To the people calling the devs lazy... I don’t think you guys realize the ZOS dev is quite small, as far as the trials dev team goes it’s maybe 4-5 people.

If the dev team cant manage it... Hire more so they can do their job properly for a game of this scale? I dont understand, lack of man power doesn't excuse sloppy work.

If these are some of the people I'm thinking of. . . then some of them paid upwards of $150 USD for that vAS clear.

Folks willing to cheat their way through a videogame, or the amount of people looking for an easy ride - makes me lose faith in the human race. Think about if these are people you might work with in real life, of worse - work FOR.

people with such low moral values theyre willing to cheat the system, or step on others to get to the top. Good riddance.

Wait time out you never seen American Greed? People cheat everyday in life to get ahead, especially in business. Businesses is cut throat by nature. Besides this is a VIDEO GAME, if people purchased the game then invested time into it and then decide to cheat that’s on them.

And if cheating in a video game makes you “loose faith in the human race” you really need to re-evaluate life

wait. . . what exactly are you saying? that this is normal behavior and I should accept that people will lie cheat and steal their way to the top?

and you're telling me i have to re-evaluate my life?

Bruh I never said what you had to accept but 90% of you people in here on a false moral high horse. All I was trying to illustrate was that this IS A VIDEO GAME. I swear when I read stuff like this it always reminds me “He who is without sin, cast the first stone”.

It’s like a lot of your people forget about the rl skeletons in your own closets. So 90% of you moral cops can miss me with all your fake “outrage” over a digital world being cheated.

The immaturity of some of the exploit defenders is kind of sad. Echoing what the people they respect say, maybe they should re-examine who they look up to.

Anybody who can think for themselves knew it was an exploit.

The ones long ago or are there some currently happening.

Whilst I am not happy people abused and got away with it it's only been in the last year and a half that ZOS really stepped up and worked to fight exploiting in this way.
If it is happening now there is a better chance of it being stopped.

Waiting to see all the exploiters flood to the forums to complain that they were wrongfully banned/suspended or blame ZOS for allowing the exploit to exist in the first place.

There is this saying that the "forums are 1% of the ESO population." A year ago or so, there was this dev post that confirmed it's actually somewhere around 0.01%. So if 1000 people exploited, chances that they are on the forums are pretty slim.
I'm not a dev but I made a dumb forum thread about it a while back (warning, terrible math)

Just because someone doesn't normally post on the forums doesn't mean they wouldn't make an exception to complain about being banned. I don't expect a thousand of them to come but a handful maybe.

Players didnt take advantage of an exploit, they took advantage of the devs laziness which is easy to document. These glitches are reported clearly or this conversation wouldnt be happening. Ive personally reported several of the imp city ones ages ago but they haven't fixed any yet.

By this logic, I should be able to steal anything at all that is not locked up tight, because if they didn't want me to steal, they wouldn't have left it out where I could get at it. No, that's not how it works. If you knowingly cheat, you deserve punishment. End of story.

So take a step back, only 1% of the population does endgame trials, and considering you have to buy an instance to snipe the last boss. Yes I would assume my prior comment valid. I myself have sold said instances for gold to groups of under equipped players which is not against the ToS. What they do with said instance is none of my business. But I will say this those runs where exploited in some form or fashion.

zos, u should perma ban the suspended accounts. you already sent a clear warning with the first wave of bans months ago, any future exploiters should be perma banned no questions asked.

I don't know where their bans are, hopefully incoming. If they don't get banned, it's a naive precedent to say that because guilty people were't punished means that nobody should ever be punished again for an exploit... and that its somehow no longer an exploit because people got away with it due to dev limitations.

    Thanks for reinforcing my point.

It seems like, maybe youre projecting. I can honestly say that i do not lie cheat and steal and step on people to get where i want to be. Ive recommended coworkers for jobs i knew theyd be better suited for than myself (twice actually which cost me opportunities that would have bettered my income) and i try to do the right thing in all situations. Have i made mistakes? Of course, but the intent is always to do the right thing. I’m all for the “no sin cast the first stone” believe me, but there is a clear right and wrong in this situation and i am full within my rights to feel disappointment in those that partook in these shenanigans and also feel that justice was served.

Your “illustration” that “THIS IS A VIDEO GAME” is spot on: it is just a video game and that people take it so seriously to pay money or try to cheat their way to a free ride is pretty sad and yeah, disappointing of my fellow Man to see. Like this is just a game yet people feel the need to compromise their integrity for it. Just imagine these kinds of people irl. Their integrity means so little that theyll cheat in an insignificant video game.

Correct me if I'm wrong: permaban for an "exploit" like this would be overkilling. Not just in a moral sense but in legal sense as well.
In a game the possibilities of a gamer is controlled by the code. What the official code allows you is legal to do as part of the game content and features. If the game doesn't want me to jump off a cliff, an invisbile wall will be put there to prevent me doing so. If the game doesn't want to allow me to steal from sacks in a fence, it will not be clickable.
Everything I can do in a game, the code is responsible for it.

If there's a glitch in the game and the player plays on it, it's again the responsibility of the code and the coder. ZOS can not redirect this responsibility to the player through shady legal text called "terms and conditions". A computer game is a product which also falls under the legal regulations of trading so it has to be fit for purpose in any given moment and should not be misused. However misusing it does not mean one can be deprived from the accessibility (especially not permanently) maybe losing warranty.

In this case I see no harm done to the game community and also this is not an illegal use of the program code as the code has not been breached, nor hacked. The player played what the code allowed him to do without using any third party code (like with add-ons, khm, which are now feature for some reason even if it affects everyone else's gameplay big deal) or without affecting the game of anyone else in the virtual world.

So I'd reconsider this overly reactive permaban otherwise any given player could successfully run a lawsuit against ZOS any time.

Exactly. All that mumbo jumbo he wrote goes out the window as soon as ZOS lawyers whip out the Terms of Service and the digital signature of those they permabanned on that ToS. Welcome to the real world where ESO is a private commodity leased out to you under strict agreement to not be an ass!

Those that glitched the trial knew the risk as they knew that they were exploiting, completing content by methods of a bug or flaw in the game. I don’t see how there could be an argument. They knew what they were doing, now they may be permabanned. Simple really.
