    Um.

    Don't believe anything you read on the forum. In fact.... don't go to the forum at all.

    Play what you want, don't chase the meta.

    If pvp is your thing, this isn't the game you're looking for.

    If questing is your thing this ABSOLUTELY IS the game you're looking for. Corollary: be sure to do the first part of the Psijic quest line, because you get REALLY GREAT SET PIECES (and other stuff) out of the Portals once you can see them.

    You don't have to learn everything at once. Just play and have fun. You'll run into opportunities to learn as you go. (There's plenty of time for pain when you decide to make alts haha)...

    Eh, if one subs ESO+ (as I do) backpack is the last for me. But for non-sub, yeah. As for research - new folks, listen up: traits are VERY important down the road. The better the crafted set the more traits you need to know.

    So, yeah. Hit that research icon as often as you have it available for learning.

    Wayshrine to Wayshrine travel is FREE, teleportation to one using your map is NOT. (I still run into older players who don't seem to know this one....)

    Better yet, join a large social guild, open up the guild roster (pressing G), you can teleport to any player, in said guild, where ever you might be, freely as well. Really handy, can break immersion I am sure, so don't use it if you don't want to, but for other people, it can be an awesome way to get around to places your character might not have been to yet for certain holiday quests or the such!

    You, and the zones you enter are the same level, so you cannot accidentally port yourself into a high level death zone as well. (I mean, not counting group / raid content) (I don't remember when this was changed to be honest, there used to be level ranges for zones, but not anymore it seems). So if you don't like the zone you started in, or want to see another area of the game, even at level 1, don't be afraid to explore!

    You can become a werewolf or a vampire in this game, if you want to! It is one or the other per character though. Each has their own perks and cons. You can always decide to never become either. You can also get a cure for it FREE, from a NPC in game at any time, if you wish to no longer be one. There are also a ton of people giving bites away freely as well, your best bet is to ask nicely in Reaper's March, The Rift, or Bangkori.

    That is all I can think of right now, half awake here.

    Be aware that you are not the owner of your account, Zeni is. They can close it at their discretion for any or no reason. You cannot make them close it if you want it. You cannot make them grant you access if you lose it. Every time you contact the support you surrender to their goodwill.

    Take nothing for granted. Your main char will be nerfed into the ground, your endgame gear will not remain meta. You will have to regrind new chars and new gear over and over, which is on purpose to add playtime to your account.

    You will find ingame purchases and content quite similar to gambling.

    If you play tank, grinding overland is horrible. If you don't play tank, queuing for dungeon raids is horrible.

    Never pug alone. Running dungeons with a friend or a guildie is a good idea. If experienced players try to votekick another player, think about possible reasons for this action. Sometimes they will kick you as well if you agree. Sometimes they just want to get rid of a weak or incompatible player and will keep you. However, making a statement like "NO, WE CAN DO THIS!" will get you into trouble. :p

    Endgear farming starts at CP 160. Some players believe that kicking a sub-160 player for a farm run is ok. Some believe that this is forbidden and an abuse of the votekick funtion. There will never be consent.

    If players threaten you with filing a report over you, don't be impressed. You will probably not get punished unless you are involved in hate speech, fraud or heavy exploiting. If people accuse you of harassment, don't care if you just use ingame mechanics. You will not get punished for quest disturbance, kill stealing, throwing mudballs etc. - otherwise I would have been banned a long time ago. >:)

    High level does not equal high skill, never believe that.

    Don't buy this game on steam. You could do this, but you would regret it.

    Don't do PvP for the Dominion. You could do this, but you would regret it. o:)

    One Tam changed that I believe - everyone is now "cp 160" when outside a major city. I think that's how it works.

    If you are able to get the game on PC try to download the PTS. A lot of my friends gave up on the game because they never got a feel for how they wanted their characters to be. With the PTS you can play around with a variety of classes, skills, gear sets, consumables, etc. without having to worry about putting in a lot of time to get everything that you need.

    Favorite Foods and Potions
    https://media.giphy.com/media/3otPoTggaYFNd1FdAI/giphy.gif
    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

    Rule of thumb: remember this is an MMO, not Skyrim multiplayer mod.

