienced players try to votekick another player, think about possible reasons for this action. Sometimes they will kick you as well if you agree. Sometimes they just want to get rid of a weak or incompatible player and will keep you. However, making a statement like "NO, WE CAN DO THIS!" will get you into trouble. :p

Endgear farming starts at CP 160. Some players believe that kicking a sub-160 player for a farm run is ok. Some believe that this is forbidden and an abuse of the votekick funtion. There will never be consent.

If players threaten you with filing a report over you, don't be impressed. You will probably not get punished unless you are involved in hate speech, fraud or heavy exploiting. If people accuse you of harassment, don't care if you just use ingame mechanics. You will not get punished for quest disturbance, kill stealing, throwing mudballs etc. - otherwise I would have been banned a long time ago. >:)

High level does not equal high skill, never believe that.

Don't buy this game on steam. You could do this, but you would regret it.

Don't do PvP for the Dominion. You could do this, but you would regret it. o:)

Take Sylvermynx’s first piece of advice before reading the above.

When you start the game, always research traits on all the gear you find, as often as you can.

Remember to feed your horse every single Day.

Upgrade your bankspace in the bank, and bag space at a bag merchant whebever u can afford it. This is a investment further down the road.

Learn Motif on your Main character only. This Will make your life easier.

If you are on PC get master merchant addon, before you join a trading guild, which will make your economy easier ingame.

If you like pvp this is not the game for you, however if u still want to give it a shot, Daggerfall Covenant is the way to go, this is where you will find the most faction loyal and skilled PvPers in the game.

If you are heading for Imperial City, never go alone.

If you play BGs, you will die by Snipe and Steel Tornado ALOT. You will also run into premades and get completely demolished over and over again. Bear in mind, that this does not mean that u are trash in PvP, you were only unlucky to meet ppl abusing broken things, and you will keep meeting them, deal with it, and show them your skills when the broken stuff have been fixed.

Other then that, u Will also meet ppl sometimes that talks trash to u, and tell u to uninstall etc. Just ignore them, that kind of ppl are called elitist, let then make you stronger instead.

    Have fun! :-)

Don’t grind up levels, there are plenty of players at end game that spent months chewing up the same patch of zombies and now they are at max level they don’t have the first clue how to play

Take your time, this is a marathon, not a sprint

Do as many diffrent things as you can find, see what you enjoy

Listen to quest dialogue and explore any options for asking the charecter questions, there is some hilarious stuff in there

Do dark brotherhood in the small Gold Coast zone before murkmire, that way when you talk to any sinister black clad argonian you may get great extra dialogue and witty references

Don’t take anything on the forums as gospel... to be honest this applies to the Internet in general
