Yep. I let em pile up as well and then take a day or so to complete them. Not a big deal since I did it to myself.

Could take long if you don't have addons for survey locations but overall in PC, if you have addons, this is just right because farming nodes versus surveys takes the same amount of time with the same value.

I don't mind them on PC, but I've been using the add-on for months now. I save them up for a day or two a week and just relax chest-seeking and gathering other stuff in the area.

If I were on console, I'd shoot myself. :s Thanks for the reminder about the difference-- I'd honestly forgotten. My sympathies, my other-platform cousins... :'(

There are exactly 24 locations for each type of survey, and 6 trades, so a maximum of 144 slots in inventory necessary to hold them for a long time. Form my experience doing writs almost daily on 14 characters for 6 month, I've gotten an average of 13-15 each. Having that many in a single location meant I only had to travel then once, then travel a short distance to reset them and pick again in short order. If I do all survey location in a zone, that also saves time with loading screen. So I decided I will pick each location every 6 months, grouping 4 zones or sub-zones in each session to form a full cycle.

    January & July: Alik'r, Craglorn 1, 2, 3
    February & August: Auridon, Bangkorai, Coldharbour 1 & 2
March & September: Deshaan, Eastmarch, Glenumbra, Grahtwood
April & October: Greenshade, Malalal Tor, Reaper's March, Rivenspire
May & November: Shadowfen, Stonefalls, Stromhaven, The Rift
    June & December: Vvardenfell, Wrothgar 1, 2, 3

I estimate the picking time for 1 session at around 3-4 hours, based on my experience in late September, when I picked mine. I actually did it on consecutive days, so it ended up being pretty mind numbing so it's the main reason I decided to space the sessions one month apart.

I hate surveys so much. Just give me the raw mats.

I didn’t mind them so much when they were all in the same zone.

I wish they go back to that.

Never thought as many surveys I did today would take this long to do, and an hour to refine them as well. Amount of surveys is well over 400. Been saving them for quite a while and curious if others have had this happen as well?

Note for those thinking to suggest an addon I am on Xbox one, I cannot have addons.

400?? I never wait that long. I like to have my mats in my 'bank'. I get about 20 Im off to take care of them.

Saw a useful tip on the forums the other day. Get to the survey spot, pick up the nodes, port to a house you don't own, walk out the door and you are back at the spot with nodes refreshed.

It saves riding some indeterminate distance away and back which can be a real pain in some swampy or forested zones.

I'm pretty sure I probably was the one that posted the teleport to a home you don't own trick.

Alternatively... just logout and login again.

and experience long loading issues that happen with logging back in over and over? I don't think that is the best one there. Learned that lesson from doing flour farming.

Actually, I disagree. When I have multiples of the same survey, I always just log out and log back in. It really does Not take THAT long, and it should Not screw anything up. The RAM is already holding that data, so popping in and out should not cause dcs.

I’ve never had a loading screen shorter than a 100 meter dash unless you don’t have maneuver and a fast mount. It takes a little more effort but it’s faster.

I have a few ideas that could help streamline/improve crafting surveys:

    1. Let them be sold. Trashing them is a waste of potential mats on the market and some people don't have the bankspace/time to store them up or collect them.

    2. Make them able to be stored in the craftbag (doing this for master writs would also be appreciated). They are crafting related and it would save A LOT of space for those that store them up (I had 141 inventory slots taken up by them when I stored them up for around 6 months). Makes sense and is a win/win for crafters.

    3. Reduce the number of zones they apply to. Hell, revert them back to only being for Craglorn, but there are too many locations now. It takes more time and wastes more inventory space for them to be all over Tamriel.

    4. Reduce the drop rates on surveys and increase the materials gained from them. Keep the amount of materials gained over time and amount of writs done to get those materials the same, but reduce the amount of time spent running around.

P.S. Please share these ideas or add your own. I genuinely think adding any or all of these would bring a great improvement in quality of lIfe for those who do crafting writs for an in game income, but don't want to spend time on it like its a 2nd job.

Recently saved them all for over a year, literally had 100's and 100's of them some stacked to as high as 21 and it took me all a good part of 2 days to collect them on a farming character built for max speed. Had like 37000 rubedite ore alone and loads of other stuff. Now I wish I could mass refine it all but atlas on console.

Yeah. It's weird. People get free stuff and complain it's too hard. Come to my house and hand it to me.

Now, I understand the complaint of the Console users. I doubt I would do surveys without the addon. But if you are on PC, it's free stuff. A lot of the locations are literally right next to wayshrines. If you are on console, check google to see if there are maps out there. At least your searching could be quicker.

Or get The ESO app. I like that it actually describes the location, as the in-game map zoom is often inadequate (okay, and I need new glasses). I find it much more convenient than looking it up on my laptop.

This is why i wish you could combine all the surveys you have into a multiplier and you only have to do that one once, basically just give you the equivelent to what you would have got but you lose the extra chances of getting crits if you did them individually, just one huge crit

I did about 300 yesterday and it took me 2.5 hours plus another half hour refining.
The most annoying part is the running back and forth until the same survey nodes respawn.
Addons i can recommend for fellow PC players are: Lost Treasure and Survey the World. At least thats why I use for like 2 years now.