    Adapt the difference and embrace the community. You will find it great fun and great help to join others, even if you don’t do endgame contents.

    - Guilds are helpful!
    - Don't be afraid to ask questions.
    - Don't be afraid you make your build/character what you want. Don't feel pressured!
    - Don't rush your first time through. :smile: The lands and lore are beautiful! Take a moment to embrace it.
    - Traits take awhile to research, sooo... best to start those quick, if you're gonna be craftin'.
    - Food+Drink makes things alot easier!
    - Don't buy your upgrades with Crowns first! The price goes up in gold the higher the level! Gold first, then Crowns. (Does not apply to Riding.)

    Complete your armor/weapon sets. The bonuses make life a lot easier.

    Crafting can be a great lifeline in this game if your loot drops stink. So invest time in deconstructing gear you don' t use.

    Open every chest you can find. Like the portals, you can find nice set pieces in them.

    Look for Mundus stones the moment you get to your Alliance's first major map. They're a nice boost at the beginning when you need it the most.

    .

    _____THE FIRST CHOICE_____

    It's simple - do you want to be a MAGICA or STAMINA player?

    * Magica players use a staff and magic spells at range to do magic damage in light armor and stack shields and heals to protect themselves. Lightning staff is for damaging multiple targets and a flame staff is for single targets. Staves do Magic damage and is indicated in Blue. Magica damage is boosted by max magica (especially) , spell damage; spell critical & spell penetration)

    * Stamina players use a bow from distance and then gap closes to fight up close and personal with melee weapons of steel in medium armor and use block, dodge roll and shuffle to protect themselves. Bow and metal weapons do Physical Damage indicated in Green. Physical damage is boosted by max stamina (especially), weapon damage; weapon critical & physical penetration)

    .

    _____THE SECOND CHOICE_____

    ALLIANCE & CLASS should be chosen carefully as they are PERMANENT and cannot be changed later on.

    RACE & CLASS SHOULD COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER
    eg.
    magica ( AD/High Elf/ Sorcerer)
    or
    stamina (AD/Wood Elf/ Night Blade)

    NB! Start with an AD Character so we can help you in PvP (Only for Golden Clover guildies)

    REMEMBER to STACK:
    Magica Class abilities with Magica Race passives
    Stamina Class abilities with Stamina Race Passives

    Feel free to create other characters early to train their horses but level your strongest DD to CP160 and beyond as all new characters will then start playing at CP level 160 right from level 1. This will make them much easier to play.

    IF you are a brand new player start with a Magica DD (Damage Dealer) or Stamina DD (Damage Dealer).

    XP is gained MOSTLY via combat & quest completion it is better to wait with other characters such as healers and tanks which normally have low damage.

    Once you get to level CP160 your gear does not level anymore and any new character only has to be leveled to level 50 after which it will automatically jump to beyond CP160 or whatever your highest characters current CP level is.

    .

    _____THE FOURTH CHOICE_____

    SEVEN THINGS THAT SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS:

    * GET A CRAFTED LEVELING SET
    Have a fellow guildie crafter craft you a 12 piece piece leveling gear set with the TRAINING TRAIT; heavy chest & legs; Infused weapons, damage glyphs on jewelry

    * Accept the correct MUNDUS STONE
    Magica - The Apprentice
    Stamina - The Warrior

    * Use the correct BUFF FOOD
    Magica - Witchmothers Potent brew
    Stamina - Dubious Camorean Throne

    * Use crafted spell or weapon CRITICAL POTION
    (or the free purple crown tri-stat potions)

    Major Ward

    Stamina:
    Major Brutality
    Major Savagery
    Major Fracture
    Major Ward

    * Obtaining BEZERK or FORCE will greatly boost your DPS

    .

