It's annoying, but we dont need any change to the mechanics of siege weapons. Please leave as is.

I agree that it is a problem and there are 2 easy solutions.

    a) Enable bashing allied players that use your siege. The interrupt would do 0 damage and it wouldn't set the player off balance, but it would remove him from the siege and it would add a short duration (like 0.5 seconds) during which the player can't use sieges.

    b) Allow us to pack our sieges away, even when other players are using them.

It's threads like these that make me ashamed to be a pvper. This is pettiness at it's finest.

    Agreed.

I seen someone last night in vivec blowing up chat yelling "get off my seige". I couldn't help but to laugh a little bit, but perhaps this individual isn't very good at attacking players and needs every bit of help to get AP? Either way, I thought it was pretty funny in a sad way.

Or you know, be useful and bring a siege or 2 of your own.
If your options are going AFK, or stealing someone elses siege, you really shouldn't have an opinion on the subject.

How about they just attack players if they didnt bring their own seige? Its just silly bashing someone being annoyed that they get their stuff stolen.

I agree. Recently, I set down four Pact ballistas on a keep take.

I had ALL FOUR taken over instantly by random leeches.

The people who think this is ok, I just don't understand. Are you guys faction hoppers that join opposite factions just to *** with them?

I don't think anyone really cares when someone hops on their siege to hit the wall we are sieging. It's when someone sits on our siege and either doesn't use it at all, hits the wrong wall, or aims it away from the keep all together. We only get 20 siege to put up per keep, these people take away from that number.

It's the automatic leap to someone "stealing" siege that makes me shake my head. If, as the OP states, it's usually some new player - they likely didn't even know someone could run three siege and thought it was sitting there idle. An annoyance but PVP has bigger gameplay issues that need focus.

I think being able to boot someone from a siege weapon that you own is a great idea. It gives people that don't mind sharing the option to let other players use siege, and it also give players that don't want to share their siege a way to reclaim it.

In terms of current etiquette, I suggest that it is okay to use anyone's siege as long as you just take one or two shots and then release it.

In my experience, it’s also only new players that get annoyed about someone else using their siege. Experienced players are just happy that everyone is siegeing, and not just screwing off like a bunch of pugs.

Been around since beta, still annoys me. More so when it's trolls intentionally turning it away from whatever objective, or players messing up my counter siege focus fire.

While I agree there are far more pressing issues, this has always annoyed me. Even as a Vet player.

My problem is with noobs firing at random infantry. Or traitor lowlifes turning them around, firing at nothing.

I have no issues with friends or known PVPers using my siege.

I definitely prefer that someone using siege aims it somewhere useful, but in general any siege I put down is disposable to me and is the property of King Emeric.

To get this straight, do you guys complain about somebody helping you taking down a wall with the siege you bought or do you only complain if they stow them away afterwards (if that even is possible)?

You cannot stow another players siege.

For me it is two fold, I have a specific reason for the type and placement of siege I put out. Somebody jumping on one can mess up my plans to take over the world. (This is obviously a situational annoyance and not really specific to just attacking a wall.)

The other part is, why did you not bring your own to help contribute to the effort?!

I really don't care if someone jumps on my siege (sounds dirty), as long as they use it. Only time it's really annoyed me is when a spy from another alliance jumps on it and points it in the wrong direction on purpose.

Siege, in the grand scheme of things is cheap, so lay down some more and fire away. Let the noobie have some fun.

I've been around long enough to consider myself a vet player. And this annoys me as well. While I don't necessarily mind if the siege being stolen is regular balista (it's still annoying), hopping on a coldfire siege is the worst. Especially when, at a point I would have packed up the siege, the random player keeps firing it and the siege is destroyed by counter-siege. That is a valuable piece of hardware that some cheapskate who couldn't be bothered to buy/find their own just let get destroyed.

And really, even when it comes to normal balista, I have better things to spend my AP on than feeding siege to people who don't want to buy their own.

I propose a counter suggestion to kicking players off of siege. Since kicking players from siege could be used to troll. Limit siege to only be used by the owner or another player who has siege in their inventory. If a player doesn't have siege, they cannot use other player's siege. However, a player can change their options to allow players without siege in their inventory to use their siege.

This prevents someone from completely trolling a faction. And since most players who have siege in their inventory will probably use their own siege at a battle, less people will steal siege. But it also provides the options for group leaders (or other players) to lay down siege for new players who can't afford it yet.

I think it's fine if you want to jump on someone else's seige to prevent it from despawning if they get caught up in a fight, but other than that when I come back and you see me jumping around trying to get your attention, get off it!

Setting up more seige isn't always an option due to terrain or seige limit and if you really want to be helpful and you're too cheap to buy seige then set up a seige shield or throw down some heals.

Years have passed, I can't believe we still are not able to kick siege weapon thieves from our own sieges... Why? If it's to hard to implement or causes some problems make it toggle in game settings "do you allow to use your sieges to other players or not" (by default allow). Maybe it's not game breaking but it's extremely frustrating when you put out that cold harbour ballista to shoot those nice 3 enemy's ballistas but suddenly some rank 4, 50 CP freshman steals it and starts to shoot to that single templar runing half mile away...

This sound like a good suggestion. I had a guy taking my ballista as well and start shooting at random things. I whispered him told him he can use it if he shoots at the correct objects, but you kind of don't have time to whisper and explain everyone either.
Sometimes I do double oil and have a good rotation between those two oils, and one guy using one oil that I put out doesn't help. It's just a waste of time. He could have ran around spamming healing springs or something it would be better.

There is a super-simple solution to the topic: Enable the owner to access his siege. If some other player is using it at the same time, he will be disengaged. End of story.

Since the game stores who owns which siege (because only the owner can pack it up) it should be relatively easy to programm that function. And it gives everybody the option he likes: let other players use your sieges or take it back if someone "captures" it against your wishes or uses it in a way you dislike.

When I first started PVP I had no idea what the siege weapons were or where they came from. I ran past a few and saw an option to use them so I did. No one ever said anything to me so looking back, thank you for your patience. It didn't take long though to figure out what was going on and now I just buy and use my own.

Few nights ago I put down a cold fire to help defend a keep. I stepped off to start repairing it (have hundreds of siege repair from midyear mayhem), as soon as I did someone jumped on it and wouldn't get off.

That's not helping me in any shape or form.

I see no reason why the game can't have a kick off my siege option. If someone wants to put down 10 siege and let everyone else use them, then fine.

Perhaps I'm lucky, but I can count on one hand the amount of times I've ever seen that happen. I still wouldn't care if anyone uses my seige weapons, rather someone try to contribute rather than hide in stealth 300yds away behind a tree waiting to jump on a flag.
