Action Taken for Veteran Asylum Sanctorium Exploit

Recently, a number of players have been found exploiting Veteran Asylum Sanctorium Hard Mode by exiting the playable area to defeat the boss, earning the Sanctified Silver Skin fraudulently for themselves and other players. This reward is typically earned for completing some of the most challenging content in ESO, and devalues the work of other players who have put in the time and effort to earn it legitimately.
Taking part in this exploit is a violation of the ZeniMax Terms of Service, and as a result, we have just suspended 1,046 accounts and issued a permanent ban to 117 accounts who were found to have undoubtedly taken advantage of the exploit. Suspensions will be held while we conduct a more in-depth investigation of the accounts, which will be completed by time Summerset launches on console with a fix for the exploit on June 5. Additionally, the unfairly-earned Skin will be removed from the account.
It's worth noting that we will perform an additional audit between now and June 5 for any additional accounts to use this exploit, and we will action those accounts as necessary.

Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.14 -

Someone that was 'perma banned' in the first round of vAS exploits are back in the game today so while I want to believe ZOS is doing the right things, why bother if they're just going to come back. These new people will sit out a few minutes and then probably come right back too. I called out said person in guild chat and was immediately kicked from the guild by their friend. Go ZOS.11 -

Is it possible to tell us in broad strokes what the difference between the behaviour of those receiving permanent bans and the suspensions is? I imagine all 1046 of the suspended players have the skin, so they have undoubtedly taken advantage of the exploit.

They still lose everything however and need to start it all again, depending on your investment in a game that's a damn lot of time to get back what you lost.

My guess is that the permanent bans are for people who were selling the skin/advertising runs and the other bans are for people who "only" partook in it, but I'd like to know this as well.8 -
AlboMalefica✭✭✭✭Whilst I support the actions taking against players, I feel it’s been left too late and far too many people have exploited it (especially Xbox eu) and if a lot of the suspended accounts become perma bans than it’s going to have a huge detrimental affect on the whole server, especially all of us who have been good.
Sad times tbh, I really hope there’s a plan to merge the servers if our player base drops too low. Summerset was meant to be a huge excitement and now I’m just hoping the population doesn’t die now0 -