    _____THE BASICS_____

    1. ALL ATTRIBUTE POINTS INTO EITHER MAGICA or STAMINA
    to achieve the largest possible resource pool possible

    2. Wear DIVINE ARMOR to INCREASE MUNDUS STONE EFFECTS

    To increase the damage for each piece of divine armor worn:
    * Magica characters use The Apprentice mundus stone
    * Stamina characters use The Warrior mundus stone
    (Golden Clover has all the mundus stones at the guild home)

    3. SEEK OUT SKILL POINTS
    (use the skyshards addon and Ulrich's skill point finder addon)

    * Skyshards: 3 = 1 Skill Point

    * Do quests that grant SKILL POINTS as reward
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Category:Online-Quests_with_Skill_Points?fbclid=IwAR35psgDWHW_4dQkE-cE41At6hjxNAIcrlLSWJ8nSqhC0I_En7luBJsB6FE

    * Kill all the bosses in the PUBLIC DUNGEONS

    * There is a skyshard in every delve as well

    * PvP Rank Promotions via the Alliance war & Battlegrounds matches

    * XP Gain via discovering, combat completions (turning black objectives to white)

    If this is you first time then take your time and enjoy the quests but dont waste your time on side quests that do not grant skill points.

    4. USE BUFF FOOD & POTIONS
    * Stamina - Dubious Camoran Throne or Lava foot soup
    * Magica - Witch Mothers Potent Brew or Salmon Millet Soup
    * Have a provisioner make you potions:

    5. BOOST YOUR XP GAIN LIKE THIS:
    * Weapons with training trait
    * Gear with training trait (stacks per item IE 7% Chest + 7% Legs = 14% bonus XP from any XP gained)
    * Group of 2 (+10% extra)
    * ESO plus Member (+10% extra)
    * Ring of Mara (+10% extra)
    * XP Potion or scroll (+ 50% / +100% / +150% extra)
    * Use Festival boosts (+100%) (They stack with above xp potions & scrolls)
    * Do your random daily dungeon in enlightened phase
    * Read books to level skills
    * Have an OP player level you in Skyreach
    * Tag along with OP players running a public dungeon or world boss farm
    * Do the Alikr Dolmen run, The Bangkorai World Boss Run/Dolmen run
    * Find a leveling group at any Zombie location (Indicated by a coffin)

    .

    _____COMBAT_____

    6. COMBAT is not overly complex but often misunderstood and underutilized.

    In COMBAT you want as MANY TYPES of damage, buff & debuffs as possible happening at the SAME TIME.

    Stamina and Magica characters have unique buffs & debufs that should be up at all times.

    It helps to switch your keybindings to R for ROLL DODGE and T for ULTIMATE.

    ADJUST YOUR CURSOR (aka AIM) from over your right shoulder to 1-2 cm directly above your head. ADJUST your FIELD OF VIEW to 130 degrees

    ADJUST YOUR FRIENDLE/ENEMY/INTERACTIBLE GLOWS to 100.

    ADJUST your MINIMAP and heath/stam/magica/effect bars to ALWAYS SHOW

    .

    _____STACK UP THE BONUS EFFECTS_____

    Have as many simultaneous bonuses as possible. This can come from the ones listed below, buffs, debuffs, passives, abilities and other players.

    * 5 of the same ARMOUR TYPE bonus

    * 5 of the same ARMOUR SET bonus (It is possible to equip two full five piece sets so you have double of this bonus)

    * A Monster Head & shoulder Set (2 piece bonus) or Special Weapon set (2 piece bonus) For beginners these are normally agility sets

    * A MUNDUS STONE bonus

    * A FOOD BUFF bonus

    * A POTION bonus

    * A Max stam or Max magica bonus (Damage scales off max magica or max stamina and the more you have the more extra damage you do, this is why we put all attribute points into either stamina or magica.

    * CRIT DAMAGE BONUS (If you get a critical strike you get +50% extra damage)

    * SECONDARY EFFECT BONUS (IE a “burning” enemy will take 20% extra flame damage from flame attacks)

    * MAX CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS from your other characters will be in effect on you newbie character from level 1

    .

