I am having this too.

there are a number of similar posts now over the last week so it is affecting a wider range of players.

It looks like as it is taking so long to log into a character the game sends you back to the inintial login screen. Maybe there is an issue or just the time taken is longer than a programmed limit and you are back at the login screen to prevent the game hanging on a load screen.

Its hard to know what goes on during this char logon time but what is clear is all the active addon's will be run.

I have tried disabling addons and it seems better but is still slow and sometines fails to load the char.

I had the same issue this morning with a new character and disable addons solved it.

Further, after several tries, it seems that it was PChat addon the problem

An error has occurred usually means there's trouble connecting the client to the server. Try to repair your client or otherwise make sure there are no problems client side, then as per the message, try again later. If the servers are down or if there's an issue server side, there is not much you can do besides watching for updates on the forums like you are.

If you are playing on PC try disabling all your addons and trying then. Or simply move them out of the load folder to another one then restart the launcher. I had similar issues a few months ago caused by corrupted data from one of my addons, probably Master Merchant, preventing me from loading specific characters. I deleted the addon data, completely removed other addons, and the problem disappeared.
