Extra effort? Do you know how much time it would take to get every single achievement in the game? It's at least 2-3.000 hours. And then I should do that on 5 characters, if I would like to play all the classes? Sure...
I know it well enough. Seeing how I have three "main" characters where I actually care about achievements...
But its not like there are not many, many other things in the game that take quite a bit of effort, yes? Maxing your riding, finding all the mages guild lorebooks, doing all the questlines, getting those higher PvP ranks, farming for the less common outfit styles...

In any of those cases, my point stands:
...if you really want it on an alt, spend the extra effort, just like you gotta spend the extra effort if you want to reach level 50, or some guild line, or your skills maxed, or your riding trained up, or whatever.
...and if you don't want to bother spending the effort, well, that that alt will have to do without this particular achievement/title.
Again, the achievemts at least don't really -do- anything on their own.
Yes, some have dye unlocks, but those are already account wide.
Others have titles, and those truly ought to be character-specific no matter what.
So, there really is no -reason- for anyone to "have to" do them all over again - unless they really really care about something, like a title or whatnot. And then... see above...

    And once again:
Also everyone should remember that ESO is crown store powered now.
    Meaning...
IF they would ever add some "convenience items" to help with any of this... it will come like the riding lessons, or research scrolls, or crownstore motivs. Does it still sound like a good idea to those "gimme crowd" people when they consider paying through the nose for it?
...compare to riding, or crafting research... the best we could plausibly hope for is "convenience items" in the crown store that help with something on the achievement front.
Does the idea still look that good when you consider the price tag? Everyone consider: how much have -you- spent on crown riding training? And would you spend on crown store stuff to gain practically meaningless achievements for your alts?

Why do you say this? What is the legitimate problem? How does it inconvenience you?

Too many people say these kinds of things but never have answers

And so in my opinion, the only thing missing is an "account overview" page, where people can see which achievement was achievend by which of their characters when, and so on

Good point, I would like that too.

Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.

I mean, yes while I suppose more options are good, I've never seen ANY reason to really have achievements be separate at all regardless of potential personal reasons.

    <snip>

Can anyone please explain this line of thinking to me so I can gain more understanding?

MMO = many players online (may run characters/planets/ships/teams)
    Often Account = Player
Any different ship/planet/team is "part of the account"

RPG = Individual characters "played" by player.
In this case any one player may animate/play many different characters
Each character progresses separately and they are not necessarily part of a team/alliance/group
Character 01 = player at one time
Character 02 = player at a different time

We already have account wide skins, mementos etc, why not achievement points and titles? But I think few achievements should be updated then (like increasing ap points needed for Grand Overlord). Also lorebooks and skyshards needs to stary separate like story progression. Well, overall yes for me

What about ppl who are forced into different roles/chars for specific achievements, like Gryphon Heart.

It is literally not possible to complete it on my main, a Stamplar with about 32k Achievementpoints atm, so i had to switch to my DK Tank in vCR.

I would like to see at least some achievements to be accountwide, like trial stuff, or pvp (maybe different for each alliance).
Quest based stuff and so on should still be char bound.

At least i got the Immortal Redeemer on my main xD

The only way I have managed to mentally get around the idea that all my alts are nothing but cannon-fodder for the meta, or replacements for when nobody else has a spare tank, heal or a certain type of dd, is to ignore achievement points altogether.

Character-bound achievement points destroys variety, because if you care about them, you are forced to play one class, and usually one role, in all content. And that's just group combat...

From an RP perspective, character-bound achievements makes no sense. Maybe you have one character who is a thief and another who is a law-abiding mercenary; maybe you want to play a new chapter storyline on a fresh character, and then don't want to rush-click-through it again on your main just to get the achievement points (which give you nothing by the way, except possibly bragging rights and a sense of completion).

For me, it's either make them account wide, or don't care about them. Anything else is too restrictive and sucks the fun out of hunting them.

What I never understood is that if Achievments are for RP, why are you even looking at achievments anyways since I feel like focusing on those would be immersion breaking and that achievments are mostly for the people who WOULD want them to be account-wide anyways

for some stuff it makes sense, and if you think about it, dyes are already an example of it. Collection, monster killing, chest opening and that sort of stuff is fine, but crafting (except for gathering and refining), dungeon achievements, vMA, Trials and all that jazz should be per-character.

Yeah, account-wide achievements would be cool.
It's not really worth to do achievements if you have multiple alts (or even multiple mains, i have actually 2 mains) and it's annoying.
In WoW i like to do achievements because they are account-wide and the progression won't be lost if i switch a main character. In ESO i have to do the same achievements on my other characters and it's really boring and time-consuming. So i decided not to do achievements.

I don't pay any attention to achievements. It's like gold stars in kindergarten. I don't need them, don't care about them, don't want them.

I have 12 girls now, and making 3 more. I'm not messing about with achievements period.

I've always thought linked characters could be a great idea ... So you link a character when you create it and they now share everything skill points, skyshards, lorebooks all achievements ... Overland content is made harder and you play through the content again ... Like a one Tamriel plus 1

Or you can elect not to link and play as it is now