    _____STAGES OF A FIGHT_____

    a) STAGE ONE - BUFF
    Buff your character to do more damage, survive better or have better resource sustain (Normally applied just before battle)

    b) STAGE TWO - DEBUFF
    Debuff the enemy to take more damage, do less damage to you or to make him easier to kill or weaken him (Normally applied just before the fight starts, in PvP a immobilisation forms part of the debuff)

    c) STAGE THREE - APPLY A DOT
    You apply a DOT (Damage over time) This is a form of attack that does damage over time to your enemy while you are also doing other forms of damage to it.

    d) STAGE FOUR - APPLY 1 or more AOE's
    Apply an AOE (Area of Effect) that does damage over time to enemies in an area.

    e) STAGE FIVE - SECONDARY STATUS EFFECTS
    Achieve SECONDARY EFFECT STATUS as it gives a 20% damage bonus. IE an enemy that has been set on fire will take even more damage from flame effects.

    f) STAGE SIX - LIGHT ATTACK WEAVE.
    LIGHT ATTACKS are FREE and reduces the enemy MAGICA / STAMINA and HEALTH RESTORE & MAKES YOU GAIN ULTIMATE FASTER

    You attack then wear the enemy down with a LIGHT ATTACK & SPAMMABLE ABILITY
    (This is called LIGHT ATTACK WEAVING. LA’s take about 0.5 sec and a spammable ability about 1 sec. As the LA cancels the animation of the Ability Attack it is possible to do both attacks in 1 sec increasing your damage.)

    g) STAGE SEVEN - REAPPLY BUFFs, DEBUFFS & DAMAGE MULTIPLIERS.
    These normally run out at about 30 seconds so it might be time to reapply them. If its a long fight dont hold on to your ultimate to finish the enemy off, drop it at the start as you will have regenerated the ultimate by the end.

    h) STAGE EIGHT - HEAVY ATTACK WEAVE
    Switch to a HEAVY ATTACK WEAVE if you start running LOW on MAGICA or STAMINA. To heavy attack weave you hold the heavy attack button in while spamming one of the following DOT, HOT, AOE, SHIELD, HEAL. The ability will AUTOMATICALLY go off when the heavy attack is completed even though you are still holding the button down.

    HEAVY ATTACKS ARE FREE AND RESTORE MAGICA and STAMINA

    Another consideration for new players without a lot of CP is to keep your health, stamiina and magica close to full by not doing a light attack weave. Especially on bosses that do huge amounts of damage.

    i) STAGE NINE EXECUTE

    WHEN THE ENEMY DROPS BELOW 20% HEALTH

    Almost every class and weapon has an EXECUTE ABILITY which gives up to 300% MORE DAMAGE when the target is at LOW HEALTH. Find out what it is and use it to finish your targets off.

    You can research the bloodthirsty trait and transmute jewelry to do more damage during the execute phase. 1 Jewelry item is enough.

    _____SIMULTANEOUS ACTIONS______

    Some attacks like applying ELEMENTAL DRAIN does not alert npc enemies so these can be applied just before launching a delayed attack that takes some time before hitting the enemy, and quickly follow up with a light attack and your main spammable. Light attacks delays the enemy's health, stam & magica restore and it is really effective to follow up with a dot & aoe.

    In the case of a magsorc:
    * Surge
    (20% extra spell damage for 20s with Major sorcery + heals from crit strikes)

    * Elemental drain
    (5200 spell resistance debuff + 300 per sec magica restore)

    * Crystal Fragments delayed strike
    ( Big damage + gives 2150 extra points your chance to have a critical strike (+50 % damage) with Major Prophecy)

    * Light Attack
    (Reduces enemy health, stamina & magica restore)
    (Start spamming this while you are winding up your crystal frags, it will go off automatically)

    * Force Shock
    (Big damage, chance to apply secondary effect bonus of 20% damage and applies a dot)

    * Wall of elements
    (to do enhanced damage because of secondary effect status)

    The effect of the above looks and feels almost like a one shot especially if you're on the receiving end and is probably the reason who many new players experience quite a shock in first time pvp.

    When you have sets like Queens elegance & spell strategist that proc their bonus off light attacks the effect is even more spectacular.

    j) _____IF THE ENEMY ATTACKS_____

    MITIGATE the DAMAGE by:

    * Dodge-rolling away from the attack or enemy AOE

    * Blocking to mitigate 50% of the damage

    * Interrupting a channeled attack (The enemy will get a YELLOW GLOW)

    * It is possible to BLOCK-HEAL and/or BLOCK-SHIELD WITHOUT DROPPING BLOCK

    * Counter healing the damage

    * High resistances

    * Placing a damage mitigating effect on the enemy like Major MAIM or a weapon with a WEAKENING GLYPH

