Housing........ are you joking???

Tbh the prices of some of the houses is insane, nothing in the game should cost nearly the price of 2 AAA games.

the currently-available most expensive house in the the game is Colossal Aldmeri Groto which is 15,000/£82.98 (unfurnished) or 18,750/£97.98 (furnished) and not available to be purchased with in-game gold, these are INSANE prices, what was ZOS thinking?

What hurts me is that people have been asking for a ship home since housing launched and I just knew when they announced it that they would price it out of a lot of people's reach. Now when ever I see someone post good ideas for housing (or anything else really), I cringe because I know that ZoS will take the idea and turn it into a cash cow. How about releasing smaller versions for less crowns or purchasable with gold? How about not making the most sought after houses limited time to give people chance to save at least some monthly crowns toward them, or if they MUST be limited time at least have them available for a month/six weeks so everyone will have been paid? They won't do anything of the sort, of course because people will buy these things no matter how stupidly they are priced.

I am one of the people who really wanted a ship. I only own a small house to store all my furniture in-game, it is a complete mess of things stacked on other things. I have been waiting for that one house that makes me go "Wow, this is amazing!" and they have delivered. I think the Ship is amazing and I really want it. Seriously kudos to the art team on this one

    But,

Just because I want it does not mean I am going to get it. I am an adult and more responsible with my money than to spend that much on an in-game house, in a game, and game with very limited life if it keeps going the way it is.

Stop being so greedy zos. Do you want 1000 purchases at $100? or 10,000 purchases at $40?

I have this problem with the Pricey Princley Dawnlight Palace. Expensive house with a lot of space but the amount of furnishing you can have puts a huge strain in creativity. For me at least.

This. I wanted a ship home as well - but just the ship. The design of the ship is gorgeous, but imo all that extra "stuff" was just to boost the cost. The entrance to this home is a rope ladder off the docks - that ship could have been created in any of the port towns with boats at the dock - just add rope ladder. Then charge the regular medium/large home rate for it - crowns and gold.

It's not a matter of cost, I have the crowns saved from my sub, it's a matter of preference. Sure, have a colossal home for those who like that type of thing and are wiling to spend money on it (no judgement from me) - but toss those of us who like small/medium homes a bone once it a while too.

I agree that the amount of furnishing needs to be at least doubled for those massive houses. The Aldmeri Grotto is like at least 5 times as big as the generic Mannors and still it has the same housing slots.

If nothing else some of the newer homes should be put in a new category "Extremely Massive Homes" with a higher slots limit because some of the new homes are a lot more massive than others

Thankyou to everyone that has commented!

There is one thing that really hit me between the eyes when reading through the replies.....

EVERYONE is of pretty much the same mind, too expensive and too big to decorate well with limited spaces. :'(

@zos LOOK your notoriously argumentative forumites are agreeing with each other maybe it's time to do something??

I would also like to say that I completely agree with those that have expressed enjoyment is available by decorating some of the smaller/medium sized homes. My absolute favourite so far has been Gardner House in Wayrest!

I have several homes. The island is my largest. I love Hundings Palatial Hall, the strange Coldharbour one, and the Creek home in Rawl'kha the best. I've been able to furnish them to acceptable levels, but all of them except Hundings, Creek and Coldharbour are really just dead spaces that I use for free teleport sites. For me the worst part of housing is that you can't enter with your pet, can't ride your mount in the larger homes, and can't have NPCs or animals wandering around to give the place some life. Also, the number of players allowed is so limited. And you really can't build since blocks, planks and such lack variety. Overall, housing has been a disappointment.

I also wanted a ship home, but the ship grotto is pointless in several respects so I won't buy it.

      THIS.

I was also really bent out of shape that Summerset only had two houses purchasable with gold and then the grotto for crowns. The Morrowind Chapter gave us at least 3 houses purchasable with gold (2 with a ton of space) and then Tel Galen for crowns which was significantly less expensive than the grotto. Everyone knows at this point that the unreleased house in Artaeum will also be crown store exclusive and cost a fortune; the shift to home exclusivity is becoming painfully apparent. I've been a casual player and huge fan for this game since beta and even i've gradually come to see that this whole housing cost situation is both unreasonable and has really toxified the player base. They would just make so much more money on lowering the cost of these homes, as someone earlier said $40-$50 max...so many more people would buy them.

Identifying as a housing addict is at least part of the way back. I pay a subscription, I use the crowns and the money from trading/crafting to buy homes. I buy three for each character and ofc know I can staycation in my alts. I think that's far more than anyone deserves in any life, imaginary or real. I do not pay any more than that with real money, and neither should you. Learn life's lessons, how to work save, wait and find shortcuts that are at least reasonably ethical for the benefit of your fellow man. The guy pricing the Jolly Roger is doing that to you, but you can say no.

How can we host any good events with a 24 (I think it is) visitor cap on even the largest homes?!

Firstly I am a housing addict, I find decorating to be immensely relaxing BUT seriously 15k Crowns for an unfurnished boat???

      That's around £80...………

£80 for a home that most likely you will never be able to decorate properly because even with ESO+ there will not be enough slots to allow more detailed decoration!!

@zos please, please increase the maximum available furnishing slots!!

I have been here since Jan 2014, subbed the whole time since release and atm I am starting to become very disillusioned with your direction across the board. :(

The houses manors in game which you can buy for gold are also around 12kish Crowns if you wanted to buy with crowns, way to much, no in game extra content should cost more than the original game itself imo, also no digital extra content should be worth 2+ AAA full games.

ESO the game 10 dollars on sale, week later 110 dollars for a house in the game. smh and people will buy it.

this is why I don't buy crown homes. spent $9 on my second account (main was prelaunch so obviously more expensive) and paying for a home that'd 10x more expensive than the game itself, I just can't do it. BUT go figure why I'm fine paying for more pets and mounts than I have characters. SMH

If you really want the housing instance, you'll be resourceful and find a way to get it.
If not, I guess you'll just create yet another sour grapes thread on the Internet.

And they'll raise the furnishing limits if they can. They have an entire substore dedicated to furnishings. If it weren't more a technical/minimum system requirements issue, they'd already be tapping into those relatively easy impulse crown purchases by allowing more of them per instance.

I'm not going to say buy it in case they increase limits, because I can't say they ever will. But for now the key to liking these larger instance is in building smaller contained builds in strategic spots and using negative space effectively.

I spent a good 30 minutes running around this place. It is the closest that I have come to buying a big house since I bought the ebonheart chateau back when housing dropped. Then I realized, I dont have enough space to decorate the chateu, how am I going to decorate half a zone?

Neat instance, sure it's good for RP groups, but no chance I am buying something this size until furnishing space is increased significantly (talking a factor of 4 to 5 times at least).
