They have had it on their website that they would be giving it away as a reward for daily logins since the day they announced it, not ZOSs fault you don't pay attention.

This is is the exact reason why I didn't fall for their cash grab. I really wanted the mount and pet though, but not at 40$.

Requiring players to keep up to date with outside information in order to avoid being scammed is not good business practice. Not every player is hardcore into ESO and reads through every single newsletter, blog post, Tweet, etc.

This is a direct spitting in the face of those who bought Murkmire by itself and ESO Plus members. A big reason we pay monthly sub fees is to get access to DLC (expansions are already exempt from this).

What about selling the WW/Vamp cure in the Store? For 800 crowns, no less? It's 600ish gold ingame!!
if I could make another character, their name would be Cries-For-Character-Slots. AKA, I need more.

This is an MMO, not your typical offline install and forget game. This game changes, and therefore you are expected to read up on updates. If that's to hard maybe consider offline games again? =/

A good portion of the stuff in the announcements is fluff. Lore fluff and community fluff. "Meet the character" stuff, Crown Showcases, contests, Twitch stuff, etc. You cannot place the responsibility on the customer to sort through all that fluff to find the bit of information that saves them from being scammed. ZOS should have called Murkmire an "early access pass" or some sort if this is what they wanted to do. Their intentions should have been more clear to the customer.

A friend of mine even reads a lot of that additional stuff and she STILL saw nothing about a free Murkmire giveaway. She's out a good chunk of cash now.

First of all, daily rewards have only been around a few months, and you're already acting entitled lol. Get some humility. Secondly, they made it extremely obvious that it was a daily login reward via website, Facebook. Twitter, and word of mouth via the chat in game. You are CURRENTLY on the ESO forum so you obviously visit this site. Browse the website occasionally, you're playing an MMO not Pac Man. Stop acting clueless.

Firstly: I'm currently paying a monthly sub for this game so I think I'm well within my right to complain that something I'm paying quite a bit of money is being given away for free. Not to mention those who bought Murkmire outright.

Secondly: Was it "extremely obvious"? I've seen literally nobody talk about it in-game and I play A LOT. I also don't have Facebook or Twitter and requiring your customers to use those is absolutely absurd. Social Media participation should not be a requirement of any game - don't be absurd.

Is there anything else you want to add to your checklist of "really obscure and ridiculous steps one most take to avoid being scammed" or are you done defending horrible business practices? Because some of us would just like to buy something and know that money isn't literally being wasted into thin air.

Its a little much selling something then a few weeks later people can get it for free.
Nor sould you have to read a blog or something outside the game telling you so.
It 100% shouldn't be a daily login reward, It should have just came out free.

With your ESO + premium items coming out this month, you really shouldn’t be so entitled to whine and complain about people- especially non ESO + subscribers- getting stuff for free. Sorry, but I agree with others that you really should’ve read the newsletters.

I am really disappointed that those who either have ESO+ active or bought DLC earlier wont get nothing... not even a unique pet... Sure - there was an info earlier about Murkmire will be a free gift for login rewards. And that's it.

Up to this day there is no clear info about potential "compensation" or lack of "compensation" for those who got the DLC earlier. Just a dead silence. people asked numerous times - "will I get something extra or will I just waste money by buying this DLC ? "
No answer, just a dead silence. Basically they did not say "No" or "yes"... so no wonder people are pissed.

And to be honest - I feel like I am being punished for supporting the game. Also I feel extremely demotivated to buy other story DLCs in the future... as they might be giving other story DLCs for free.

The other thing I am worried about is Murkmire will be soon unplayable, lag-fest, over-populated new "starter" zone for all eso players... Guess what will happen the day people will receive this zone for free... all those people porting to Lilmoth Wayshrine... Server crash ?

I hope I am wrong but by giving new zone for free, well.. they kinda wrecked it now...

Btw. isn't it weird that they give a brand new DLC for free ? There is something odd about it. I would understand this if they will give some older DLC for free but a new one ? Something smells fishy abut it.

Jeez people. If you've bought newest DLC or sub you'll be able to roll it for an entire month before anyone else. Or motifs and recepies worth hundreds thousands of gold are nothing to you? Really?
It's like buying a ticket to the VIP-zone of a concert and later complain that people now able to watch that concert on YouTube for free. Chill.

Those who bought Murkmire or paying ESO plus will have a 1 month period to play before those who will have it as a daily reward. I too think it is too early (it would be much better if they would give it away at christmas imo), not because of fairness, but because they rob themself of money. Murkmire as a zone is fantastic totally deserving the money they ask for it (i mean in most games(also in ESO) it is the same price as skins).

I bought Mirkmire. While it would be nice if they'd waited until Christmas to release it free, they didn't. However I still get to play for a month before other people get it. And apparently I get a horse with interesting armor. Not sure if that is included in the dlc/login reward version or not.

While I sub, I buy the dlcs because if I ever drop my sub for any reason, I want to keep access to the dlc zones. Since I get crowns for the sub, it works out, imo.

It was put in quite a few places that the DLC would be a daily log in reward. Not ZOS's fault if anyone doesn't see it, not like it was hidden away in the fine print, it was everywhere.

As for the Plus members, I'm one and I love that the DLC is being given away free. You never know when life could throw you a curve ball and even the little per month for the sub could be more than you can spare. This way I know I can still access the Murkmire content, at least if there is some way for me to get online. It's why I also try to buy the other DLCs when they go on sale if I can afford to do so at the time.

Bottom line: The product is clearly marked IN THE CROWN STORE as also being a daily reward for November. There's no excuse, as a consumer, for not reading information on a product before purchasing. IT'S IN THE CROWN STORE DESCRIPTION OF THE PRODUCT, nevermind all the other ways in which ZOS got the word out.

That said, I think it was a strange move to launch the game and then offer it for free the next month. We all knew this would happen, since we all know there are players who don't bother to keep themselves informed.

I don't think people are angry that it is free. On on the contrary - it is good that we get free stuff.
It is all about total lack of information about potential "different reward" or lack of "different reward" as a daily login. There were countless threads and people asked numerous times about it and this questions were simply ignored. ZOS did not said "Yes" or "No". Those questions were basically unanswered.

If ZOS would say something like: "Keep in mind if you will buy this DLC earlier you will be missing out 1 "good" daily login reward in November" - then it would be no problem.

It was well publicized that it was going to be free, if you didn’t know that’s on you. Even if it wasn’t, giving things away free to those who didn’t buy it isn’t a bad thing. If you’re that uptight about it maybe you shouldn’t be spending your money on a video game anyway.

Every. Single. Announcement. Every single one about Murkmire has mentioned that it will be a daily reward in November. From the preview articles prior to the PTS to the launch article.

Okay, fine, you're one of those people who pay no attention to anything outside of the game. What about the giant announcement that gets shoved into your face every day when you log in?

And for those of you who ignore every single announcement, IT SAYS SO RIGHT THERE IN THE STORE:

You ignore the announcements. You ignore the login banner. You ignore the text in the store. Maybe... just maybe... the fault lies with the person doing the ignoring?

Yes, I call that an exploit of noob users.
One Khajiit in the dlc dungeon also cures you for free :)
Worse than selling the base racial motif books for crowns then you you can get them for 50 gold something,

Giving away Murkmire for free is a bit weird, had more sense with some older dlc.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
