New class (Merchant)

This class would be based around crafting, creating business, new skills based around speech and trickery.
Maybe more options to add vendors maybe to homes or player vendors separate from guild ones.
Just a new take on a class option.

    Remove the classyness from the idea though... ...and it suddenly looks a lot better!

    Merchant guild DLC might make a good deal of sense, it could have a passive line like TG or DB geared for haggling and trading... it might have a storyline involving the merchants allowing some gruffy adventurer with trader aspirations to join because they are in trouble that needs mercenary intervention; and it might have daily "escort" missions where you would have to accompany an traders cart going overland (no wayshrines of other fast travel!) on a journey through several maps...

    I like that idea! I will write something up and add it to my Guild Ideas!

    Builder... hmmm... there isn't any "mason" work for ESO characters, since the people at ZOS do that. And the rest of the building is covered by the craft skills, and the daily writs (why are there none of those for furniture? rewarding blueprints and such?) Not really sure if this could have enough "fluff meat" to make more of it...

    Class skill(s) damage scales with Gold currently on person. 0.01% increase per 10k up to 1m max
    Class skill(s) cost Gold to cast

    Example skills:

    Distraction - AOE, toss Z gold at targeted location dealing Y damage per second for X seconds. Enemies in area will be distracted (stunned) for X seconds. [Think Endless Hail but with gold instead of arrows]

    Repossession - Pay Z gold to summon a shadow banker for X seconds. The shadow banker will attack an enemy and repossess a piece of armor giving the enemy Minor Fracture and Minor Breach for remainder of summons. Shadow banker attacks deal Y damage. If target dies before timer runs out, shadow banker will move to a new target. Player gains a random white ornate piece of armor when timer ends.

    Liquidation - Pay Z gold to liquidate the enemies attributes. Applies Major Defile and Minor Lifesteal to target for X seconds.

    Coin Roll Toss - Throw a 1k coin roll at enemy dealing Y damage. (spam-able)

    Debt Collection - Cast while Repossession is active. The shadow banker will explode dealing Y damage to all nearby enemies. For each enemy hit gain Z gold per second remaining on timer.

    This sounds more suitable for a skill tree, not a class. For a class to be practical it needs to have rounded worth, worthy of a character slot.

    Bards College could be interesting, but the game will become meh if I ever see a trial won by 12 warriors wielding banjos.

    Personally, I think they should strip a class tree from all present classes to make balancing easier. Merge it with the base game.

    Siphon - Merge with Soul Magic
    Earthen Heart - Merge with Fighters Guild (Earthen Forge themed)
    Daedric Summoning - Merge with Mages Guild
    Dawns Wrath - Make it a skill tree awarded at completing main quest.
    Winters Embrace - Make it a Defensive Staff tree, ice staves, for mage tanks.

    I have been trying to figure out how to make a character and level them up without combat. A cowardly pacifist, if you would. Only horribly materialistic...

    It was very doable in other games I've played. I specifically remember in the earlier days of World of Warcraft there was a druid who leveled up completely just with harvesting and exploration.

    Perhaps an entire class surrounding such a concept would be boring for the majority of players, allowing for alternate ways to gain experience might be neat.

    I could see a "merchant" guild, if not at a class, that you unlock by doing gathering, physical delivery of goods and item creation. The current Writ system could be incorporated as part of the merchant guild (not removing any of the current perks but *adding* specific "merchant" guild experience). Or even a slew of passives like Ledgermain adds.

    The "perks" could be things like:
    • Another swift movement spell (like rapid movement only without the PVP requirement -- movement spells like this would not stack on each other, one or the other folks, not both)
    • Proximity harvesting - for surveys (this will allow you to harvest every node in a <insert here> radius)
    • Discounts/More money made - The other merchants respect you and treat you accordingly when you buy/sell from them.
    • Blends Into the Crowd/Wild - reduces aggro while gathering/harvesting
    • Merchant's Wagon - Ultimate - You can summon a Merchant's Wagon to hold additional good found while questing/dungeoning. The wagon lasts for <insert timeframe here> and any items placed within the Merchant's Wagon disappear and are lost if they are not withdrawn within that timeframe. It allows overburdened adventurers to temporarily expand bag space while out exploring. (This would be particularly useful for NON Plus Subscribers, while harvesting).

    I have more ideas, if anyone thinks this is worth exploring.
    It's not like I've been thinking about this for a while or anything. :blush:

    I want a M'aiq the Liar class! You could tell enemies that they are dead and they would believe it! It´s a problem with undead though.. :'(
