Have you purchased outfit slots?

Nope and I very much doubt I will at that price.

If they were cheaper (200 each?) or account wide I would consider buying them, but right now they're a rip-off plain and simple.

I would love to see ZOS' internal sales data for the Crown Store, but that's never going to happen.
Maybe I should start working on a marketing career and move to Baltimore...

Here's the thing. SWTOR has an outfit system too. It's very similar in design. There, you can buy outfit slots with gold or their cash shop currency. Single-character outfit slots are 150 of that currency, while account wide unlock of another slot was either 1000 or 1500. Their cash shop currency price point is pretty well exactly the same as crowns.

1500 crowns for one outfit slot on one character is absolute tripe. I will -never- purchase one at that price unless it becomes account-wide like costumes, mounts, etc.

They cost arm an and a leg, and the outfit system doesn't even include civilian clothing I stole from people's closets over all those years in preparation for this very feature.
If they ever add civilian clothing and the option to hide shoulders / gloves, I would consider buying a slot or two; in its current state I don't really need to buy any more slots, because I don't even use the free one.

Bought two for my main cause I am a fashionwh0re, and to keep wasting gold so I can switch outfits from time to time is exhausting. For my alts nah tho, they just get one main outfit :p

Agree. The extra slots would a lot more worth it to me if and when I can use the civilian clothing items.

So as someone who dosen't RP and thus dosen't need the option of huge wardrobe of ready at a moment's notice outfits for one character possibly for RP, here's the thing:

I could either spend 1500 crowns as well as the gold for another look for a character (beyond costumes) or just use that look with another character.

e.g. instead of wasting 3000 crowns to have a full "TESV ebony warrior" or "TESV glass warrior" looks for one character, It's cheaper to have two other characters have those looks. Gives me another reason to play as them if their different classes and play styles aren't enough.

To appeal to me (and evidently others) 1500 crowns spent needs to at least be account wide if ZoS wants better sales from it. Account wide as in an extra slot for all character slots ever. not just the amount you have purchased and unlocked at the time. Simple.

We have no idea if that will lead to better sales. You are assuming that they will sell more when 1 slot covers 15 characters that the current per-character situation. There are people who have already bought slots for multiple characters. Under the account-wide model, there may be people who paid for 4 slots that would have only had to pay for 1 slot. It is possible that the account-wide model would have been more profitable, but it is questionable for us to pretend like we have any idea.

This is yet another crown sink for people with a ton of virtual currency who abstract away the cost of that virtual currency.

Bought one on my crafter thinking it would be account wide. Nope. Stopped me from buying any more.

I'm enjoying that extra outfit slot, but still pretty disappointed at the price of one for a single character.

Nope. The price per toon is silly and the gold cost for making your outfit on top of it makes it worse. I’ll stick with my crown store costumes which I can change and dye at will, thanks.

    420 poll votes so far.
Some figuring: if all 4+ voters actually bought 12, and all 2-3 voters bought 3, then that's 169 slots; at current price zos made 253,500 crowns from 420 people.

However what if pricing the slots at 500 crowns caused all "No" respondents to buy 1 slot (average, some buy more others less) and the other voters bought same number: then they would have sold 537 slots at 500 for total cost of 268,500 crowns from 420 people.

Hmm from a quick glance at the poll one would think there's a bigger gap, but really seems like both pricing points produce similar results. Each has it's own benefit: expensive gives them the option to have a sale in the future and get a big influx of crowns; cheap gives them larger volume of participation in the feature and allows them to remove more gold from the game (appraently that's a goal, given how much gold it costs). Cheap also gives them better user good-will but I guess they don't care about that.

I also think this poll is biased against the current price: if we could poll non-forum goers I bet they bought more than we did so the results would be more in favor of current price.

My conclusion is that ZoS will not make a permenant adjustment to the price, but they will likely offer a sale on slots at some point. Also I doubt they will add account-wide slots.

