Why would anybody play a sorc?

Really. Why play a stamsorc when you could play any other stam version of a class and that does it better? stamnb, better. stamden, better. stamplar, better. stamdk, better. Theyre better because they can actually use class abilities that hit hard. surprise/sub/jabs/dots. Literally every class that does close range dmg does it better than stamsorc.

Magsorc..why play that when you can play a magnb that has better sustain, hard hitting abilites that apply dots/cc and cheap ult that has the same range of magsorc. And honestly has better mobility. So why would anybody want to play a sorc right now?

Edit: when i wrote this I just wanted to vent my frustration. I was trying build after build and they call seem to miss the over "balance" sorc had, stats wise. I had 40k mag/22kHP/15kstam, 3.2k spell dmg, 2.1k mag recov..finally made a build that came pretty close to this "balance" its just missing a few K stam, which will be on my youtube very soon if anybody is interested. And for the record, I've main magsorc since day 1 and this patch was the 1st in 4 yrs that i had my faith shaken in the class; but sorc is completely fine TBH, it just forced everybody to change their builds that they had for years. #nerfsorc

That's why I swapped to stamden. When it comes to solo Yolo though, it's hard to beat a stam sorc. They have big aoe, beyond godlike self healing, and can wreck stuff. Pair it with 2h. Group content, everything else can do what stam sorc does but better.

Both incap and fear are melee ranged for magblade for example so unless a magblade wants to lose some burst they cannot fully utilize their range advantage.

Stam sorc has better mobility than the rest of the stam classes and have bonuses for physical damage and implosion.

Also sorc is fun. I like my stam sorc. Amongst other things the streak nerf should be reverted though.

Meta comes and goes, that's natural. By definition, not everything can be best in slot. Even in the most balanced games on the planet, there is one class better that all the others, and one that is worse.

2 years ago, around 1 Tam, stamsorc was the Bis for dps. During the glory days of Maelstrom daggers, when the weapon's ulti just came out, stam sorc could dish out just as much damage as stamdk (which was the previous bis), but with HUGE survivability through crit surge. What always made stam sorc great was never it's active skills, it's always been it's passive ones.

In those days, it was the NBs that were in the bottom spot. It's a cycle. If you don't like it, do like many other people and roll multiple toons. it also helps to break monotony.

My stamsorc is still going 20-6 in battlegrounds on the average, still killing more than dying in Cyrodiil, and still doing fantastic damage when I spec him for PvE.
I see tons of stamsorc's in battlegrounds, and most of the time they are on top of the scorecard.
Yeah, they are striping away alot of functionality and uniqueness from stamsorc, but all in all its still doing just fine for me and lots of others I've seen.

Magsorc, with a few changes to gear and adjustment to not quite having as much burst, plays pretty much the same as before for me.

Why play these classes? Because they're still a lot of fun to play and I can still be effective on them.

Maybe because people enjoy the class and play style. Stam sorc has some good class utilisation from a resource/buff perspective and yes could do with more class offensive skills but if you enjoy it play it.

I’ve played Magplar since day one through the highs of Dark brotherhood to the lows of Morrowind. Yes I could have got more DPS from another class but I enjoy it so I played it.

Why play a magsorc?
The can dishbout serious aoe dps. Match with a magblade and you are in biz. I love my non meta no pets magsorc who can't get into PvP because I'm on console and my connection to cyro is really bad.

Because I am a glutton for punishment... And because, given the space, the class is versatile enough to plug holes in weak performance groups, can carry low level players through content in pve by just trashing mobs before anyone gets there for close combat, and, O yeah, they shred with dots.

Because not everyone is obsessed with fractional percentages while hitting a dummy that doesn't fight back ...

Because they’re fun(more fun than the other stam classes imo), great mobility, good survival/self heals, I like the class overall theme of lightening/hurricane. As for Mag it's the same, they're fun, good self heals, only class that feels like a true caster/wizard/witch...etc. I just like the class overall theme.

Other than Sorcs, I do enjoy Mag Warden and Magdk(not stam). But Sorcs in general are my bread and butter class.

This is a question that I have been asking for three years. Usually, any time someone complains that their stamsorc cannot compete with a magsorc.

Because I mainly solo PvE and am playing more for the story and environment.

In that respect, ANY class; either Stamina or Magicka, can get the job done.
