Firstly I am a housing addict, I find decorating to be immensely relaxing BUT seriously 15k Crowns for an unfurnished boat???

That's around £80...………

£80 for a home that most likely you will never be able to decorate properly because even with ESO+ there will not be enough slots to allow more detailed decoration!!

@zos please, please increase the maximum available furnishing slots!!

I have been here since Jan 2014, subbed the whole time since release and atm I am starting to become very disillusioned with your direction across the board. :(

    14k crowns is also £74.99...…….

The extra 1000 would cost between £5.99 and £10.99 so my original £80 price tag is relatively accurate....

Tbh although that is very expensive, it is even more disappointing when you realise that you will never, ever be able to make it the way you want due to lack of slots!

I have Topal Island, it is a glorified garage, I would love to decorate it but my 700 ESO+ slot could never even come close to doing it justice. :(

It's too big to be furnishable so it doesn't appeal to me, same problem as the Observatory. This is why I long for more small- and medium-sized homes, especially at the more exotic locales. Their medium-sized homes have been hands-down their best, so far. With the Vvardenfell and Summerset homes being at the top of their game, absolutely breathtaking. It makes me sad because the palace that Hew's Bane got was really, really poorly made, yet I want a Hew's Bane home so desperately, too.

It's funny, my favourite houses aren't in my favourite locales. I think the only big house that even approaches being decent compared to the vastly superior medium-sized houses is the Craglorn cave. When you step into the Alinor manor, though, or the Lake House? It just blows all of the more expensive homes away in terms of character, identity, and detail.

And being a person of good breeding, I value character and identity over size. If it has no identity of its own, if it doesn't speak to me and inspire me, then I'm not going to buy it.

At least your seeing it now. I noticed it earlier this year when I started playing again and seems to get worse as time goes by. Seems to be a problem thats been around for some time judging by posts I encountered.

While I understand where you are coming from @freespirit the amount of money is what most people would spend on a night out. The other point never mentioned regarding housing is you are essentially paying for server space, with each home being it's own existence where the owner can manipulate the surroundings. Maybe they could one day rent out houses?

As for slots, while it can be a challenge it's one I've come to embrace. I can't wait to start on the grotto but I'm still busy with the townhouse. The grotto is a builders paradise but I understand why the decorators might not be so keen. I already know how I'm going to build the grotto after some PTS testing and I'm confident I'll bring it in under 700 slots.

Housing in ESO is expensive both in terms of real world money and in game currency but I for one really enjoy it and it has become my end game.

Cheers for the chuckle @AuldWolf "being a person of good breeding" :D

Likewise i see my ESO+ crowns as free as I sub for other reasons regardless.

When they had reasonable crown sales ie 40-50% off, the prices were on the edge of acceptable (still expensive, but ok!) but now with full price crowns they are just crazy, that alongside the sad number of the item slots means I am just no longer buying houses - I loved housing at launch, but the silly pricing and limitation of slots has made it less and less fun.

I agreed wholeheartedly that we need diversity in house sizes more small and medium houses at sensible prices!

I don't know. At any price, with the absurd and often-mocked furniture cap, it's hard to see what you'd do with this place.

I was originally excited about it. Previewed it tonight, ported in, and thought, "Oh yeah, I forgot (since I don't use the houses I already have)… there's no way to furnish this place, and it's so big slowly moving around it unmounted is just too annoying."

    Bleh.

I did test the waters for slaughterfish and you can mostly go out to the furthest shipwreck in your instanced, useless palace of solipsism. Stupid invisible walls.

My houses do act as a good storage place for furniture I find, like burnt twigs and poisoned blood, that I otherwise don't see til I dump new stuff there.

    Don't buy them then.

I have plenty of houses as you see in my sig, and I actually wanted the Aldmeri grotto as well, it would be the perfect spot for my coral garden.

But several things have turned me off. First the price is absurdly high, second it is apparent that with the current housing slot limit, I wouldn't be able to do half of what I wanted with this house. Thirdly, houses don't have any functionality that justifies these absurdly high costs. My Ebonheart Castle has my storage containers, and that's the only use the houses have at the moment.

So, with the absurd high price and the extremely low furniture slot limit, I'll be dropping any Summerset houses. This is also in large part due to the Culanda requirement of all Alinor furnishing plans, which will be a nightmare to decorate.
This means that ZOS is losing money from me not buying any of the Summerset houses, not buying any of the Crown Store furnishing items to put in those houses, and me saving a fortune in gold from not having to invest in luxury items and crafted items to put in said houses.

I know it's tempting to buy these houses, but as long as we do, nothing will change. We have to put our feet down and say no to these absurdly high prices and very constraining housing slot limits, and this is what I am doing now.

I agree with you @freespirit - they really need to bump up the item limit. Just use 700 as a "soft cap" that triggers a warning message when you try and go past it: "Warning: Continuing to furnish beyond this amount could cause performance issues. Are you sure you wish to continue?" Now it's the player's issue if performance starts to degrade.

Kind of like how your phone asks if you really want to push the volume up further than around 70% when you have earphones plugged in. It doesn't prevent you doing so, just let's you know that if anything goes badly it's your fault

Really disappointed we got a grotto instead of a nice home in arteum or summerset. I would have bought a big beautiful home that was bright and colorful with trees, flowers, waterfalls and lots of space instead of a wrecked ship.

It's the furnishing cap for me as well. I won't buy a crown home, but the gold homes I have bought have run into this. Maybe it's coming from Sims, where "clutter" is encouraged and really brings meaning to the game, but not being able to place 9000x things of bottles and fruit and food on my bar... Hell, having a home that 4 siblings share and not being able to place their 8 mounts and 8 pets.. it makes me sad. This is their home. This is the least of things they'd want. Their faithful pet beside them and their trusty steed in the stable. And I cannot do it.

You can actually buy crowns for a bit cheaper. Go to GAME, ask to buy the 5500 crowns, they cost £23.99 each so itd cost about £72 and youd get 16500 crowns.

I agree it is a ridiculous amount of money.

But i very much agree with increasing the max furnishing cap for non eso+ and eso+ members

Yep the houses need to be priced differently 1st of all, £80.00 is just a complete overshot on pricing! That's ridiculous, beyond bizarre for what you are getting.

2nd is that yes you wont be able to fill it up correctly as you run out of slots.

Dev's reading, when an update for housing comes about can we try and match what the player base wants/needs.
