How I wish we can have similar concepts in ESO haha. Dying once would result in zeroing out. Pretty hardcore there.

I wouldn't say it is direct to Elder Scrolls. You had questing, puzzle solving, game research, items and power gaming. The game in the movie was really more battle royale.
I just saw the personalities. The nice, high level game who is loyal to friends. The geeked out nerd who really wants to role play and every one else to. The lamer game who cash buys every powerup. The 11 year old acting like an adult. The crafting marvin who loves to make stuff for buds. Even a "Chinese" gold farm to sell came stuff for cash. Lots of others too.
It was fun and even more fun for someone that grew up from pong to now.
Why is "Chinese" in quotes? Was another country used in the movie?

@Wintergreen - outside of three keys and an Easter egg, the movie resembles nothing of the book.
I loved the book, but based on the trailer alone, I knew the movie strayed considerably. I went and saw it with an open mind, and was entertained by the movie, but if you’re expecting to see the book on the silver screen you will be sorely disappointed.
But in the end, if you go into the film looking for cool visuals and pop culture references, you'll leave happy. But if you are looking for a well-written and believable story, you won't.
