Force kick from siege weapon

Years have passed, I can't believe we still are not able to kick siege weapon thieves from our own sieges... Why? If it's to hard to implement or causes some problems make it toggle in game settings "do you allow to use your sieges to other players or not" (by default allow). Maybe it's not game breaking but it's extremely frustrating when you put out that cold harbour ballista to shoot those nice 3 enemy's ballistas but suddenly some rank 4, 50 CP freshman steals it and starts to shoot to that single templar runing half mile away...

I never understood why people get salty for someone else using their siege weapons. If I´m sieging a keep or outpost and has multiple sieges down, and someone else uses my siege to destroy the walls/doors then I don´t really care.

except if its a newbie that uses it to hit a door instead of a wall. Or turns a countersiege to hit a wall instead of enemies

Well, as long as that newbie is aiming towards the enemies/enemy structure I can´t really complain. I´ve seen some people turn the siege around and fire away from enemy keep/players just to troll (and that I can agree is annoying) but it doesn´t happen too often :/

Siege thieves have always been an annoyance of mine! The worst are the ones that hop on your siege and do absolutely nothing with it. Then you have those that are to cheap to buy their own so they hop on yours.. but at least these people use it for what it is meant to be used for.

For me I do not mind if people hop on my siege when it comes to taking down doors and walls but it really annoys me when people hop on my oils or scatter shots as this is essentially stealing AP from me :frowning: .

This is only a thing because they take 45 years to reload and people out down several to not just stand there while it’s on cooldown.

Decrease the time it takes to reload/shoot instead.

How about "no". There are many reasons why you temporarily leave your siege, especially in the loading time between shots, which take forever to finish on trebs. Such as healing yourself, healing your teammates, ressing someone, casting siege shield, avoiding gankers who try and take you out, avoid siege aoe etc etc. Literally dozens of reasons to not sit constantly at your siege like a sitting duck.

And I'll be damned if I'm just going to let some random scrub take over my coldfire ballista or whatever, just because I had to temporarily leave it cause of those reasons. Most pvp scrubs don't even know how siege works, aim them at the wrong targets etc.

When I actually bring useful siege into a battle, I want to be able to use that siege, not having it taken over by some opportunistic jackass who was too cheap or too ignorant to get one himself.

I'd also like, personally, an auto-kick from my own siege weapon when an enemy player attacks me because sometimes it's ridiculous, you have the "hint" to break free but you can't because you have first to "escape" your siege weapon.

I hope this is irony? because it happens all the time.. and it happens especially when you walk over to your other siege engines on cooldown and come back to one that is occupied by some newbie.. it happens especially if I AM using them which is annoying. If I die and someone uses it or I walk completely away its allright, and I dont mind.

I tend to try not to go out of my coldhabour ballistas for the same reason.. but sometimes I mean you have to go out a sec to fight somone of not standing in stupid..
I have never hate whispered anyone, and usually I am not easily mad.. but this makes me sooooo angy.. just annoying. I mean I dont really care about the cheap stuff, but especially the turning around or shooting the door or shooting players instead of other sieges annoys me really.
Only thing I am okay with is people using the oils, that is allright, not much you can do wrong with it, except turning them around..

Having your 10k Coldfire balista stolen by some scrub who then fires it at something random and doesnt repair it whilst in use.
Then watching as it crumbles and the noob runs off all happy with their little self that they got 5% closer to earning vigour for their PVE Build.. :(

There is no reason to steal others siege weapons, they are available from every owned resource, keep and gate.
And no I don't need help operating the 3 balistas I put down at the door thanks, bring your own damned siege if you want to participate.

Yes, but how much faster and more effective would the siege be if they brought their own instead of poaching one someone already dropped? That's the problem, players using other people's siege aren't bringing anything to the fight.

That's exactly why I lay down extra siege. The more siege, the faster the keep falls.

I agree with those more relaxed about the issue. Sure, in some scenarios can be detrimental if siege is stolen, a critical situation where not only the "thief" is aiming wrong but there is no place left to put other siege so what he's using is very precious, THOUGH most cases it's not that crucial, can place other siege and leave that to a player that is new and just want to help.

Above all I think it's way more important to not be an ass, in the end of the day that's a game and there are many battles, the fact I've been an ass can stay forever.

Hell I did that too :D When I was new to Cyrodiil one day ended up following a high ranked one, beastly player and a real pvp guy I still see him around sometimes, we arrived at keep and he started to siege, in my newcomer mind I thought:

"oh, nice! he's putting these for me to help! Must do my best!"
I stole from him 1 treb and two ballistas and trying to be very fast lol to do my best!

He didn't say a freaking word about stolen, just shortly whispered where to aim in a totally cool manner, no salty at all, well I'm still ashamed for that stolen siege though he's been great and not a ass.

If situation is crucial something can be written down to leave the siege or aiming right, but really no need to be rude.

An option to avoid this in the first place? Why not, maybe a simple setting option "absolute property of your siege" yes/no.
In that case no one can use it, there is an activator marker for us to interact with the siege and it would be disabled for anyone but the owner, in theory shouldn't be a problem, could be a solution for people that really get mad at stolen siege.

I agree it’s annoying , but only (at least for me) if it’s a cold fire . It’s bad enough you have to worry about losing them to a crash . I usually just spam them with trade invites, they get off of it and open trade . It gives me enough time to hop back on it .

    *facepalm*

When I put down 2-3 ballistas, I’m using all of them. You fire one, then the next one, then the next one, and repeat. It’s the most efficient way to siege, as you don’t have to wait there twiddling your thumbs while the cooldown expires — way more efficient than when some greenie hops on one of your siege and fails to fire it as soon as the cooldown expires. Also, I know when to start packing up my siege based on wall percentage; I can’t effing pack up my siege when the greenie is on it plinging away at a wall that’s at 3%. I usually end up having to leave that ballista behind to stick with my group, which is just a waste of AP.

In order to mitigate the effects of siege thieves, I often end up carrying more siege than I need to, which is just a waste of free inventory space. I shouldn’t have to do that. I understand why the option to use other people’s siege weapons exists; without it, spies/trolls could set up max siege and prevent anyone else from laying down siege weapons. People just need to be more considerate and buy their own siege.

I don't mind if someone competent takes my siege, like at least he knows what to do, but when someone takes it and just shoots in random directions or doing nothing. Yes, I do agree its not game breaking or something like that but just consider this:

We don't mind someone using our sieges, we just want to have control over how this siege is used or more precisely by who is used. If someone uses it smart, we are fine with that, but when someone wastes our siege we want to have control over this. Period.
