After the success of the last one, we figured it's time to do it again!

Date: 8/25 (Saturday for people in the US)
Time: 8:00PM EST
Location: TBD based on map


What's the format?
Just like last time, 6v6. If you don't have 6, please come anyway! Teams can always drop a player to make it a 5v5 or a 4v4.
If you do not have a group, please post in this thread and maybe you can find yourself on a team that's missing a player.

Who's hosting?
@ThePaleeOrcc, the GM of <Legions of Morder> will be hosting. He has teamed up with myself (GM of Scrubs Anonymous), Drexl (GM of Adrestria), Sh0wza (GM of Yellow Fever), and many more small scale, large scale, and dueling guild GMs to organize this event. It is a community event, run by a coalition of GMs and designed for small scalers, large scalers, and duelers.

Can I watch?
due to the large number of concurrent fights, to cut down on lag we'd prefer that spectators watch via stream. @FENGRUSH, who streamed the last one, will be on vacation but he will be hosting @ThePaleeOrcc who will be streaming it. I'm sure other streamers like Lord_Zele will stream as well.

How is the winner determined?
This is not meant to be a tournament with a clear and defined winner. Instead, this is meant to give each of the guilds competing a chance to have a completely balanced, fair, and uninteruptedfight... something that is far too uncommon in cyrodil these days. Publishing "Expose" vids generated from this event is one of the only ways to not get invited back next time. All videos that will be uploaded afterwards require the approval of the opposing team's GM before being made public. That being said, if they're good natured, almost all of us will say yes.

Is there a prize?
Yes. Many of the competing guilds have donated to a prize pool. We've also received donations from trade guilds and dueling guilds. It looks to be one of the largest total prize pools of any event we've seen yet. The methodology for distributing the prize pool is TBD - last time, we gave every guild that showed up an equal share, and we are leaning in that direction for this event as well. Big thanks to Pale Orc, Anslay, Kena, and many others for contributing big both with donations, organization, and publicity!!

The small scale community loves to fight, but there's no reason we can't be civil about it hehe. I'm looking forward to seeing you there!

    Rules:

    Team composition

    -Teams of 6
    - limited to one of each: resto ult, snb ult, tree ult, Magma Armor, Rite of Passage, undo
    - Only up to 1 heavy armor dedicated healer (you can have a light armor resto healer if you want as well) AND 1 stamden/magden per team
    - Cap of 3 per class and 2 per type stam/mag
    (E.g. stamsorc + stamsorc (2 stam) + magsorc = 3 class total)
    (E.g. Magden, Stamden, Stamplar, Stamplar, Magplar Healer, Magsorc)

    Starting a fight

    - Round Robin
    - Best of 3
    - Jump block to start fight
    - Groups have 1-2 minutes between matches to generate and drop ults, substitute members/skills but not gear.
    - Please use spectators, not your opponents, to build and dump ultimate.

    Bans
    - No cost increasing or entrapping poisons (magicka, stamina, ult)
    - No Guard, Time Stop or siege
    - No ressing
    - Sets limited one per team: Pirate Skele

    UPDATE on Matchups: We are going to make the event more streamlined by implementing a new bracket for people competing out of their weight class (IE people who are used to 1vX, 2vX, 12vX, etc). Based on experience and participation in the 6v6 space, teams will be in either the “tryhard” bracket or the “invitational” bracket. If there is enough interest from pick up groups, we may add a third bracket, the “open” bracket.

    Every group who has not competed in a previous tournament or who has not participated in at least two scrimmages will be matched up against each other for their first 4-5 fights. Many of the teams in the “invitational” bracket have done GvG events before, just not at the 6v6 scale. (We are counting 4v4 and 5v5 as 6v6 for the “tryhard” bracket, but experience with 3v3/smaller and 8v8/larger will lead to placement for invitational bracket). If there is time remaining afterwards, those teams can challenge the teams in the “tryhard” bracket, but teams in the “tryhard” bracket will not be eligible to challenge teams in the “invitational” bracket.

    We don’t want to waste anyone’s time by having a guild with 100+ 6v6 matches go up against a group of experienced PvPers who just haven’t competed at the 6v6 size before. TL;DR: We’re blocking all cross-bracket challenges until a team has completed all matches in its own bracket.

    As is tradition, there will be a massive siege / zerg fest at the very end. The zerging will commence when the last player on the losing team of the last round of the last match dies. Both myself and pale orc will reach out to each of the participating GMs/ leads to let them know which match will be the “last” one.

    mNB and magden both have significant offhealing capabilities that could be considered stronger than vigor stacking. Meta seems to be moving away from HOTs and towards burst. (we don't run defile or TK for instance). mDK brings CC.     I'll see if I can get a group together. A couple of guilds I'm in now I don't think I'd be in their six, but I might be able to get some people who participated in the first few gvgs (that irylia set up) together with me.

    Was the magblade running light armor? I have a hard time to figure out how a LA magblade would survive with only one dedicated healer against a dawny squad.

