I tend to have to log and back in to get the next survey to reset the area. The distance you have to move away from the area seems to be inconsistent and generally a good bit away.
It would be nice if "use" of another survey actually reset the nodes rather than having to relog or run away and wait and run back.

A challenge insinuates there's an element of risk and reward attached to it. There's nothing of the sort. Just a brain dead trek that a lot of people have zero desire to do. Collecting TV stones and buying alchemy bags can be challenging, running past some spriggans isn't.
The level of laziness that even experienced players try to achieve is astonishing.
Are you one of those players that won’t use a guild hall that’s not close to a wayshrine?
If you don’t want to do surveys then simply destroy them.
Err... I do that. And I enjoy it!
Having an excuse to go somewhere random in the game world has led me to unlocking new wayshrines, discovering new quests, and generally appreciating the scenery... but then I've always been one of those MMO players for whom it's more about the journey than the destination
Exactly the reason I would love to be able to sell surveys - there are many players who don't mind them.
