    Really? ANOTHER thread whinging? Ffs.

Used to love reading the forum but all it is now is people whining or envisioning doom & gloom and upcoming death of the game.

Things change. Games change. I remember the hoo-ha about changes with Morrowind - but people adapted. Learnt new ways of playing - makes things a bit more interesting than just doing them same fecking rotation over & over again hey?!

For what it’s worth, I think Mirkmire is a fabulous dlc - gorgeous and with good & interesting quest lines. And yes there is some annoyance about vet trials but that’s being patched,

On PS4 EU and seeing a lot of players in both pvp & pve.

But hey, guess i’m being a white knight or some such idiocy as I dare be positive.

lol complaining about complaining.. Great.. Maybe you dont care about the future of the game or the future of pvp but a lot of us do.. So if theres a thousands threads like this a day then great. Maybe eventually the devs will get it before they kill this game.

And personally i agree that murkmire was a good dlc. In fact i like every dlc. I find a lot of the content in this game stale or streamlined, compared to something like WOW, but usually i do enjoy some of the quests and i definitely enjoy exploring the new zones and doing whatever new stuff zos puts in the game.. And especially making new pvp builds with new sets..

But the problem is they make more problems with every dlc and usally dont fix all of them. And adapt? You cannot adapt to terrible performance. It only gets worse every update. People are sick of stupid blanket nerfs and terrible performance that has no light at the end of the tunnel.

This game has too many issues. Combine that with poor game performance that literally never gets better, and only gets worse, and of course people are going to leave or get pissed about it.

I wouldn’t play an mmo on a console. If I did play on Xbox or PS4 I’d have BEEN gone. On PC on some unconscious level due to modding, one soldiers on through a buggy mess of a game. On console one expects a better experience or plays better games.

The daily login rewards are exactly what the seem, a means to doctor the player base numbers. ZOS is in a pretty sticky situation. The combat team has ideas. Yet doesn’t play the game. Sad really. If Bethesda ever releases a new Elder Scrolls game half as good as Skyrim, ESO will definitely be in trouble.

Thats what i think holds most the players now anyway, the fact that its a TES game.

If it was any ordinary MMO, honestly i would have been gone in 2016 MAX

Unless ZoS offer mass migration when the proper next gen consoles hit, then that's when the game will die on console. The next PS is expected to be announced next year and no idea about the next Xbox. That won't be too far behind the next PS.

Thats quite intersting, I wonder how they would handle that.

Thats probably a great opportunity to allow for console players to switch to PC but I doubt they'd do it even in that case.

    Agreed.

ESO has laughably bad performance and it's been terrible for literal years now. What other game from 2014 can't stay above 30fps on high end 2018 consumer PC hardware while staring at a wall in town? Oh but it's all good, at least they have an endless stream of crown crate seasons to push out instead of fixing the game.

I would say just continue playing. MMOs like this have a tendency to "just keep going", even with a lower player base than previous years.

I was just looking around my PC the other day, and realized I still have LOTRO installed, possibly the oldest game of all time.

The servers are still up, and the forums even still have new posts. That game is possibly a bagijillion years old by now, and looks it too.

Guys there are 10 million ESO customers. Each instance holds maybe couple of hundred players or you would ride in sea of players. If you are not seeing many people in your location it means they are somewhere else.

It came out in 2007 so it's only 11 years old  . It's one of the few longer running mmo's though.

3 weeks of bugs collapsing entire instances and making PvE and PvP laggy mess and the first thing we hear from ZoS is a post saying that they recently deleted messages from the thread because of flaming and whatever other crap.

You fix the game and there is no flaming thread going on, only people making suggestions on a possible vampire / werewolf crossover skill line.

    FIX THE DAMN GAME.

The warning signs have been around for a while with all the free giveaways: daily rewards, Psijic Villa, Murkmire DLC.

I played my share of mmo's. As soon as they started a shop or gave away free stuff... they soon closed the doors. Except for SWTOR which is still around though.

