It's definitely a pain in the butt for me to do them, yet I know some folks love this playstyle. I wish they were sellable/tradeable because that seems like such a better way to handle it.

Only had ~95, myself. Took more than a little time.

But now I have to refine 2.3k ruby ash, 2k ancestor silk, 1.8k rubedite, and 1.6k leather. :o

At least you can refine all of them with one clic...wait.

    I mean 10 at a time....

Saw a useful tip on the forums the other day. Get to the survey spot, pick up the nodes, port to a house you don't own, walk out the door and you are back at the spot with nodes refreshed.

It saves riding some indeterminate distance away and back which can be a real pain in some swampy or forested zones.

Or.. Just log off and on for a sec

Faster to just ride 100 meter away and return i think.

    No; sometimes they don't refresh

    Huge waste of time

It can vary, some of the surveys in wrothgar it is easier to just teleport to a home you don't own and walk out to be placed back in the same place.

Why are you piling them up? Just go survey daily after the writs.

Because of the anniversary event. Smashing writs on as many characters possible for gold boxes also resulted in a lot of surveys.
this, also as you can get doublets and drops close to each other it make more sense to take them in groups.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

I absolutely hate how they changed surveys.

Now every zone has several of them. Great....another Auridon alchemy survey.

I want them to be in one zone. Craglorn worked perfectly fine and they didn’t chew up so much bank space.

i started hoarding them way back when they announced that they were gonna lessen the amount of surveys given but double the amount coming out of them.

did about 50 yesterday. still have 200 or so in the bank

When it comes down to a gold / time ratio. Surveys arnt worth doing whether you have a bunch of stacks or just one. The only reason to do them is if you don't mind and want to save a little bit of gold. There needs to be something else tied to them to make them worth the time to harvest. I do 180 writs a day. I literally have thousands of surveys stacked in my bank. Once you understand how to take advantage of the other means in the game to obtain mats and legendary upgrade materials you will realize how obsolete surveys are.

When I was invited to ZoS studios a few weeks ago to beta test Summerset I had a nice long talk with Philip Draven the lead systems designer about this. We bounced a lot of ideas off each other about these issue and other crafting writ woes. It was by far, for me one of the best conversations I had while at the studio. I hope some good comes out if it for the future of how writs work.

I just finished doing about 70. I did a few zones a day.

There's one reason it takes so long: cliffs.

FOR THE LOVE OF THE EIGHT WTF IS WITH ALL THE **#*@&*$ing CLIFFS?

Seriously, ZOS, EVERY terrain feature doesn't need to be a cliff! You do NOT need to make every overland zone an open air maze. STOP IT. STOP MAKING CLIFFS EVERYWHERE! It's amateurish, immersion-breaking, and ANNOYING.

I can handle the fact that my character can't step over a 4" tall rock. I can handle the fact that my epic, heroic game character takes more damage jumping off a 6' drop than my 53 year old real life body takes. I can handle the fact that I have to wait for mobs to catch up to me so they can tap me once and then turn and run away before I can loot a node. But the *#(@*ing cliffs in this game will make me never want to enter an overland zone again.

    Survey Harvesting Steps:

    1. Open Survey. See wide open map with no terrain features and a huge X in the middle of a massive blank zone.
    2. Guess at location. Open zone map and place marker where you think it is. Locate nearest wayshrine.
    3. Zoom into map and try to guess which tiny little bumps are actually cliffs (HINT: they're all cliffs)
    4. Run from wayshrine towards map marker.
    5. Hit cliff. Run 90 degrees either way.
    6. Hit cliff. Turn around and go other way.
    7. Hit cliff. Turn around and run completely opposite direction from map marker.
    8. End up back at original wayshrine.
    9. Try different wayshrine that's 5x further away from map marker.
    10. Run towards map marker from other direction.
    11. Hit cliff. Run 90 degrees away.
    12. Hit cliff. Run 90 degrees other way.
    13. FIND SURVEY NODES!
    14. Try to harvest. Can't.
    15. Wait...
    16. Wait...
    17. Look around. See goblin 100 yards away, trotting in your direction.
    18. Wait...
    19. Wait...
    20. Goblin stops, throws dagger. Stands up. Runs opposite direction.
    21. Harvest node.

    Annoyance level 9000.

I stack them up, (now in my storage chest, but used to be in my bank) when they get to 5 in a stack I go to that one location and grab them all.
now that I have enough mats to do writs on my 5 chars daily, and rarely need to craft anything, I will just continue to stack them until I ever run out of silk, or need gold mats

Ok, I only understood how someone can say surveys aren't worth doing once I read another person's post that reminded me not everyone has add-ons. A survey has about 100 raw materials and I can do one in maybe 2 minutes (lost treasure add-on). That's 500 materials per 10 min or 3000 an hour. That's 15 gold tempers an hour, let's say 14 to account for refinement time.

Not sure what the average going rate of gold improvement mats is, but that combined with selling the mats themselves...I just can't see what is a more profitable use of time. Maybe if you're a market flipper, but then you're scum.

I miss them all being in Craglorn, it made getting Nirncrux so much easier.

They were useful then. Honestly, I just stack mine up now in the hopes someday they make them worth my while. I have a stack of 15 of some of them. It would take weeks to pick them up at this point.
I am mostly pleased with the current state of ESO. Please do continue to ban cheaters though and you guys have to find out who is duping gold and how because the economy is currently non-functional.

Spent 5 hours last night collecting surveys and made 250k gold today. I can't believe people delete surveys.

However I would say that enchanting surveys might not be worth doing and alchemy surveys yield very few mays

It's not that they yield little, its that the potential output is too varied. I love seeing 30 columbine, 30 bugloss etc. it's a great way to stock up to make tri resto pots.

Yes, this is normal now that surveys are more "fun" as the devs put it, by making them drop for all areas in tamriel.

As a writ doer, I really was getting bored with the convenience of all my surveys being in the same zone, I really enjoy traveling around the whole of tamriel to harvest my surveys that previously didn't take too long given they were all in one spot.

I don't see why anyone would complain about it.

Never thought as many surveys I did today would take this long to do, and an hour to refine them as well. Amount of surveys is well over 400. Been saving them for quite a while and curious if others have had this happen as well?

Note for those thinking to suggest an addon I am on Xbox one, I cannot have addons.

Congrats! That sounds so boring, though! 9.5 hours straight of surveys!?!?
