In the end SWTOR fixed it by completely ripping PvP out of PvE and making it into it's own separate instance, so if you wanted open-world PvP you'd have to switch to a PvP instance. I seriously doubt any of those calling for open-world PvP here in ESO would like/want that option, since the PvP instance would be empty compared to the PvE instance - exactly as those in SWTOR found out.DieAlteHexe wrote: »This has, indeed, been a problem in previous MMOs with the PvP tag. I remember it being a real issue for awhile in SWTOR. They finally got it sorted but it sucked in the meantime. I'm far more in favour of a game where PvP is NOT the main focus having the two playstyles be set apart.
And lo and behold, that's exactly what's happened. "Oh Cyrodil wouldn't be Cyrodil if you took away the PvP!" Every time this topic comes up, people rightly suggest having a way to toggle PvP off in Cyrodil or having a PvE only instance of it... and never have I seen those calling for open-world PvP support this, they are always against it. So yes, they want to force their preferred style & type of gameplay onto everyone else, but don't want to give anything back for it.I also find it very telling that, as whenever extending PvP into the open world is raised, it's only proposed as a change in one direction. It's a proposal to have an optional "/PvP On" switch across the PvE zones, but with immediate rejection of any suggestion that it should be coupled with an optional "/PvP Off" switch across the PvP zones

I'll be honest, a PvE only version of Cyrodiil would be boring as hell. Have you actually run the quests in there? Or the delves? They are, literally, kill 10 goblins, go kill a bear, go return this bag to its owner halfway across the zone. The entire design of Cyrodiil will not work without PvP. It would be dull and uninteresting. What makes it engaging is the fear that an enemy player will wander in.
This even extends to the design of the delves. Cyrodiil delves are designed to put you in situations where you need to backtrack, increasing the risk that you'll encounter an enemy player while in there. Additionally, their boss spawn mechanics are designed to keep you in there. If you want to complete a Cyrodiil delve you may end up spending 30 minutes to an hour just grinding bosses hoping the one you want to kill spawns (and in a few cases, even longer). If there was no threat of PvP, it just wouldn't be fun.
My characters aren't built for pvp; my gear isn't set up for pvp, and I am just fine with that. I just flat out can't understand what "fun" someone gets out of killing my character repeatedly, when I never fight back, show no interest in gathering telvar, and keep heading for the crafting station in IC. The last time someone asked for gear from there the same player killed my character 6 times in a row; I'm guessing they finally got bored and realized I had no telvar. Took a lot of time until they finally gave up though. I sent my one guildmaster gold tempers for getting all the IC crafting stations set up at the guildhouse, because now I don't have to go to IC if a guildie asks for a set of gear from one of them.
No i'd uninstall instantly.. As a person that played Perfect World PvP and saw how abused it was there no chance in a million years i'd support this or play it..Integral1900 wrote: »Considering that us pve exclusive Care Bears make up 90% of the player base and therefore 90% of the money that ZOS gets I can calmly and considerately say...
NO WAY THIS SIDE OF HELL!!!!!!!
May I ask how an opt in PvP system would effect a PvE player? Is it that PvE players don't want to see people fighting? Or what? I can't get my head around it
If a pvper cannot attack you they spam you with insults, and toxic behavior hoping to get you riled up to flag yourself, or they attack stuff you are hitting and abuse you, if you flag yourself their friends all descend on you as a group..
And thats just few examples..

its your attitude thats killing you. none of my toons are built for pvp either. none. Yet 5 of them go in there and get skyshards, complete delves and dolmens. now another hit 50, i'll likely send them in there too. most of the time they are in there solo doing pve, only joining in the pvp action if its close by and a quest to complete.
6 times in a row? thats nothing. i killed a guy in swtor 17 times in a row. then i got bored. This is what happens when you are in a pvp zone by choice. You shouldnt whine about it though. it was your choice to go there. But you know what, its never happened to me in cyrodiil or IC and most of my toons are really crap in there.
Your issue is as i said your attitude. I would hazard a guess since you dont care for the zone you dont bother taking any precautions like sneaking etc. im picturing you strolling down the roads and walking past enemy guard posts like you own the place. 'i dont wanna be here, everythings going to kill me anyway, whats the point? i dont care'. i take it slow in there. sneak. corpses i didnt leave? means someone else is here. are they alone? if not, they will kill you. if they are, maybe. Whats your health? i see people with high hp and think tank, fighting them is not worth my time. low hp? they gonna die if they start something.

Seems easy to block them. Tbh, I would just chuckle about how pathetic they are.