Exactly, SWTOR is still kicking. Neverwinter has free content. Wait, they are still kicking. So that's the problem with the doom and gloom. There are several free content games that are still moving right along. ESO isn't going anywhere.

I was wondering if anybody else was experiencing major lag on PS4. In BGs last night I would run up to a fight then my character would stand still for a few seconds and then I would be on the death recap screen. To be honest, it's not usually that much different when I don't lag out but I feel like I at least have a fighting chance.

Not sure where you are playing in PS4 / NA, that you think the game is dying because of lack of players. Clockwork City is so crowded with the event going on that I just have enough time to launch an ultimate and get a few hits in before the world boss dies. I'm not doing the other Clockwork City daily quests because of all the competition from other players for quest materials. When I go to do an Undaunted daily, there are always others to PUG with. And when doing other dailies, I often see other players. Usually several folks are on Guild chat. Stuff I list in the Guild store is selling. And zone chat is active, always someone trying to sell something, or LFG.

Even if the game was down to 50% on concurrent active players you'd still see a lot of players during events as it tends to pull people to the one location so is great for giving the illusion of being busy. Steam Charts, Google Trends, less people on guild and anecdotal experience leads a lot of people to think the game is past its growth phase. Not that it really matters. As you say there is still plenty of people to finish most content.

Most of the players of this game are like herpes, they go away for a while but they'll come back.

I have been playing on the PS4 EU server for the last 3 months (pretty much a newbie) and I wouldn't say its a Ghost Town. The servers were sometimes annoyingly overcrowded during the WItch Mother's festival event, I saw the highest population so far in the game during that event and it was pretty crowded. Right now though, Clockwork City is overcrowded but rest of the regions are not so much. Guessing that this event didn't catch the attention of many players, and people are playing RDR2 (most on my friend list are).

Also yes, servers are often having different instances for same location. Just realized this a few days back when I wanted to group up with a friend and I had to teleport to him to see him even though we both were in Vivec CIty. While this actually helps when locations are overcrowded, it also makes places feel more deserted than they actually are when the player count is low.

Idk if I would say the game is a “ghost town” yet, But its on a steady decline for sure.

Been playing since 2016, And I remember back then you could barely walk through some cities because they were so crowded. The only time I see zones like that now is when there is an event in that area.

One of my long standing trading guilds disbanded a month or so ago. They were big when I started playing years ago, And the GM finally had enough and quit. He recommended a new place for people to go sell their stuff, And that was it.

Friends that I played with when the game started are gone playing other stuff now. When I talk to them and ask them if they are coming back to ESO, Their answers are pretty grim. They are tired of unnecessary nerfs to the characters they have invested so much time on, The bugs that have been around for years and the new ones that keep piling up, And just generally feeling like their support and long time loyalty is unappreciated. I am starting to feel the same way. I love this game so I am still hanging on by a few threads...But if things dont change soon I will be moving on to other games as well. Fallout 76 has been fun, Just trying to get more of my people over there. And RDR2 is AMAZING. TRULY AMAZING. It goes online soon too. I cant wait to see how that will be.

All ive gotta say is...ZOS better step it up and fix what they have and start communicating better with their community, Or this game will be dead. Its already on life support now.

I'm Xbox EU - Take a trip to Elden Root, Stormhaven, Mournehold, etc and you'll be very lucky to see 25 players in any zone.
If you do, 75% of the time the players you see will be Level 45 - 500CP 'Master Wizards' (standing outside Undaunted tents) and of those, 90% are Tyro.

Worth noting that I don't think population on console reaches the amount to instance locations either - So what you can see, is what you have.

This does not encapsulate 'alive and active' and for as far as what the game offers to those that have finished levelling, roleplaying or questing - They can safely be considered ghosts - After which, you're left with very little.

Fair enough the game isn't entirely empty of players, but the quality and dedication of those that are left is dwindling by the patch and is surely at it's lowest point ever.
