I need to find it, but I've been told (and believe I read in patch notes somewhere) that only non dlc motifs plus IC motifs count for mater writ chances. So akaviri, alliance, racial, xivkyn, the "rare" style purple books.

Again I have to find it but I have noticed no difference in my drop rates personally after filling out all the motifs after those ones, but one person is not an adequate sample size.

You are correct in 1 person being a small sample size :)

What i am sure in is no crown store exclusive motifs count for legendary writ drop rate and the rare styles like Deadric, ancient elf etc.

Every other motif book completion will count towards it. Please refer to quote:
For Blacksmithing, Clothier, and Woodworking, this means motif knowledge and overall completion of trait research. This does not include Crown-exclusive motifs or motifs for the 9 base player races. It focuses on motifs that take some effort to learn – like Xivkyn, or Minotaur, or Celestial.

Over time, the contributing factors for this may expand as the associated tradeskill mechanics do.

Most dungeon sets should be bind on equip. That will fix the bloat.

The only things that should be bind on pickup should be things like Maelstrom Weapons, Master's weapons, monster helms, and high end trial rewards. Making everything else tradable would do wonder's for everyone's inventory.

It is really simple. Do not pick up what you do not really need. No bloat then. Most gear sets are junk anyhow but there are some who think they are cool or something.

I can't be the only person that feels this way, can I? >.>

There needs to be an heirloom/some kind of system in place, that will allow me to make a 'copy' of an armor piece/weapon I have already looted once (in that trait). The copy can even come in white quality that needs to be upgraded. (If deconstructed, it will reward no mats and is also not trade-able). Even if it's only for dungeon/trial/monster pieces...I'll take anything at this point. I am SO tired of bag management.
I am also tired of the motif bloat. Why do we need new motifs and 6+ new sets of armors every DLC?

I get it, I really do. They need incentive for people to keep playing.

I agree. I also certainly feel that new gear sets aren't the answer either. That's the same hamsterwheel of all kinds of other theme park mmo's.

I completely agree. A solution I came up with is to add the sets to the account-wide outfit system.
    • When you find a new item, you can research it, adding that particular combination of piece, armor type, set type and trait to the outfit system. (E.g. researching a Scathing Mage sash with infused trait would only allow you to create Scathing Mage light armor waist pieces with infused trait. All other traits will need to be researched individually.)
    • Researching the item will destroy it.
    • Upon re-creating such an item you can chose quality and enchantment, and the crafting cost will be the total conventional crafting cost.
    • Research can be initiated on any character, regardless of level and skill - to avoid having to relog for that.
    • This works only with max-level gear.
    • In the inventory non-researched items will be marked, so that you know when you can safely deconstruct items.

This change would still require players to do many dungeon runs to get the specific gear/trait combinations they desire, so it wouldn't harm that core gameplay loop, while providing players with a much more satisfying and convenient interface to handle their loot. In addition it might provide additional motivation for completionist players to complete their collection of set item/trait combinations.
