Stop the armor and motif bloat

I can't be the only person that feels this way, can I? >.>

There needs to be an heirloom/some kind of system in place, that will allow me to make a 'copy' of an armor piece/weapon I have already looted once (in that trait). The copy can even come in white quality that needs to be upgraded. (If deconstructed, it will reward no mats and is also not trade-able). Even if it's only for dungeon/trial/monster pieces...I'll take anything at this point. I am SO tired of bag management.
I am also tired of the motif bloat. Why do we need new motifs and 6+ new sets of armors every DLC?

I get it, I really do. They need incentive for people to keep playing.

I have no issue with the number of motifs - especially as the styles are becoming more creative and better drawn.

I’d like more variety in armour sets though. They’re all either very samey, or junk. There’s only so much you can do if you stick to the same pattern again and again. If they really want to shake things up, I’d suggest launching some 3 and 4 piece sets - maybe even a 6 piece set. Get more creative with the full set bonus, and maybe create sets that aren’t just about battle (e.g. a set that offers bonuses that would be good for fishing, or farming).
Problem with sets is that you have an baseline, julianos / hurdling anything below is junk. The area above is very narrow as you don't want an to high gap.
More utility however is nice, they finally broke the SPC dominance for healers, an fishing set would be awesome.
Downside is that you would forget to switch gear: healing vWGT in medium stealth armor was bad but I understood it early.

Doing last part of Skyrim main quest in crafting gear to so its an pattern here.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I disagree but what we do need less of is motif separation to make a buck.. that is just slimy..

Currently motifs are the money makers for dungeons <DLC wise anyway>. They give at least something to players running them even if the value of the actual armor drops isn't there. Same thing with overland DLC.

More of them please. We need motifs for classic dungeons + ICP/WGT the same as DLC dungeons. Granted some would be super cheap, but still free 500 gold for running CoA 1 HM is free 500 gold.

And for the next DLC expansion motifs will come by the paragraph instead of the page.

And for a chance you can acquire the paragraph in the crown store boxes!

Make all checks and money orders payable to ZO$. Thank you for your time!
"And it's important to state that our decision to go with subscriptions is not a referendum on online game revenue models. F2P, B2P, etc. are valid, proven business models - but subscription is the one that fits ESO the best, given our commitment to freedom of gameplay, quality and long-term content delivery. Plus, players will appreciate not having to worry about being "monetized" in the middle of playing the game, which is definitely a problem that is cropping up more and more in online gaming these days. The fact that the word "monetized" exists points to the heart of the issue for us: We don't want the player to worry about which parts of the game to pay for - with our system, they get it all."

More choice is always better. There aren't any designs I currently love, so I'm particularly interested in seeing more motifs. (More sleek, shiny and slightly-but-not-too-revealing designs for my glam mage, please!)

Seriously, with the outfit system, we will be seeing -more- motivs in the days to come, and not less!

Personally I would much prefer more variation on existing motivs... like the robe/jerkin thing for light chestpieces, have each old motiv come with multiple style choices her piece... you know, have those dark elf leathers come in standard, sleeveless "summer edition" or fur-lined "winter edition", that sort of thing... done as a reworking of all the "classic" racial motivs...

But alas, its new motivs they want us to grind for, so...

@Omnia, the Outfit System exists for that very reason ... so any of your characters can wear any known motif. There’s really no reason to keep motif duplicates unless you want other characters to be able to craft gear in that same style.

Too many motifs tbh the thought of Grinding for more motifs makes me want to quit the game.

No one is forcing anyone to grind motifs ... only players put that on themselves.

This is why we need loadouts! The implementation of sets like these would be a strong argument for loadouts, so I'm a fan. ;)

More motifs, please. I want some coats. Light and medium sets that come in simple cloth and leather, with collars and lapels. No more dresses for mages! Long coats for knights! Coats, coats, coats!

The armour bloat is more or less player by player induced. I'm guilty of it myself so it's not a dig. But out of the 200 or so armour pieces i have, I'll be lucky if i ever use a quarter of them. I actually bit the bullet a few months ago and deconned a lot of "just in case" pieces and I haven't missed them one bit. Can't even remember what most of them where tbh. I'm sure I could get away trashing most of the other stuff too. The option to bind motifs should be there and to stack glyphs. No other reason for it other than to appease the money men.

It might be interesting if trials, dungeons and pvp dropped non-combat utility sets that were bind on equip. Something to shift the reward value away from mostly motifs and maybe get a different demographic interested in the content.

    quality over quantity

what is this forum and why i don't like it:
    - complainers that cry without reason and without solution
    - trolls that give cheap or useless answers
    - people giving advice with counters that are not viable
    - bloggers that talk about their day or what they use in game
    - roleplayers that talk about fashion
    - people with solutions or bug reports are ignored
    - people that write walls of text without reason

There’s really no reason to keep motif duplicates unless you want other characters to be able to craft gear in that same style.

Incorrect. Legendary writs drop off Motif knowledge, and vouchers are used heavily in ESO.

No one is forcing anyone to grind motifs ... only players put that on themselves.

Incorrect again to some degree. ZOS have put the motif knowledge to alt characters to generate legendary writs to be completed to get vouchers and in turn vouchers are used to buy many things, especially items only sold as vouchers.

So motif knowledge on all characters is current and the trend is getting worse with this bloat.

I need to find it, but I've been told (and believe I read in patch notes somewhere) that only non dlc motifs plus IC motifs count for mater writ chances. So akaviri, alliance, racial, xivkyn, the "rare" style purple books.

Again I have to find it but I have noticed no difference in my drop rates personally after filling out all the motifs after those ones, but one person is not an adequate sample size.

    i'm sceptical about this.

i have a number of max lvl crafters.... one that knows all but a few pages of every style and has all research done, one that knows a few of the 'rare' styles and most of the research done, and the rest have only the base game styles and a bit of research done.

i get master writs on all of them.