    We are discussing the matter of bringing only one dedicated healer to a 6v6 tournament. I just don't see any destro build working since magblades in LA are super squishy and cannot provide any burst heal / aoe heal like any stamina class.

    It's ok to have stam or heavy mag oriented tournaments. I believe that LA can also have a place with an additional healer.

    you'd be surprised. At the last scrim, SA ran 3 stam, animosity ran 1, adrestria 5, and LoM 4, so we had a pretty full spectrum represented.

    mNB and magden both have significant offhealing capabilities that could be considered stronger than vigor stacking. Meta seems to be moving away from HOTs and towards burst. (we don't run defile or TK for instance). mDK brings CC. Trend seems to be moving away from stacking too many stam DPS because when they drop DBs, they're vulnerable.. and no stacked vigor heal will save from a 5 player ult dump.

    The last tournament didn't have the 1 s/b magplar rule, and we had a few fights that lasted more than 15 minutes. The outcome of those seemed to be determined more by which team had a player that DC'd (poor aussies) or had food run out lol. Since implementing the rule, it hasn't been a problem.


    Personally I always feel like the TTK gets faster everytime a new DLC gets released. ZOS tends to release broken and overperforming sets to help sell their DLC on top of the increase of CPs that just make it worse.

    Balorgh is just one example. Classes with no burst heal like magblade, magsorc or magdk get focused down real quick and it's hard to keep them alive with only one dedicated healer imo.

    Even against Stam dominant teams our mag classes haven’t struggled to keep up or heal even with defile.

    First event: magblade mdk mplar stamsorc stamden stamplar

    Second: magdk magsorc magplar stamden stamsorc magblade

    Third (scrims): Magden magsorc mplar magdk stamsorc as 5v5 until our 6th came late as stamplar

    There are plenty of other teams with plans or already teams in place using a mix of both.

    Was the magblade running light armor? I have a hard time to figure out how a LA magblade would survive with only one dedicated healer against a dawny squad.

    No offense... but what do any of these questions have to do with the overall message of the thread?

    We are discussing the matter of bringing only one dedicated healer to a 6v6 tournament. I just don't see any destro build working since magblades in LA are super squishy and cannot provide any burst heal / aoe heal like any stamina class.

    It's ok to have stam or heavy mag oriented tournaments. I believe that LA can also have a place with an additional healer.

    The second healer makes the Stam groups unkillable though. Add a second healer and the only players that will be vulnerable will be the ones in light armor that can get burst down through heals.

    I won’t be there tonight but you should come watch the scrims. I think it’ll be small tonight with only 3 or 4 groups present but it might Be nice to just see how things are playing out currently.

    These fights are interesting and can help people learn some new group ideas. Theres lots of talent and people have been respectful. I'd highly encourage bringing a team of you can or just watching the upcoming event and seeing if you'd enjoy making a team for a future one.

    I've always thought that something like an Colosseum/arena in a pve zone where teams can decide to flag as a group/team specifically against another group/team that flags against them in a deliniated space (to avoid adds in a situation so actual set up teams can chose to fight other teams away from the lag of Cyrodill) and spectators could watch from a grandstand would be a nice addition to the game in a future. The Rp'ers could set themselves up as commentators and bookies and bets could be taken by the so inclined.

    Yes! Custom-lobby battlegrounds would also be acceptable, although the group duels that you’re describing would probably be the best form of all.

    Stacking offensive ultimates is just fine :)

    We do have restrictions on defensive ultimates though. Only one defensive ult type per team. 1 remembrance, 1 resto ult, 1 Warden trees, etc.

    Can combine them but you can’t have two remembrances or two resto ults on a team.

    UPDATE: We are going to make the event more streamlined by implementing a new bracket for people competing out of their weight class (IE people who are used to 1vX, 2vX, 12vX, etc). Based on experience and participation in the 6v6 space, teams will be in either the “tryhard” bracket or the “invitational” bracket. If there is enough interest from pick up groups, we may add a third bracket, the “open” bracket.

    Every group who has not competed in a previous tournament or who has not participated in at least two scrimmages will be matched up against each other for their first 4-5 fights. Many of the teams in the “invitational” bracket have done GvG events before, just not at the 6v6 scale. (We are counting 4v4 and 5v5 as 6v6 for the “tryhard” bracket, but experience with 3v3/smaller and 8v8/larger will lead to placement for invitational bracket). If there is time remaining afterwards, those teams can challenge the teams in the “tryhard” bracket, but teams in the “tryhard” bracket will not be eligible to challenge teams in the “invitational” bracket.

    We don’t want to waste anyone’s time by having a guild with 100+ 6v6 matches go up against a group of experienced PvPers who just haven’t competed at the 6v6 size before. TL;DR: We’re blocking all cross-bracket challenges until a team has completed all matches in its own bracket.

    As is tradition, there will be a massive siege / zerg fest at the very end. The zerging will commence when the last player on the losing team of the last round of the last match dies. Both myself and pale orc will reach out to each of the participating GMs/ leads to let them know which match will be the “last” one.
