Hell no.
You'll want to gear as many characters as possible for Undaunted Celebration for the Mysterious Reward Boxes
LOL, gear traits are not that important. You lose only a fraction of a percent of damage with each trait that's not optimal. You'll be hard-pressed to notice the difference. And it's especially irrelevant for doing random normals for the Undaunted Celebration. Weapon traits have more impact, but still not going to make to break you in PvE. Optimizing trait is about as useful as golding out armor--i.e., "nice to have" but not "needed" by any stretch of the imagination.
Ever heard of Pay to Win? If not, you just described it.

Some players probably have a few characters they've never run dungeons on, and may be hesitant to include them in this event. But because it's a lot of free stuff including collectibles unique to the event, it's worth running the event on as many characters as possible per day.
For my "second string", I'll keep a Damage build, a Heal build, and a Tank build in one each of my housing coffers. So long as my skill points are allotted correctly on each character, I can just take the build I need and queue that role.
It's surprisingly stressful to run dungeon events on 14 or 15 characters per day even on Normal, so starting to prepare now - who queues what and needs to use which items - will make the event as a whole feel less... daunting.

It's not though. Pay to win is adding masters weapons and gear to crown store, or access to these things strictly thru a cash shop.
This is pay for convienence. Transmute stones are available in game, I didnt ask for that to be removed. I asked for crown store to supplement. All the current system does is slow me down instead of allowing me to properly trait "on demand" so I can play competitively in what I enjoy (pvp). Instead I have to wait 30 days, or open reward bags 1 day at a time for RNG.
I am playing multiple characters at a competitive level and constantly swapping gear that require retraits.

If you like PvP how are you not drowning in them? Every toon to 25k AP each month won't take you long. That's easy 5-600 a month adding the ROTW ones.
How much gear you changing, dang! And there's decent crafted sets that work well for PvP now too.

So? You don't need your gear to be in perfect traits to run dungeons for the event. You don't even need to use dropped gear--just craft Julianos/Hundings plus one other set. This notion that somehow transmute crystals are something that everyone needs is downright ridiculous.
