Is the Vykosa Set interesting at all?

Just all these conditions! "when you BASH an enemy you've TAUNTED...you frighten them, applying minor main, etc, etc."

First too many conditions? Maim is too short? Will it work on an enemy that matters? (boss?--everything else dies in 3 seconds or less.)

Am I alone in thinking this is not a fun/usable set?

I think it's fine. When you know the boss is gonna use that very painful attack and they're taunted, just bash them real quick and they'll do less damage for that attack.

It's not made to be a permanent Major Maim uptime thing; it has a bit of strategic use with it instead of fire and forget.

Honestly, it's not fine. The set is a great idea but the duration is too short.

Frozen Device (from Warden) applies Major Maim for 4 seconds on teleported enemies.
Templar's Nova does Major Maim for the full duration.

3s of Major Maim on a 15s cooldown is weaksauce, that's barely enough time to apply the taunt and wait for one boss attack. If it was 5s I would consider it a good set, since that's enough uptime to apply the taunt, and then have 3-4 seconds of actual debuff time to cut a heavy attack, meteor attack, beams, etc.

An example of this would be the potshots that Z'Maja does in vCR. I could taunt, and then cut those shots, perhaps enough to just heal through. Tweaking the uptime by just a couple seconds really would open up the possibilities of using the set.

It's a pretty niche set. But I can see it being useful in certain situations.

For example, when the Warrior starts his Channeled Swipes, do a bash to take out some of that sting.

No, I wouldn't use Vykosa in the vast majority of situations. But I can see it being very useful in certain fights.

The issue with this set is twofold. One is a fairly long cooldown and two is bad control over the proc. By themselves those two issues would've been fine but together they create a very weak set overall, in my opinion.

You can't have a build where you rely on Vykosa to survive since you might not have it up before the next heavy attack comes (some of them have unreliable timings or timings that are shorter than 15 seconds) or you just wasted it because the boss did an interruptable attack 5-10 seconds ago (also a fairly common situation). Because of that you have to be able to deal with this heavy attack even without maim from Vykosa. And if you (and your whole group) can deal with it without maim... Why would you even wear Vykosa?
