Healing Staff vs Lightning Staff

Here's the thing I wonder about ...kinda tag teaming off the prior statement:

"As for DPS if my team member is pulling over 30k i know instantly and dont even care what they are using to do so."

Nails my feelings...I mean if I'm in a Vet group rolling along killing things & proceeding at a decent rate...why would I even check what the others are doing? No reason to check we are progressing toward completion.

Now if we are wiping or some are dying or its taking too long to make the group stop and take pause...then the group has a reason to examine itself.

Maybe that's just me...some may get there panties in a bunch when they see that resto beam or flakes from an ice staff but there has to be a REASON beyond that for me to look for a problem.

So part of me feels we aren't getting a clear picture of what the OP considers good DPS.

I really don't get stuff like this. If you use groupfinder have the decency to do one role as everyone will expect of you. There are tons of whinethreads about DPS queuing as tank too and it's totally justified for people to have some expectations.

If you want to play hybrid stuff play in premade groups with friends or guildies that know what you are up to. The group I often run with usually has a half dps healer too.

Non healers with a healing staff should get a 24h ban from all group activity. PvP included.
"Yesterday while searching a barrel in vVoM I found a lemon. Best drop of the whole run."

Protect the weak. Heal the sick.
Treasure the gifts of friendship. Seek joy and inspiration in the mysteries of love.
Honor the Earth, its creatures, and the spirits. Use Nature's gifts wisely. Respect her power. Fear her fury.

Erm... back bar resto is pretty good for a lot of non-healer mag builds in PvP. Dual resto healer bans in PvE I could get behind though... gimme my ele drain.

A while ago I created an Argonian Templar that I used as a DPS that could go heals in a pinch. I had a lot of DOT abilities that I used with the Valkan set and it was quite effective. I decided to use Healing Staves on both bars DPS Front/ Heal Back, it was a lot of fun to play until I ran into a few different people in dungeons who were annoyed I was using the Heal Staff for DPS. I switched the DPS bar to a lightning staff and tried playing it that way but I really did not like the way it worked, so instead of putting up with people yelling at me for Healing Staves on DPS I just stopped playing the character.

Please note, even when I moved to lightning staff it wasn’t like I was using any skills from the line, just the passives.

So my question is: Does a Healing Staff really do that much less DPS damage vs. a lightning staff, at least enough to warrant the PUG threatening to kick me if I didn’t get a real weapon for DPS, or were they just misinformed about it?

Just log as healer. You'll be ideal for most content since you can dps when heals are not needed.
Just Say No! to changing Sorcerer Magicka skills to Stamina.

If you can pull 30k+ dps on double heal bars I would not mind it even in trials. But if you are about 12k and wanna do vet content, I guess I would disapprove double heal staves DD same as many ppl would. I mean, tanking things while DDs experiment is not best fun ever, you know.

Just queue as a healer, dps while everyone is fine, heal when someone is in need. Actually for all content besides trial and vDLC, the best healer is an hybrid dps\heal like what you seem to like. But dont queue as a dps and dont do vDLC / trial with this setup.