    * Adding in some heavy armor (preferably the chest & legs)

    * Using potions

    * Adding in 1 or 2 health glyphs on the armor

    k) _____COMBAT CUES_____

    These can be switched on from Esc/settings/combat
    Addons:
    Combat Cloud
    Code's Combat Alerts (Dungeon dodge-roll alert)

    * RED (on the ground) - Dodgeroll out

    * WHITE SWIRL (Around feet) - Immunity to CC or effects

    * WHITE LINES (From body) - Block then counter attack with HA

    * RED LINES (From head) - Interrupt the counter attack with HA

    * YELLOW GLOW (Around body) - Block

    * RED GLOW (Around body) - Interrupt

    * CC (on you) - Break free
    .

    7. SEE & MEASURE THE DAMAGE

    Use a TARGET DUMMY to work out how your damage can be used in the best way. This is called working out a ROTATION where you combine all the skills and abilities to get the highest DPS possible. When you attack a target dummy it will print out your Damage Per Second when it dies to your chat window. Try to get your DPS as high as possible. You can earn a FREE TARGET DUMMY called the Pre-Cursor from doing the quests that starts off in Clockwork city. You can also use target dummies at guild homes or even buy them from guild stores or the crown store.

    Outgoing damage:
    To see what types of damage so switch your combat settings to ALWAYS SHOW.
    * DIRECT DAMAGE - White
    * DAMAGE OVER TIME - Orange
    * CRITICAL DAMAGE - Yellow
    * PROCCED DAMAGE normally requires something to happen to ACTIVATE (Proc) the damage to occur.

    Incoming damage:
    You can adjust the damage colour to be more visible IE a light pink works well

    The Shrendarr or Combat Metrics or Advanced UI are good addons to help with your DPS but they can cause lag in actual fights.

    .

    8. USE ADDONS via MINION - The ADD-ON manager
    https://minion.mmoui.com/?download

    * RACE *CLASS *WEAPONS * GUILDS * ALLIANCE via GilliamTheRogues LETS TALK SERIES

    He is currently employed in combat design by ESO

    The lets talk series may be slightly outdated but the knowledge will allow you to make better decisions about which skills to unlock and what to morph them into.

    .

    14. WORK OUT A ROTATION USING DEBUFFS & BUFFS from http://esoacademy.com/buffs-debuffs/

    .

    15. DEAD OFTEN? CHANGE YOUR CHEST and/or LEGS TO HEAVY INFUSED ARMOR with a HEALTH ENCHANT (or a PRISMATIC GLYPH)

    .

    16. JOIN THE FIGHTERS, MAGES & UNDAUNTED GUILDS STRAIGHT AWAY at Level 4

    .

    17. CERTIFY AS A CRAFTER IN ALL 7 PROFESSIONS SO YOU CAN GET EASY GOLD, SURVEY MAPS, TEMPERS AND BONUS ITEMS EVERY DAY

    .

    18. YOU'RE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT YOUR CHARACTER FOR MANY HOURS, SO AVOID THE URGE TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE AN ASS.

    .

    19. RESPEC SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES AT A SHRINE OF AKATOSH for GOLD (No need to buy it with CROWNS)
    Vampire & Werewolf bites should be available for free from your guildies. These can also be cured by a priest.

    .

    20. IT IS POSSIBLE TO PLAY WITHOUT ESO PLUS
    If you're really into the game get ESO plus, it's the price of a movie and a meal and you’re spending way more recreational time on it.

    HOWEVER

    IF finance is a problem or you just dont want ESO plus it is very possible to play without the ESO plus subscription.

    The game is NOT on a pay to win model BUT you have to learn tips and tricks to manage your inventory.
    See this link on how to do it:
    https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10211070053339460&set=gm.229100087672985&type=3&theater&ifg=1

    .

    21. DO THE 12 GUILD TASKS TO BECOME A GOLD MEMBER of Golden Clover Guild. Tasks on our discord server that help you understand and better interact with the game)

    .

    22. SET YOUR ARROW KEYS as follows:
    UP ARROW - Minimap step zoom in
    DOWN ARROW - Minimap step zoom out
    RIGHT ARROW - 3rd Person step zoom in
    LEFT ARROW – 3rd Person Step zoom out

    .

