PTS Gear on old characters

I imagine this gets asked everytime there is a character copy, but I'm new to the PTS so this is the first time I've seen my regular characters appear. Is there a way to get the full gear boxes on an existing character that you get on a new? Or do you just have to create new characters and transfer the gear individually via your bank?