I would never buy a per-character slot at that price -- it's ridiculous. I love the outfit system, but until they sell it account-wide, I'm just going to pay gold if I want to make alterations to my one outfit.

Despite how definite I put it, yeah, I (and no one else) can't actually know with 100% certainty. But I'd be willing to bet it'd be more appealing of an offer and get more purchases in the long run (under the simple case of getting more for less.)

No, plus I will add that because I was spoiled by LOTRO being so cosmetic-friendly as soon as the outfit system went live I rushed to the crown store intending to buy more outfit slots, and actually gasped and recoiled when I saw the price, and then was very sad. My pockets ain't that deep. So now I'm resigned to whenever I want to change outfits for a holiday or something, I will have to take two screenshots of my outfit (because backbar weapons) and meticulously note exactly which piece in what weight I used for each slot. And then keep that in a folder on my hard drive. I mean it's not that difficult, but I'd rather just be able to keep my daily adventuring outfit and then have a relaxing at home outfit or a holiday outfit on the side, y'know? That also discouraged me from ever buying crown store motifs, I'm just not as excited for it anymore.

No. Would have bought multiple for sure if they were account wide or cheaper per slot= 250-500max per slot. And would have been slowly buying more multiples in coming months.
I think it was a really very bad decision to make them so expensive.

I love the outfit system itself a lot, though the gold cost for rarer styles could be lower too - like 6000 just to dye an ashlander bow that I actually have equipped? But even the high gold costs have not driven me to buy even one slot.

I gotta change my vote to "I've bought one for my main," because I am kind of an outfit hoe. I still think they're overpriced though-- at least the second and third slots should be purchasable with in-game gold, and then after that if they cost crowns, then that's fine. That or make outfit slots accountwide as people have been saying.

At this price? Not. Bloody. Likely.

I had planned to buy 6-8 account-wide unlocks when the system was announced. That's how many outfit tabs I usually have active on every character on every server in every MMO that I play (that has the option, LOTRO and SWTOR being the best examples of superior implementations of outfit systems). I had assumed they would be at a similar price to other MMOs, $3-5 per account-wide unlock if bought with crowns and horribly extortionate if bought with in-game gold (based on the experience with bag and vault prices).

Instead... they're $10-15 PER SLOT PER CHARACTER... and you loose that slot if you ever delete that character. So NO. FRIGGIN'. WAY.

If they were reasonably priced at $3-5 per account-wide unlock, I would buy 7 slots today.

And it's really, really frustrating because I think ESO has the best Outfit System of any MMO I have ever played (starting with SWG)... but they have the absolutely worst implementation of the system. It is so ludicrously expensive to unlock that it might as well not exist. And the costs to create and dye outfits are just as ridiculous. I regularly will log in to a character, wander to an outfit station, play around creating a new outfit, then cancel out and log out for the day. There have been many days when it was the only thing I did in game. But I'm not going to waste gold like that when my bank, bags, and mounts aren't maxed, and I am never going to buy crowns to buy more outfit slots.

The gold cost is really no surprise, as a casual player from early Beta who has been playing casually since hour 1 of Early Access, bag and vault space is ridiculously over-priced. I am still working to get enough unlocked, so for now the game is normally Inventory Management Online instead of Elder Scrolls Online. Really looking forward to our kid starting school so my wife can go back to work and we can afford to re-subscribe to ESO+, hellooo crafting bags...

And once we're ESO+ members again and getting "free" Crowns, if I ever hit 7-10k Crowns, I might buy one extra slot for my main. But buy Crowns to buy slots? No. Not frickin' ever.
    DaveMoeDee wrote: »
I guess this is for the crowd that likes to invoke the price of a latte.

I live in Cologne, Germany. I bike to the ESO Tavern... For the price of ONE outfit tab unlock, I could buy 5-10 lattes. I could go to a bakery for lattes and pastries for myself, my wife, and our son twice. I could buy two cases (20 x .5L) of beer. Or one outfit slot? Hahahahahaha!... Uh, no...
