With all the changes in the last few updates and with changes in this update I think it would be good if ZoS made a mega post for all skills or a post for each skill line and lay out what their goals for each power is.

Making nerf this and buff that post are pointless when the way players use powers and the way ZoS wanted them to be used don’t match. Having a clear understanding of how they envision the skills and it’s morphs would go miles to fixing balance.

Agreed, even if they stated their general direction on classes, it would be helpful.

My opinion is that classes should greatly influence your ability to fill certain roles as far as how you get there. For example, a Templar should be able to be a tank through a certain amount of self healing and buffs, while a Nightblade gets there through debuffing and leech abilities. So if you spec outside your class directed role, you can do so through reliance on your class defining features.

If this was stated, then they could eliminate some of the encroachments we currently see (increasing the ability of everyone to self heal, for example). Otherwise, if the goal isn’t to homogenize every class into having all the same tools, we should know that as well.

There are Developer Comments in the Patch Notes that talk about some of the major changes and why they are doing it. Could there be a bit more, sure. However, they tend to put most of them in the first patch notes, not the patch updates. See this:

And, not sure if it expressly stated, but the long term goals are that each class can do each role effectively. They are not there and have a lot more work to do, but are heading in that direction.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I do understand that they want all classes to be able to do all roles. However the real question is how.
Five tank, healer and DPS classes would be fun but not if they all do the same thing the same way. On the other side it’s pointless to move a class to be able to do all roles if another is just better in all situations. Case and point DK are just the best tanks, Wardens are great too but that’s 2/5. Why make some powers better for tanking, healing or DPS if 2/5 classes will always be better.

If we had a clear picture of okay yes this is a tank morph but it’s meant to full this role, and we can better help balance the roles. Like Nightblade will never be as good as a DK tank in pure blocking with the bonus to blocking that DKs have, but NB tank have access to a class miss chance power with blur. So equal well not being the same. We need unique both classes and roles.

What zos says and what they do are completely opposite. At this speed that goal will take them a good 10 year to reach.
