I'm afraid to see it because of how much I loved the book, I know, I know and this isn't really one of *those* posts. I'm simply saying that because of knowing the two don't ever mesh well, I almost expect to be disappointed by the movie. Especially seeing as I'm one of those 35+ people the book was written for. If the movie does a good job relating that feeling to younger gamers, that's great! Only now my fear is that I won't like the movie because I won't get the references as much. :pensive:

Bah, just go see it for the eye candy. I still love the Hobbit even though the movie stunk. This movie is much better than the Hobbit. Given that the 80/90s and video games are visual arts, a movie has something new to add and Spielberg delivers on this.

I loved the book, and had hoped the movie would stay truer to the source material, but the movie IS still very entertaining and enjoyable to watch. They managed to weave in the main plot points in completely different fashion than how stuff was learned/earned in the book, so the end game is still the same.

My only real beef with the creative liberties in the movie **not a spoiler** was the repackaging of IROKZ's character. I thoroughly enjoy TJ Miller as an actor, but it seemed like many of his scenes were just for gratuitous humor, and he definitely played a much larger role in the movie than he did in the book.

.hack/sign was even before that, and was really well done

Both SAO and ./hack are more about VR fantasy MMOs. Ready Player One's vitual world is closer to Summer Wars, which I also highly recommend.

Should I see this in 3D or normal?

TESO needs a wardrobe system badly. Something similar to WoW's tmog system would make this game one of the best mmorpg out there!

I kept hoping we'd get to see him in real life. I'm pretty sure he was supposed to be the stereotypical 'neck beard' (extreme loser geek), but I was really hoping he'd be this sweet old grandma who rescues cats or something.

Normal. But I don't see many in 3D. 3D is too dark and I wear glasses so it's a pain. There are certain movies (avatar) that really do 3D right. Most movies it is just an afterthought. I didn't see anything in this one that would be improved by 3D.
