Buying monster sets with keys - NO MORE RNG PLEASE!

More dungeons are being released which means a new range of monster sets will become available. But with the ever growing list of sets dropping in the Undaunted chests, it will get increasingly harder to get the set and weight that we need to complete our builds. Some people have probably run the pledges for years and have yet to get the set piece they need from the chests. My husband had over 180 keys saved up and spent 152 of them just to get one heavy Slimecraw shoulder piece. Meanwhile, he got probably 50 Swarm Mother's heavy shoulders. The RNG is far from balanced and with more sets coming out, we need a better more efficient way of getting our sets.

Why not have a vendor at the Undaunted enclaves that will sell you the exact set and weight you’ve been looking for at the cost of 50 keys? There would still be a need to run pledges each day and if you’d like, you can still take your chances with the RNG chests. One is random but the other is definite and will take less time overall. Because with 10 DLC dungeons, there is now a 1 in 30 chance to get the helmet you need from Urgarglag’s chest. Even so, it took me over 50 keys to get one heavy Thurvokun shoulder and that was a 1 in 24 chance. Please make the sets buyable with keys and since keys would then become currency, make them transferable between your different characters like alliance points and tel var.

In before beating a dead horse meme...

Been brought up countless times. Trait change was their fix. Also, your chances of pulling a helm from that chest are way worse than 1/30... haha

Just curious, with the undaunted passive that gives you 2% boost to your resources for each type of armor (light, medium and heavy), why are you trying to just get once piece of a specific type of armor?

For example my build I use a heavy or light armored head piece and same for shoulders.

Long story short, it increases the chance of getting the piece you need.

I'll buy both the heavy and light version of the head pieces from the gold vendor. So when I do pledges, I need either the heavy or light shoulders, increases the odds of getting what I need.

But I know everyone has their own preferred builds, and you may not PvP and get your helms from vet dungeons.

Edit: the RNG still sucks though, I agree with you there for sure. Took me forever to get either the light or heavy slimecraw shoulders. After about a week and a half I finally got the light shoulders.

Farming the chest for a specific weight isn't usually a good idea. Get the shoulder piece first (either medium or heavy if you're wearing light armor and want to run 5/1/1) and then farm for the helm in the specific weight. The armor values are the same on head/shoulder pieces so it makes no difference which is heavy. The exception here is that a lot of PvE stamina players run 7 medium, so a medium shoulder is "necessary".

In the end, getting your monster set in the right weight/trait is min-maxing, which isn't really supposed to be easy.

I understand the frustration but with Transmutation, it's far easier than it used to be ... and there has to be some kind of grind to keep people playing.

I’m a tank that runs Black Rose so the more heavy pieces the better. I know that the odds in the chest are worse than 1/30. I’m just saying that’s the probability. The RNG is much worse which is why it took me over twice as many keys as it should have. Transmutation helped a lot with set farming. If we still needed to get the right set, weight, and trait, our probability of getting what we need would be 1/240. But we all know that RNG is worse than that.... I’m just saying that buying the exact piece you need would make it so much easier and quicker, then allowing you to do other things in the game.

It's so funny how you keep saying RNG is worse than that. What about the guy that gets what he is after on the first key? Stats are stats, probabilities are probabilities. Now anyone that has a basic understanding of stats knows that a 1/30 chance to get what you want, does not guarantee you will get it after 30 tries, and in fact, there is a good chance that it will take much more than 30.

Anyone remember the rage post by Deltia complaining about how bad Monster RNG was (he claimed all he got was training and prosperous), then they literally came on the forums and posted his drop rates and those of the game at large? It's random, and good traits/desirable sets arent weighted for or against. 50 keys is nothing in this game.

You have transmutation now. You just need a shoulder in either heavy or medium, any trait. It might take like 50 keys.

The shoulder grind before transmutation was awful. You needed like 400+ keys for one divines piece.

I know, it was almost impossible... like I said, the transmutation made it so much easier. But there are countless people in my guild that still, after months of farming and running pledges on multiple characters have yet to even get a shoulder piece in the set they’re looking for. I’m just saying that by now, they could’ve bought it outright 10 times with all the keys they’ve spent. The chests seem to favor certain sets over others and you’re ten times more likely in my experience to get light shoulders than heavy. Those that are still farming agree that there should be an easier way so this is just a suggestion.

With no RNG there would be no point for people to keep running the dungeons and doing pledges.

Then newer players would struggle get groups. Then they stop playing. People start complaining about population etc. The RNG really is fine now that you can re-roll the trait.

RNG does seem balanced for the shoulders though RNG isn’t favorable when someone has a run of bad luck as OPs husband has had.

Heck, at least he didn’t have to worry about the trait. So much easier now.

Also heads are totally easy now. Remember when we had to be concerned about traits and there was only a chance the head would even drop. Lol. Those were the days.