    23. UNBIND the following keys which are not essential for play and only cause problems if you pres them by accident in a stressed situation like a boss fight or PvP:
    * Toggle walk / run
    * Always run
    * Crown store
    * Crown crates
    * Championship Points

    .

    24. TRY THE NICHE COMPLEXITIES OF ESO such as

    * ROLEPLAY
    https://www.facebook.com/groups/131211320795196/permalink/230214950894832/

    * COZPLAY
    https://www.facebook.com/4dcosplay/

    * TAMRIEL LORE
    https://www.facebook.com/groups/131211320795196/permalink/234124550503872/

    .

    25. First CROWN STORE PURCHASE should be THE MERCHANT then ANY RACE ANY ALLIANCE.

    Non ESO plus users should buy in this order:
    ONE TAMRIEL, THE MERCHANT, GUILDS & GLORY, SUMMERSET (As it includes MORROWIND as well) and finally CLOCKWORK (for the ASYLUM weapons that drop on normal level)

    .

    26. JOIN a SOCIAL GUILD with LOW or NO Sales requirements. They often help new players with FREE CRAFTING, FREE GUILD BANK ITEMS. BITES, ADVICE, HELP and even a DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME. It's not considered treason to have 5 guilds.

    .

    27. It is better to buy the 6 MONTH ESO SUBSCRIPTION than the montly one. Its cheaper and you get to use 9000 crowns to buy something lasting and decent from the CROWN STORE like
    - The PERSONAL MERCHANT ASSISTANT
    - The PERSONAL BANKER ASSISTANT
    - ANY RACE ANY ALLIANCE via the ADVENTURE PACK

    A luxury (if you can afford it) is to buy 60 riding lessons and instantly level your riding speed to full so you can join the Alik'r Dolmen zerg, The Bangkorai Boss and/or Dolmen run, The Rivenspire Boss & dolmen farm and do PvP with easy as Cyrodiil is a massive map. It also helps with fast questing.

    .

    28. GET OVER THE FEAR of PvP
    Firstly you don't loose anything by dying in fact you gain XP and there are many nice skills & abilities to be had from PvP skill trees. There are 0ver 50 daily PvE missions in Cyrodiil that you can do from the 5 towns.

    .

    29. AVOID AT ALL COST becoming a TOXIC PLAYER (sarcastic/mocking/negative) These may be just characters on your screen but there are real people with real feelings controlling them. Think of the rejection a player feels before you just kick someone out of a group or a dungeon. If they are clearly out of their depth, try to carry them and whisper advice. They will be extremely grateful in most cases.

    We once went to help a newbie through City of Ash II, he had been stuck there for almost 5 hrs and scores of players came and left. Eventually we came in with 3 strong vets, completed the dungeon and gave him our helmets so that he ended up with 4 monster masks instead of 1.

    .

    30. Last and most important...ENJOY what you do! This is after all, a beautifully designed and complex game that you will never get bored of exactly because nothing is handed to you on a plate. So enjoy what you’re doing in the moment and try to be less end goal focused! And remember death is not the end!

    1. Eat food—it is much more useful in this game than in some others.
    2. Loot containers in delves and on the landscape where there is no penalty for stealing. When just starting out, these are a great source of free mats and recipes.
    3. Get at least 1 level of the passive that allows you to see crafting mats on the landscape for each craft. Gather mats whenever you can. Even if you’re not interested in crafting, you can always sell mats to earn gold.
    4. If you like crafting...or if you just like making gold...get certified as a crafter as early as you can and start doing daily crafting writs.
    5. Even if you’re not social, join a guild as early as you can. It makes travel *much* easier and you’ll probably earn more gold selling your spare goods in the guild store than if you sell to an NPC shopkeeper. You might even make some friends!
    6. Follow the main quest line in your alliance. The main story is a good one, and you earn valuable skill points by doing the main story quests.
    7. Don’t split your attribute points while leveling—pick magicka for casters and stamina for physical weapons (bows, swords, blades, etc) and put all your points into magicka or stamina for maximum damage. Tanks can be a little trickier; do a little research if you want to level as a tank.
    8. Have fun and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Welcome to the game—it’s lots of fun!
